I love this series, but this was emotionally difficult to read – or was for me. Nevertheless, an excellent book, and I’ve also finished the next one. No matter the emotional difficulty, I will read every book in this series – and I hope there are many more to read!
A dark story that was not at all like the previous books in the series. It also jumps back and forth between different locations, people (focused on), and makes it difficult to enjoy. Also, the actions and commitments of some characters were at variance with who they said they were. Only a 2.5 for me.
This is part of a terrific mystery series. I am waiting anxiously for the next book.
Terrific historical fiction series.
I have enjoyed all of the Maggie Hope books. I have learned a lot about WWII. They all have great stories and are well told.
Maggie Hope is an intriguing woman character in the man’s world of WW II clandestine British secrets. As she interacts with historical figures, the reader comes to regard them on a more personal level.
Stumbled upon this series and really enjoying it.
Character – Maggie Hope – is easy to love. This is such a wonderful series based in WW2 England.
Maggie Hope is one of my new favorite characters. I can’t wait after reading one to start the next one.
It makes me think about all the spies that were sent to Europe during the war, not realizing that they were changed so much by the things they saw and that they had to do , especially the women, they had PTSS before anyone gave it a name and started treating it , yes and the young men too. Even those serving in the war I saw what it did to my Uncle, he never was the same after, never worked a day again in his like , just sat and drank his whole made wine.
