A camel farm? Yes, a camel farm! Gabe buys the farm and starts selling camel milk. Pricilla works at an Amish school for special needs children. Her brother is autistic and she has studied about the benefits of camels milk for children with autism. She joins forces with Gabe to help promote the camels milk for his business as well as help children.
Devious characters were set on ruining Gabe and trying to take over his business. Law suits were being threatened. Will Gabe lose out on his dream?
Pricilla amazed me in her unselfishness and willingness to let others think untrue things about her in order to do what she thought God would want her to do. She also shared about the love of Jesus and brought another into his love.
Gabe was attracted to Pricilla but a secret he was keeping made him enforce a hands off policy. I admired his wanting to keep a long ago promise although for the wrong reasons.
This story opened my eyes to the benefits of camel’s milk and I did some research of my own. There are several ailments and conditions that is said to be helped by drinking it. You can even buy it online in powder form, but it’s expensive. I think I’ll let the camel milk go by, I don’t even drink cows milk.
I received a complimentary ebook copy of this novel from the author but was not required to write a review.
Camels and conflict
When the bishop accused her of indiscretions with her long-time boyfriend that she didn’t commit, she was stunned into silence. As if discovering her boyfriend’s betrayal wasn’t enough pain, having him ask her to cover for him just added insult to injury. Yet Priscilla knew that if word got out, he would lose his job – and his ability to provide for his widowed mother. Not fully realizing the cost of silence, she agreed. . .
I was stunned by Priscilla’s mother’s reaction to the gossip and rumors that flew! That she not only didn’t trust her daughter’s integrity but wouldn’t even listen to her pleas of innocence broke my heart. And then to have her continue to try to push her back to Matthew. Ouch!!
I did love the way Gabe, despite being a stranger, cared so deeply for Priscilla’s well-being. He was shy and struggled with speaking to strangers, especially groups of them. That he cared enough to step out of his comfort zone was such a beautiful picture of sacrifice – and this before he even realized how much he cared about her! I also enjoyed the ways Priscilla rescued him – to the point that more than one person assumed she was his wife, and thus the title of the story.
Learning more about camels and uses of camel milk was very interesting. I had no idea that it could be therapeutic for so many different conditions. If you have read other stories by Rachel J. Good, you may know that a number of them deal with special-needs children in the Amish community. Priscilla had discovered camel milk as a possible help for her autistic brother and learned so much about it that she was a bit passionate about helping others discover it as well.
It was enjoyable to read of the tentative relationship between Gabe and Priscilla as they were drawn to each other though each had reasons not to try to allow it to grow.
The author’s heart for sharing her faith in Jesus overflowed into having Priscilla share her faith with the reporter who came to write an article about Gabe’s business. I appreciated the clear, concise message of God’s forgiveness, shared in a relatable and non-preachy manner.
His Pretend Amish Bride is a fun book for those who enjoy Amish fiction with a bit of mystery and romance.

I was given a copy of this book. I was not required to give a favorable review nor was any money received for this review. All comments and opinions are my own.
This is the second book in this series that I have read, but it really can be read alone. We meet the characters from the previous but information is given.
This is a sweet story of people really living their faith, and actually touching the lives of others to bring them closer to God.
We see both of the main characters with a heart for children and wanting to do all they can to help. We also see the greed of some who don’t care whom they hurt.
I enjoyed reading how this all played out, and throw in a little very sweet romance, and this is one enjoyable read!
I received this book through the Publisher Kensington Books and was not required to give a positive review.
I loved this book! There were no boring moments or parts to “skim” over quickly. It’s a fast moving book! I wanted to read every word. It started out great and kept on going. I loved the characters and their interactions.
There is a little mystery, and some bad guys and of course, good guys! Both Priscilla and Gabe have issues from their past to work through and deal with. Matthew had given Priscilla hope of a happy future together but causes her some shocks that she would never have expected.
Gabe is the owner of a new camel farm producing both camel milk and cow’s milk. Priscilla has been studying the effects of camel’s milk on autistic children, because of her job as teacher of special needs children and because of her autistic brother.
The book is a good Amish read. If you are prone towards Amish fiction, this one will not disappoint. And you will read it quickly because you will want to know what happens! Loved it!
I received an ebook copy from the author via NetGalley. All thoughts are my own.
Amish Priscilla Ebersol’s life is content working with special needs children until she is humiliated when her boyfriend betrays her in front of friends and family in her church district. Amish camel farmer Gabriel Kauffman is trying to establish his business selling camel’s milk. Through a misunderstanding Priscilla is mistaken as Gabriel’s wife, and they do not bother to clear up the ruse. Misunderstandings and secrets eventually hurt those involved. Will their secrets be resolved through honesty and faith leading to unexpected blessings? Author Rachel Good’s research into special needs and camel’s milk was interesting. I found this to be an inspirational and heart-warming story.

