My first memory was of a slap, hard across the face: the sting on my cheek and the jarring of my bones as I slammed back into my bed. It was my dad who had hit me.I had been four. Most of my memories were much of the same and no one ever saw, no one ever fought to help, no one ever cared. Then we moved. My new neighbor cared, rescued the twelve-year-old I had been from a beating. Always thought I’d … Always thought I’d suffer the nightmare alone, I was wrong.
Mace Donati saved me that day in all the ways a person could be saved.
And his daughter, Mia, she became the friend I had always wanted, my conscience when my own faltered, the light that led me home when I had lost my way.
The girl who grew into the only woman I would ever love.
But when you realize you’re more like your father than the good people who took you in and gave you a home, the only way to return their kindness is to let them go.
I let them go, got so far lost in the shadows I couldn’t remember who I was anymore. Mia never gave up on me. She fought for me, kept the light on so I’d find my way back.
And when I did, life threw us a curveball. I had to hurt Mia in order to save her.
But when my past comes back to haunt me and I almost lose her, I’m ready to fight for her…fight to find a way back into her heart while keeping the demons from my past from finishing what they started.

this book was a raw, beautiful and dark romance. it will bring all kinds of emotions out. If you you liked beautifully damaged you will love cole and mia. Cole was a hurt damaged boy that grew into this bad ass man with a heart of gold. Mia grew up protected and sheltered by her dad.
She loves things all things glittery and sparkly. She doesn’t understand the ugly in the world. She has the heart of a tigress, loyal and is very stubborn. They were brought together by an ugly situation and throughout the story you see them change and grow together. This story is not all hearts and flowers, but is beautiful just the same.
“My very first memory was of him. “
Amazing. Wonderful. Unforgettable. Heart-capturing.
These are some of the first words that come to mind when I try to describe this book. It’s simply all that and much more. Any attempt of mine to write down accurately my feelings for it won’t be succeeded because I will always find something else to say about it. For the first time I came face-to-face with both its blurb and cover, I knew instantly that this story will enter the list of the stories that have stolen my heart.
His Light in the Dark is a book that combines many things together, but everything that happens in there, happens under the giant umbrella that is Mia and Cole’s epic love. Because IT IS epic! No other adjective can describe it better than this.
Their love start when Cole was 12 and Mia was 7 year olds. The cause of their meeting that set the fire, passion, love between them was the beating that Cole was taking from his father. Mia’s father had become a witness of abusive behavior of Cole’s father on Cole, and he stepped up and took him home where Mia took care of his wounds. Little by little, Cole started to become a member of their family and finding a light in the dark. And from that moment when Cole had sat and let Mia take care of him, the downhill of their epic love was inevitable. So, as the years were passing, both Mia and Cole never could got each other out of their hearts because it would be like tearing their whole heart right of their bodies. But, also, along with these years, some very dark and bad things started to take place whose end no one could ever predict.
Reading through this story, I fell in love instantly with every character of the book – good or bad. Cole and Mia immediatelly claimed a big piece of my heart as their own, Mia’s father and aunt simply got its own piece and as, for the others, all got one under the huge part which is called His Light in the Dark. Cole and Mia are simply phenomenal. The love that I got to witness through my reading, made me extremelly jealous, because, except from the G I A N T obstacles and difficulties that they had to endure so they at last can reach their HEA, it’s just perfect. Cole is a man that no matter what he’s going through in his life, his first priority is Mia an her safety. Everything he does, he does it with Mia as his main line of thinking and act. Mia is a head-strong, strong, amazing female who fights with all she has and never gives up on the people she loves more than anyhting in this world. And Cole falls into that category. And these two come together, the result is plain magic. How can you not be jealous of that?
This is my first story of L. A. Fiore and I have to admit that her writing and the way her mind works and unfolds a story, was not only a very pleasant surprise, but also an addicting one. She never made me able to stop reading even in the very very early hours of the morning where most of the world is sound asleep. It was an impossible task. I wanted to just keep and keep and keep going. And without doubt, she earned her place into my list of the new authors – for me – that I will always keep an eye on for future reading works of theirs. I really can’t wait to read her next story I will have the pleasure to fall into my greedy, bookworming hands……..
