Patty Cason has always packed a few extra pounds. Even though she’s a successful college campus minister in L.A., this is her private struggle, something she’s tried to keep hidden from her friends and family while it slowly erodes her confidence and social life. It doesn’t help that she’s been privately crushing on Reverend Duke Carlson for months, a doctoral student who hardly seems to notice … notice her existence.
When her campus co-pastor’s fiancee, Tanya, invites her to serve as her maid of honor at their wedding in Wyoming, Patty is forced to face her biggest fears all at once. Not only does she have to fly commercial to the Broken J Ranch, she ends up sitting next to Duke the entire trip, because he’s agreed to serve as best man.
To make matters even more stressful, Tanya and her fiancé have coaxed the painfully bashful minister into having Patty serve as his Plus One during the wedding festivities. Now, she’ll more or less be dating the guy of her dreams for the week. There’s only one problem with that plan: Duke has no idea he’s the guy of her dreams. What could possibly go wrong with an arrangement like that?

His Heart, Her Love is a romantic story where the couple fell in love while attending a retreat at the Broken J Ranch and now is about to return there for their wedding. The Broken J Ranch is a magical place that we have visited in other stories in this series. Wes and Tanya are setting their best friends up hoping they make a romantic connection while spending the week at the ranch. Duke was a minister working on his master degree and never took time to date. Patty was a co-pastor at the university for the students along with Wes and had not found her special one. However, this story looks at two horrific crimes that happened to Duke and Patty when they were younger and how it made both their faith and their resilience for life stronger and made them want to help others physically and spiritually. But can their past hold them back from a romance of their own, or will a celebrity staying at the Broken J keep them apart. A very good book to put on your must read list!
Their one plus, that’s what Duke and Patty has to be at their best friends’ wedding. Will their insecurities and/or past keep them from a HEA, or maybe someone unexpectedly showing up. ….
The subject of overcoming abuse has been handled in a carefully way. The way they help each other is sweet and you will finish this book with a smile.
Characters that have depth and emotion. Patty Cason and Reverend Duke Carlson have it all. They will bring out your emotions to the fullest. I was pulled into this book immediately. I so enjoy when couples can overcome a past they feel may hurt their chances for a happily ever after. Humor and love are two very powerful emotions and you will find them in this book. Jo Grafford has a way of bringing her characters to life.
Hurtful pasts have a way of making one doubt. God can work magic and let you heal. I truly enjoyed this latest book in the Whispers in Wyoming Series and I highly recommend it.
Another heart-warming story! Full of emotions and excitement for me. I love that even if this is a standalone clean romance I was able to read about the characters from the previous novel whom I came to love as well. 100 stars for Pattykins and Saint Duke!
A socially awkward man who has never dated suddenly needs a “Plus One” for his best friend’s wedding….why not have the Maid of Honor fill that spot?! She’s been crushing on him for months and he’s never noticed her so this is her chance! Ah, the plot thickens! Actually, Duke, has certainly noticed Patty but he doesn’t know what to do around her! There’s a reason for his awkwardness and it’s heartbreaking! Once Patty finds out about it, she is very compassionate. Patty is vivacious and friendly to everyone but because of her weight issues, she uses those traits to hide behind the pain her weight causes her. When she has a personal revelation, her life completely changes! Come along on a wonderful journey with this couple who is so right for each other!
Loved this book!!! I wanted Patty for a friend when I met her in His Wish, Her Command. Love that even though she struggles with weight issues like “real” people do, she still found her love, and she also discovers the reason she had issues with food, and relationships! A great read from one of my favorite authors!
