Who would have thought!
As careful and protective as the Tacones are, this time a single Russian slips into the wedding reception right under their noses. And he takes a prize as retribution for Junior killing his Bratva family.
It just turns out that the stolen Mafia princess is not at all what the thief expected, and neither is he, the Bratva hacker.
Fraught not only with the wrath of the Tacone brothers but also with the far reaching arm of the Russian Papa, and a life threatening illness, their relationship slow-burns from enemies into hot and heavy territory. Rose style!
Another great addition to the series.
I have loved every one of Renee’s books. She is such an amazing author and her books make you feel like you’re right there experiencing everything with the characters. Another homerun.
“His Queen of Clubs” is book six in Renee Rose’s “Vegas Underground” series. If you’ve been following along with this series, then you know the Chicago Mafia Family had set up a meeting with the Tacone Crime Family to work out an agreement for money laundering. Unfortunately, Vlad, the money man of the Chicago operation, had to leave for Russia when his mother died. His second, Ivan, took things into his own hands and decided he was going to take out Junior Tacone and the entire Tacone Family. That backfired when Junior Tacone wound up killing six of their men, including Ivan. Now Vlad is sent for retribution of the killings and instead of he intends to hit the Tacone’s where the money is; Las Vegas.
Alessia Tacone is the only daughter and the youngest of the six Tacone children. The entire family has come to Las Vegas to attend Junior Tacone’s impromptu wedding. They’ll be there a week which will make it difficult to continue hiding the fact she’s in stage three kidney failure caused by her diabetes and keeping it from her family for as long as possible. This is one that will absolutely turn up the heat, make you sweat and melt your heart. Vlad, Alessia and Mika have found a special spot in mine.
His Queen of Clubs is Vlad and Alessia’s story. This book is my favorite book in the series. There are so many twists and turns with the storyline. The drama, danger and suspense of this book drew me in. Vlad was the character that I love to hate the most. I read this well written and developed story in one sitting. It seemed to me the three characters were made for each other. I hope we see more of them in other books.
This story is a little different from the previous ones in this series as most of it takes place in Russia. But I am loving how these tough, mafia guys have a different side to them when they find their true love, and how it brings out the protective side of them.
There is so much to this story – revenge, love, children, Alessia’s secret health condition, and so much more. I loved how Alessia knew how to push Vlad’s buttons, and he knew she was doing it. He showed his caring side by making sure she was checking her blood sugar and taking her insulin as needed. So many twists to this story that just added to the enjoyment of reading it.
This story is about the American (Sicilian) Mafia and the Bratva, which should prove interesting as well as intriguing.
In this story we have Alessia. She’s the youngest of the Tacone siblings, and the only girl. She has just earned her degree in elementary education. She is looking forward to teaching, however, she knows her family will never let her teach, or let alone work. Alessia is a diabetic and in stage 3 liver failure. She hasn’t told her family about the liver failure. She’s been trying to control it herself. However, being kidnapped by Vlad won’t help her working on getting her disease under control.
Vlad is out for revenge on Junior Tacone. After Junior killed 6 of his men in Chicago – in Book #5 – Joker’s Wild, Vlad wants to hurt Junior. When he see’s an opportunity to kidnap his younger sister, Alessia, he takes it. However, Vlad doesn’t know Alessia is a diabetic and he’s not sure how to handle her now. Should he just let her go? Or if he researches enough he should be able to take care of her and help her?
Vlad kidnaps Alessia and takes her to Russia, to his home. Taking her on that long of a plane ride is dangerous and Vlad has taken many precautions to make sure she will be taken care of.
Alessia isn’t sure what to do. She can’t escape. She tries and fails. Will Vlad let her go? How long will he keep her? Vlad has sworn off women but being around Alessia he knows she is kinda to others and not just selfish. Will Vlad be able to let her go?
The author has an absolute flair with ‘kidnap and kept’. I wanted to love Alessia and Vlad, but I ended up only kind of liking them. Alessia was such a little spitfire in our previous encounter with her that I was expecting something just a bit more. I really liked that she was so independent even though her health would suggest that maybe she shouldn’t be. However, I was frustrated by how little regard she had for maintaining her good health. There were a lot of “too stupid to live” moments that made me question how she managed to survive to see the end of the book. There are also some serious inaccuracies with the medical situations presented in this story, so that might explain it. Vlad felt a little bit flat to me. I just wasn’t able to connect with his motivations. There are some beautiful moments where we get to see the man behind the mobster, I just wanted to see more of them.
I read a borrowed copy of this book.
I am in LOVE with Renee Rose’s His Queen of Clubs! I so loved Alessia and Vlad. I loved their story and their journey. Although he abducted her in the beginning, it turned out that Alessia, an American mafia “princess” and Vlad, a “money man” for the Russian mafia, are truly perfect for each other in so many ways. You keep hoping they would just see this as the story progresses. The story also includes Mika, the orphaned boy, whose tale will clutch at you throughout the book. I wouldn’t say there were a lot of scary twists and turns, but enough angst and alarming characters to keep you on edge until the end. The “gifts” Vlad gives Alessia, and how the author wraps them up in their HEA will have you bawling. Five star reading!
