Alena is a princess, and with that comes responsibility. Like marrying the giant caveman King Roman, who looks more like a warrior than a ruler. Everything about him is intense. Especially the way he looks at her. But she’s been promised to him, and there’s no way out.Roman took one look and made up his mind. Princess Alena will be his and no one will stop him from taking her. Everything about … Everything about her belongs to him now, and waiting one week for a wedding isn’t going to happen.
This beast of a man might just claim his princess before she has a chance to say “I do.”
Warning: Oh, this is good. It’s so, so good. Trust us.
Each book in The Princess series is standalone & about a different couple.

Roman was an intense and broody king that has to find a wife for the good his kingdom. When he sees one picture of Alena, he decides that she will be his wife. Everyone sees him as an unfathomable king with no emotions but Alena, he’s different, more gentle with her and the moment he lays on her, sees her so tiny, his possessive and protective instincts flare like it never has before. He must have at no cost and normally when royals wed they must see each other on their wedding day not before but Roman doesn’t care and climbs her balcony every night and let’s just say they do more than just talking 😉
Alena doesn’t think she can marry the king, especially because of what her controlling and selfish parents are the ones who benefit to her marriage. She doesn’t want to leave her sister,Tabitha who’s older than her. She’s always felt like an outsider in her family because of her appearance, she’s blonde and light skin and her family are not. When she says she’s not sure about marrying Roman, her sister and her devise a plan where they dress her and she acts like a fool to persuade him to not marry but it backfires hilariously. She’s never met a more intense man in her life but at the same time, she’s intrigued and a little more interested in him after his visit. She thinks she won’t see till the wedding but that’s definitely not happening, not on Roman’s watch. In his hands, she experiences sensations she’s never known and everything she asks, which is taking Tabitha with her to his castle after marrying, (Tabitha has her own story with Roman’s best friend, who’s not a royal but they fall in love and at the end, they marry) Roman will give anything her heart desires and never wants her to be hurt. Loved them both together and can’t wait to read Tabitha’s story. The epilogue is 10 years later, five kids and wishing another one on the way and still in love 🙂
This was a real quickie story. Roman is a King, he’s choosing a bride and decides on Alena when he sees her picture. She has a sister, Tabitha, and most guys usually want her so she’s a little shocked. Roman is also a big dude and looks pretty intimidating.
Roman gave me a little bit of a negative impression at first. He seemed like an arrogant prick and only referred to Alena as his, saying he always gets what he wants, he chose her, etc etc. But I guess I kinda warmed up to him after reading a bit more of how he tries his hardest to make Alena happy. He even allows her sister to come live with them when they get married.
I also felt like I kinda got a 2-in-1 romance story with Alena and Roman plus Tabby and Vlad. Vlad is Roman’s royal guard and he hit it off pretty well with Tabby. Perfect coincidence, hm?
All in all it was pretty cute. Not super special or stand out or anything, just cute.
I critique novellas but I just can’t stay away from some of Alexa Riley’s work. It’s just so wonderful and so well written.
Of course this book would be fantastic as a long book, but I think it works so well as a novella. We’re introduced to a king and a princess in a pre-arranged marriage and they go through with it after they meet. Considering what was in place, it was a great novel to not have to build each character’s past for the drama. It’s him and her and their arranged marriage and attraction and BOOM comes a cute story
The concept of princesses and kings also give it that fairytale size so the length of it works for the theme so well.
Also, it sets up a romance between her sister and his guard and I assume we get their story down the line, so it’s a sign of good writing to look ahead and set their stories up.
I have a bunch of rereads and new releases lined up but I’ll be definitely coming back to these books. Maybe back to back or maybe as good in-between books to break from some of my serious reads.
Overall, it was a great read. Such a fun story! He was very Alpha-male; almost to the point of ridiculous, and yet it worked for this book. Cute story and I can’t wait to get to the others.
I feel like AR has a link to my thoughts. Or I’m just one really good witch that can that can get them to give me what I want. I will admit that recently I’ve been looking for a stronger alpha and boy, did we get on with Roman. He’s a King who is built like a warrior with one dirty mouth that barks out orders and deliciously melts your panties.
As tradition, Roman is forced to an arranged marriage but one look at Princess Alena and he knows she’s the one. From the moment he met her, he has this fierce need to protect her. To own her. He certainly is rough and acts like a caveman but there’s a soft spot for her that makes you melt.
There were a couple of times that I sat on that thin line of over the top stalker vs fiercely drawn connection when it came to Roman’s actions. At the end of the day, I was smitten and could see the overwhelming need that he had for Alena.
I also enjoyed the story of Vlad and Tabby mixed in with this. Not only do you get a brooding alpha but you get another one with confidence and swag that leaves you wanting to know more about him.
Overall, I enjoyed this story. If you are looking for an over the top alpha King who has a dirty mouth and does wickedly delicious things to his Queen, this this is the book for you!
Quick, sexy, fun read
