His Magnolia by Dori Lavelle a five-star read that will show you how to flourish. This is one novella that will suck you up and spit you out a short number of pages later feeling like you have been through the emotional wringer, it feels like I have read hundreds more pages as there is so much emotion and power in the short amount of pages. This had everything to make it an amazing read. Maggie was great and it was nice seeing Brax show her that, but my fave part was the epilogue, that just made me smile so bright my husband thought I was losing the plot.
They share much in common.
This is a great novella. Captures a ton of feels in a few chapters.
Magnolia “Maggie” Anderson is 32, still living at home with her dreadful mother. She works at her high school library. But what keeps her immobile is her mother’s emotional blackmail. She has written a book.
She literally runs into Brax Nash in a car vs bike incident.
Brax is 37 (loved that they were both age appropriate). He’s wildly successful and attractive but shares a hard time with school mates with Maggie.
It’s sweet, a dash of heat and more importantly, triumph over insecurities.
Recommend.

I usually find that short reads (less than 80 pages) can’t develop both the plot and the characters well enough to evoke enough feelings from the reader them to feel immersed in the story. That is not the case in this story. It is well planned and thought-out so that each interaction between the characters draws out the most emotions from the reader while showing the most growth and complexity of the character.
Maggie has it hard. Bullied her whole life by her schoolmates, exes, and even her mom to feel worthless. It’s worn her down until she really does feel that way. That is until she literally runs into Brax and he changes her prospective by showing her how wrong they all are. He’s rich, handsome, and he used to be bullied too. He’s not going to let her continue to live her life with the mask of ugliness her bullies keep her under. Together these two late bloomer will show the world how far they have come.

Magnolia…aka Maggie, has been stuck in her life. Her father passed away, her mother guilt trips her into staying with her, even thought she berates and verbally abuses Maggie daily. Then she’s almost hit on her bike….when she opens her eyes, there is Brax. He falls for her, she falls for him, but wonders if it’s true for him. Love the ending!!
