I fought hard to escape a life of danger and despair for my daughter and me.We are fiercely independent and completely self-sufficient.Of course, having the hottest steamy night of my life with the sexy bad boy next door is something I want more of.However, he’s a player, and his reputation is all about keeping it casual.I’m not into that and I’m sure I’d be better off without him until my worst … off without him until my worst nightmare happens and I have nowhere else to turn.
Now I need him like I’ve never needed anyone before, but can he help me?

Nikki just got out of an abusive marriage. Her and her daughter are finally on there own and safe, or so Nikki thinks. When her car won’t start one morning her neighbor comes to her rescue. Little did she know then that he was actually someone from her past that has changed a lot over the last 20 years. When her daughters life is in danger the last person she expects to help her steps up and will stop at nothing to keep them safe.
Loved the book it was great the story was well written and the characters were interesting. Nikki was strong enough to leave and divorce her husband, they left and moved to a small town hoping her ex would not find her or there daughter Kaylie. Jax her next door neighbor rough on the outside received the wrong pizzas and took them to next door. Jax noticed Nikki could not start her car and went to see if he could help, that was when they started talking.

I enjoyed this book but beware it’s intense. If you get triggered by domestic abuse, beware this book has some of that. An emotional story that will take you on a roller coaster ride. Well-written with strong, likable characters and an engaging read. Jax and Nikki are so great together and he reappeared back into her life at the right time. I read an arc copy and voluntarily chose to review.
This book is fantastic and a must read! Jax and Nikki are neighbors after Nikki takes her 10 year old daughter Kaylie and finally leaves her abusive husband. They meet when their pizza orders get mixed up. She doesn’t recognize him but he recognizes her, they went to high school together and he had a crush on her then. Things get a little steamy between the two after she has car trouble and he offers to fix it in return for dinner. Dinners between the 3 of them are easy and relaxed and Jax begins to realize he might actually want to find someone to settle down with. But he has a reputation as a player and Nikki puts him in the friend zone. They finally decide to give a relationship a shot after a thank you dessert leads to them in each others arms again. She’s not sure how she feels about it until Jax is the one that rescues her daughter when she gets kidnapped by her father. This brings them together and leads them down the path to their happy ending.

Great romance story with lots of loving, just enough drama to keep it interesting, and, of course, passion. Nikki and Jax were neighbors that became much more. I recommend His Ride by Liz Peters. It is a story that left me wanting more.

Wow, What a hottie Jax is! I enjoyed this book but it did go rather quickly. Fun, insta-love story with a little drama to keep you on your toes. Characters were likeable and believable. The chemistry was hot between Jax and Nikki and who doesn’t love an alpha hero!
Voluntary review of an ARC
Nikki and Jax are a very sweet couple. I mean I’d snap up Jax as my next book boyfriend anyday. I enjoyed this book but was left wanting more. I felt the story had so much more potential but didn’t quite get there. Possibly because of the length being a novella. Still a great story and very worth the read.
This was an ARC and this is my honest review.
This is a short story about Jax and Nikki. They are neighbors that went to high school together. Good book, well written!

Nikki is a single mother after divorcing her abusive ex and leaving town with a restraining order to keep away. Finally getting on her feet she meets the neighbor who was someone she actually went to school with. As they reconnect and develop a relationship, her ex is behind the scenes up to no good. Will Jax be able to keep Nikki and her daughter safe and out of the reaches of her abusive ex? I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book or an honest review.
Quick and easy read!! Great cast of characters with a side of drama and lots of romance!! Awesome book!!
I was gifted an ARC copy of this book in return for an honest review – the thoughts shared are completely my own.
If you’re looking for a shorter (though not too short) easy to read, interesting book then look no further, this book has it all; single mum, bad boy, characters you can’t help but love, romance, ex husband, gossip, drama etc. Liz Peters really has done a great job on this book, & as she’s a new author to me I’m already off to read more of her stories!

Sexy read about neighbors (and former schoolmates). Nice ‘normal’ read…single Mom trying to make things right for her 10 yr old daughter, butt-hat ex-husband making life difficult for everyone, and a hot and sexy next door neighbor. Loved the ending for the climatic part and the very ending was sweet!

Realistic in how it takes courage to leave an abusive relationship and start over in life, but that’s exactly what Nikki and daughter do to move forward in their lives. Jax her next door neighbor looks anything like her ex-husband, but looks can be deceiving when it comes to true character. He may look rough but is genuine in his offer of help and care. The problem lies will Nikki be able to overcome her past and open herself to a possible future with a good man.

This is a fast read! Nikki is a strong woman who’s been through a lot. Jax may look like a bad boy, but has a good heart. They just click. It’s a great read! I loved it!

Nikki divorces her abusive husband, Brock and moves with her daughter, Kaylie to St. Mary’s. Her neighbor, Jax is a former classmate. He’s always had a crush on her. Back then he was a skinny, nerdy loner…now he’s grown into a gorgeous hunk of a man. He wants a chance to be with Nikki and Kaylie. She’s afraid to trust anyone. Brock takes Kaylie while Nikki is running late from work and it’s Jax that finds and saves her. Sweet ending.

Super quick read. Loved the plot and characters. Hated that it was written in 3rd person, but it was tastefully done.
I also loved that Nikki was a super strong heroine. She left an abusive relationship to save her and her daughter.
HEA
Love the cover too!
I just loved this book. It was so well-written that it captured my mind and I was dragged along for the ride. Once I started reading I could not put it down until I read the last page.

There is no argument that the book had potential. It was well written but felt rushed when it came to the characters. I would have loved to see the trust building between Nikki and Jax and I understand this is the work of fiction but I would have love a bit of realistic view.
