I almost want to tag this one as humor. It takes two very unique people to make this love story work, and these guys are definitely unique. But it works for them, and Kate Hawthorne made it work for me.
This is probably going to sound crazy but this was the most in-depth, realistic, and unique portrayal I have ever seen of love. The characters were so very influenced by their pasts, even if they don’t realize it at first. The pain they felt growing up, the way it shaped them as adults, well it affects what type of love and commitment they need. It’s going to sound strange but I believe that everyone is different. We are shaped growing up with different experiences so of course peoples needs in a relationship are different as well. This book stared that right in the face and made you acknowledge that.
The characters were real. They were broken. They were missing pieces that required one another to make a whole. And yes to some that sounds a bit intense or maybe like they lack self-esteem and or the ability to love themselves and they are not wrong. Not everyone is strong enough to overcome their past and emerge stronger. In fact from what I have seen its the opposite. Even when we know how it affects us we can’t bring ourselves to just let it go and not care anymore. And so while some may be perfectly fine on their own loving who they have become there are people out there that need someone to love them before they can see how wonderful they are. That they are needed and wanted. This book touched on that. And by touched on I meant dove in headfirst proving that there is more than one kind of relationship and love and while it’s possessive and smothering to some, to others its affirmation they deserve love and its the type of love they need to feel secure.
This book is great for anyone thinking they are wrong or broken because they don’t love themselves before trying to find someone to complete them. Also, anyone who likes sexy scenes and sweet moments.
A sweet love story with a side of stalking and obsession. Joel Reading has been kicked out of his family because he’s gay. He’s alone and struggling until he meets Gabriel who changes his world. To Gabriel, Joel is his world, and there’s nothing he wouldn’t do for Joel. I love the intensity of love between Gabriel and Joel, as well as the obsession and stalking. This was a fun story with interesting characters and hot sex scenes.
I found this story a little weird. Initially, I wondered if it was like a fallen angel with Gabriel’s name and Adonis and Athena and all the someone saving him a few time and him not seeing the savior, but it is not. They are all human. I also found Gabriel a bit creepy with the stalker thing going on… but I loved it. The story is unusual, interesting and I wanted to keep listening to see what was going on and who Gabriel was and how our little Red would react. The story is well-written where Gabriel comes off as creepy but also as sweet and loving.
I listened to the audio version and Loved Kenneth Obi’s narration. The voices he uses are good and help form a vision of the character. The pacing and excitement are spot on too.
If you like unique stories, Age gap, stalkers, take on children’s stories ( I thought of Little red riding hood and the big bad wolf since he is mentioned as little red and Gabriel as the Wolf., some hot man-sex and a great romance you will like this!
(Audible version) I really loved this age gap story with a dark edge, narrated brilliantly by Kenneth Obi! Lots of steam and plenty of feels. Highly recommended.
This book takes twisted and turns it into something kind of sweet. Th chemistry, the emotions it was all a visceral.
This book is an unique taboo love story. It keeps your interest and makes you need to see it play out. Definitely recommend
Holy hell! This book was amazing and sexy and creepy as hell. Joel and Gabriel were both fascinating and mentally screwed up characters. While I wouldn’t want a real life friend involved in a twisted relationship like theirs, I found myself rooting for them. And questioning my own sanity for that very fact! I couldn’t put down my Kindle until I’d finished this story, and for the majority of it I was torn between wanting to whisk Joel away from Gabriel’s clutches and wanting them to stay together. Even to the last page, I still felt both horrified and hopeful. Read this mindf*-k of a book. It will stay with me for a long time, and I’m sure other readers will feel the same.