His Pretend Amish Bride is the second book written by Rachel J. Good in her amazing series, Unexpected Amish Blessings. This book is filled with so many emotions: indiscretions, betrayal, dishonesty, secrets, love, and forgiveness. The characters are very likeable and realistic. This story is fast moving and definitely keeps the readers interest. The author once again starts her amazing with such a bang the readers will definitely keep reading
Priscilla who is planning a picnic with Matthew(who she believes to be her intended) when the bishop shows up and delivers some very unsettling news. This leaves Priscilla stunned and confused. As she is trying to make sense of what she has learned Matthew appears with more devastating news and an unrealistic request. This sets the tone for this fantastic story. So many secrets, lies, and betrayal that Priscilla takes a much needed break and goes to visit a new camel farm to purchase milk for her autistic brother. When she meets Gabe she is drawn to him but is unable to figure out why. Gabe is everything Priscilla wants in a husband but he too is harboring a secret. When Priscilla and Gabe keep getting thrown together because some deceitful people are trying to destroy his business, they discover they have feelings for each other. When secrets are revealed those feelings have to be put behind them. This story has so many twist and turns you will think nothing can be set to rights but as it plays out it is an incredible read. I enjoyed this story so much.

His Pretend Amish Bride ( Unexpected Amish Blessings Book 2 )
By: Rachel J. Good
His Pretend Amish Bride is book two in Unexpected Amish Blessings series. This is a story of hurt, love, and courage. Priscilla and Gabe’s story. Pricilla and Gabe both have been hurt and betrayed. A farmer who raises camels and sells the milk. A woman who is a teacher for special children in her school. These two are keeping secrets and where will it lead them.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book by NetGalley and the author, but was not told that I had to give a positive review. All opinions are men own.
A betrayal causes turmoil and sadness between families. Keeping secrets leads to more misunderstandings. When the truth is revealed, lives will be changed forever. I enjoy reading stories about the Amish people. This is a good one. I received a complimentary copy of the book. No review was required.
I love reading Amish books. I love them because some like this one teaches us that the Amish are not perfect in any means. They have gossips just like we do and gossips hurt. I don’t like gossips. Therefore I really didn’t a few of the characters in this story. I don’t like people who think they’re better than others.
The Amish are a fascinatig people. I love their simple way of life. I’m sure it’s not easy!
I admired Pricilla. She’s got spunk that’s for sure! I don’t think I could have done what she’s done so easily but of course that’s why I love fiction. She’s a really cool character.
My heart went out to Gabe in this story. Strong shy Gabe. He reflects the way I used to be so I could connect with him more easily. Such a sweet man. I enjoyed in getting to know him.
Yes, God can and does work in mysterious ways only He know. In His own timing of course. We need only to ask and keep prayer in our lives. He may not answer the way we’d like Him to but sometimes He answers in ways that are best for us.
I’m guilty of not prayers because we get so caught up in our lives that we tend to forget Him. I’m going to try and be better at it.
Good has written an extraordinary story of love, courage and life’s lessons in the mix. Her books are written with gentle reminders that God is always near and that He loves us no matter what.
I enjoy her books and I try never to miss one. I finished this one in two days because I wanted to savor it.
I highly recommend it.
My thanks to Netgalley and Kensington for a complimentary copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.
