There is nothing I like more than reading a book where the characters come to life. Ordinarily, I try to stay away from romances where the hero on the cover has lost his shirt, but I was delightfully surprised. The characters are developed enough so you can suspend your belief and agree that a mail order bride and her intended can fall in love at first sight. The plot, which is at the risk of becoming trite, has new life breathed into it, even if some of the actions aren’t historically accurate (I still can’t wrap my head around a shy 19th century woman with little self esteem running bases because her husband can’t run).
I found a new author to follow. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
This is a great book! If you like romance with a generous dose of spice, this author is for you!! This is the first book of the Brides of Paradise Ranch series set in the little Haskell, Wyoming. The characters are sexy and the story is intriguing. I’m on to the second book in this series. Stay tuned!!
I enjoyed reading His Perfect Bride by Merry Farmer. It was a quick, easy-to-read story. I am looking forward to reading about the other Brides of Paradise Ranch. I recommend this book and author.
I’m reviewing this a few weeks after I read the books. Its actually a good thing because I didn’t think much of it it at the time. I liked it. It was simple, functional and romantic. No major angst and some pretty steamy scenes. I liked it. I’ll probably read the next one in the series.
A very cute story. I was not sure I wanted to read American Historical Romances, but this one was good. I will have to read more by this author.
love this writers books
Very interesting, liked this book. I am looking forward to more of Merry’s books!
very good story
Interesting plot
I just love mail order bride stories! Franklin and Corva (cool name!) are a sweet couple who are fighting to overcome the scars of their past. And in a town full of baseball loving matchmakers, you have to love all the funny characters who are trying to help them fall in love. So cute!
This book made me feel good. I recommend it.
This was a great story.. Some things were a little predictable but other times not so much. It really made you wish with all your might that the main characters would truly find happiness. They of course had some obstacles but managed to overcome those and love grew and each became special to the other. They both finally had a chance to belong, to be loved, to be accepted even though they didn’t think they deserved it. Consequently, they succeeded and were rewarded in the end.
So lovely. So sweet. Great ending.
This was a good story but it stopped suddenly. There was an epilogue at the end to give some closure. I was disappointed that it seemed to end as the story was getting good.
I have read 2 other books from Merry Farmer(not from this series) the first one I liked and the second one I hated so badly I haven’t touched one of her books in a year. This book was free on Amazon and I liked the cover so I gave it a try. I am glad I did. I really liked this book. I loved the h&h. They had a great connection. The book was just a nice easy going read. All except for Vivian. I hated Vivian. She was a rude spoiled little witch that had wanted to marry the hero. He never even dated her and told her he wasn’t gonna marry her. Yet she went out of her way to treat the heroine like crap and mouth off to her. I wanted Vivian to get some payback and she didn’t. Had she fell in a ditch or off a wagon and broke a leg or arm, or maybe had all her hair fall out I would have gave this book 5 stars. Just sayin’ I mean! Still a great 4 star read.
All of her books are great and you can be sure you have a great story…
Franklin Haskell is such a tragic hero, not typical for historical romance – he actually needs saving and his mail order bride, Corva while she has her own legitimate issues, she is up to the task. I was actually sad when the story ended because they were such a sweet pair.
Great story line. Love the mail order bride books.
The hero is disabled which is a real twist on the mail order bride stories. You really have to read the whole story to get the history of both characters. I dislike repetition and this did have quite a bit from the the hero in the story. If you can ignore that, it’s a good read.
Although predictable I really enjoyed this book.
