I had a bit of a hard time getting into this story. If it had been any longer, I probably wouldn’t have finished it. It was a good premise, with a plot that flowed. I usually like everything that Beatrice Brae writes, but this one wasn’t for me. I just had a hard time liking the characters. I thought they made poor choices throughout the whole book, and they weren’t endearing to me. But I think that’s more to do with me than the writing, Still love Beatrice Brae’s writing, and I;m looking forward to her next book!

When a death bed lie results in a miraculous recovery now she needs to make it a reality
His May Wedding is the fourth book in the Seasons of Insta-Love series and is the story of Lucy and Henry.
It is early March and Lucy’s grandmother has had a heart attack and is in the hospital when the doctors give her about a week to live. When Lucy rushes to visit her her grandmother’s only wish is that she would have lived long enough to see her granddaughter married, preferably to a hunk like the one on the TV, Henry Kane. Lucy only wants to make her grandmother happy so she decides to do a white lie which starts as her dating someone, even though she isn’t, and ends up as her being engaged to San Francisco tech billionaire Henry Kane with him having proposed on Valentine’s Day, which of course she isn’t. Of course her grandmother makes a miraculous recovery which the doctors are putting down to her wanting to live to see Lucy get married. So now what does Lucy do? Well if you can’t tell the truth then you better make you lie become real and that is what she sets about doing.
So well I thought the premise of this story was fabulous and could have been really funny, sweet, interesting and very entertaining in reality it fell flat to me. There were parts of the story that were just rushed over by a sentence or two and other things that were repeated multiple times. I also did not feel the heat or connection between Henry and Lucy. As I was reading I kept thinking that it felt like the author had done an outline of the story and then just filled in a little bit instead of having the writing flow. So in the end I loved the story-line concept but was disappointed by the execution.
This is a great story by Beatrice Brae. I couldn’t put it down. I enjoyed the interactions between Lucy and Henry. I thought this was a sweet story.

She doesn’t know what to do and decides to meet him. She makes a bold plan but as soon as she meets him, she knows that she can’t go through with it. Henry is intrigued by her. Its a short story, good plot but it would have been better if the story is longer for the reader to appreciate the characters more. It feels like the story was compressed. Nevertheless, it is still a good read.

When Lucy told her grandmother that she was marrying the man on television, she never expected that white lie to backfire. Now Lucy will do everything she can to get a meeting with him in hopes that he will play along. What she got was a very interested Henry who was captivated with her. Instead of doing what she should have things got out of hand. Now Lucy has to face the music. Will her short lived romance with Henry end because of her deception?