Emotionally thrilling, sexy, exciting and engaging journey filled with danger, secrets, complex charters and undeniable passion… was a great read from beginning to end and so hard to put down. Excellent reading experience that was perfect for a summer day relaxing in the back yard.
A different story for this series but oh such a good one. I really liked that Alessia was not perfect. So many heroines are young, gorgeous and perfect. Alessia health issues actually gave Vlad more opportunities to show off his softer side right next to his bossy side. Great story.
Oh my! This was a really sweet story that I didn’t expect!! This Alpha Male was so hard on the outside but just waiting for his printezza! I really loved the feels in this!!!
It was quite the up and down, had to read the whole way through once I started!! It hooks you in very quickly!! Especially with a 12 year old getaway driver! Can’t wait to read the rest of the series!!
His Queen of Clubs in the sixth book in the “Vegas Underground” series and does NOT disappoint! This is another intriguing and amazing story! Each book is uniquely different, tells its own story and entices the reader from page one! They can be read as a stand alone but it is more enjoyable if, you read the series in order. Renee Rose gives us a well crafted story with complex characters that get your attention and capture your heart from page one.
Alessia Tacone is the sister of the Tacone brothers and is protected and watched continuously. Enter Vlad who is seeking revenge against Junior Tacone and he kidnaps Alessia. Is your interest sparked now? I couldn’t believe anyone could get that close to Alessia. Couldn’t put the book down until I found out if Vlad survived. LOL Vlad finds out that Alessia is diabetic in Stage 3 Renal failure – yes, not good. The story is a perfect blend of an Alpha male with a tender side, with the right amount of kink and the electricity that burns between Alessia and Vlad that your interest is held throughout the story. Together, they discover that life is fill with the unexpected and this can bring happiness. Renee Rose through her genius brings us a book that is fast paced, lots of suspense, has BDSM elements, HOT, sexy scenes and romance! Thank you!!!
Russian Bratva Prince meets Italian Mafia Princess
Who doesn’t love the uber Alpa male that Renee Rose writes about. Vlad is both an a@@ and a good guy. Renee makes you see the good in him even when he’s acting like an Alphahole! You think Alessia is going to be a spoiled brat. At least that’s what Vlad is thinking. Well he is in for a big surprise!. Alessia gets under and into his heart and he can’t let her go. Renee brings out the best and worst of in character. Like Vlad, you think I am never going to like someone who is in organized crime. Then you hear his story and how he got into it and what he’s done to protect himself and people he cares for and you think there is such a humanness about them. This is a very well written story with the right amount of heat, kink (think spankings and dominance)!, and, dare I say it in a mafia romance, sweet! Oh, yeah there is a definite HEA for these two! I can’t wait for book seven in the Vegas Underground series.
The whole bad boy/mafia guy is not an automatic read for me so I’m always a bit wary of reading books that have this as a main character. However, I have read the other Vegas Underground books by this author & have liked them all so I continue to take a chance. Surprisingly, I loved this book from start to finish! The characters were interesting, the inclusion of a major health condition made it an uncommon read & while Vlad was Bratva, he was surprisingly sweet & gentle. Going out on a limb & suggesting it’s completely unrealistic, but well worth a read.
We’re back in the Tacone’s world again, and what starts out as a very happy affair turns into a kidnapping of their only sister, Alessia, by a member of the Russian Bratva. Vlad wants retribution for Junior wiping out all his members months earlier, so he figures taking Alessia and holding her for ransom will do it. But as he spends time with her, his plans change, he no longer wants the retribution as much as he wants her. Alessia knows eventually she’ll be saved, or at least be set free, but the more time she spends with Vlad, the less she’s sure she wants to. Their dynamics are quite interesting, their story pulls you in, and there’s more here then meets the eye. Totally loved it!!!
Vlad is out for revenge against the Tacone family for destroying his bratva brothers. He ends up with Alessia, the younger sister as his captive bride. What once was a revenge plan turns into so much more between this couple. The twists and turns in this story make for a wild ride. A steamy, HOT read that I recommend as part of the series and can stand alone.
I received a copy of this book and am leaving a review.
Loved the story of Alessia and Vlad. What started out as a kidnapping, to avenge mafia killings, turns into a beautiful love story. There are many ups and downs before there is a happy ending and that is what makes this a great love story. Along the way two children come into their lives and they add to the storyline. It is well written, entertaining and keeps your attention. This is a great addition to the Vegas Underground series and I would highly recommend it as a great read.
4.5 stars. I think this series gets better with each book. Vlad’s entrance was unexpected. Who would think a member of the Russian mafia could drug and kidnap the sister from the Italian mafia and have a HEA?
Vlad and Alessia seemed to have a special connection from the very beginning, even when she was considered his captive. Alessia had a secret she had not shared with anyone. Vlad had something from his past he needed to handle. Mika needed both Vlad and Alessia.
Alessia and Mika being out a gentler, kinder Vlad that I am not sure he was aware existed.
A fast paced, steamy, romantic read that turned out to be rather sweet and full of surprises.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
