This is a type of story that i’ve never read before, and I loved how the story took place and the attitude that the characters have. This story shows some of the bad characteristics of people during our time but also gives some hope because not all of them are as bad as others. I love that the author found a way to show the bad and good characteristics of men and even some for women. Also, I hate cliffhangers but knowing that there’s another book, I just can’t wait to read the next one!
I started this book on Radish and couldn’t wait the time between chapters so researched until I found this book. Thank You EM Brown for writing I am hooked. Went right into the next book. Please read and review your books.
WARNING: This novel contains strong and explicit language, graphic scenes or other sensitive or taboo content that may be disturbing to some readers. This is BDSM auction book.
Kimani signed up to be bid on at the Scarlett Auction after her friend had attended and returned home covered in bruises. She planned to get auctioned off to write an expose story. She had no plans to actually having sex.
Ben is not looking forward to spending time with a man he needs as a contact to help his uncle’s basketball team and is totally disgusted with his invitation to join him in attending a sex auction. That was until he arrived at the cabin and saw one of the women that Jake had purchased. He doesn’t know what came over him but when he saw her bruised and swollen cheek he decided to buy her from Jake.
This book is part of a continuing series. The cliffhanger just let’s you know that Kimani and Ben’s story continues to book two. This book is very well written and the characters are full of depth. The sex is smoking hot and I would recommend this book to anyone who read this genre. Great story by Em Brown!
This was my first time reading Em Brown. I’ve gotta say, she’s got me interested.
This story is about a hoping to be journalist trying to get the next big story. She goes undercover and gets bought in an auction for rich guys. The dude that buys her is horrible. Luckily, his friend has enough…dare I say compassion…for how the first dude was treating her and he bought her from him. Still with me? He seems a lot better and slower, but this is what she got herself into. She thinks she can pull out before they consummate the deal, but from the way her body is reacting I doubt that will happen.
Yes, the story is short, but as you can see it’s a series. I would definitely continue to see where the story goes and if Miss “Montana” will give it or dive off a cliff trying to escape.
Em Brown also narrated her own book. She did a pretty good job, there were some bits where the mic sound like it had issues.
Overall, not bad at all. Give it a try.
I received a free audiobook copy in exchange for my honest review.
EM BROWN shows us the good and the bad side of BDSM in this first book of the series. And a lecture to learn: do not lie about who you are and what you want..the results could be devastating. You could end up with an jerk like Jake who’s out to use, abuse and dehumanize in a sick way. There might not be an Benjamin there to save your day…
controversial verbal and physical abuse and unhealthy methods are a theme as well as racial issues (the main event characters are Asian and African).
But there is also emphasis, understanding, patience and a good dose of humor, intelligent dialogues and enough sass to not sink in an abyss of violence.
I was hooked from the beginning til end and will start on the second book right away.
I received an ARC copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I Kamani wants a job at a San Francisco Tribune as a journalist but she wants to do an expose’ but Sam the editor is having none of it because it could put the paper in jeopardy. Kamani has other ideas and convinces Sam to let her go undercover to the Scarlet Auction and she will keep him informed. She gets the job because of her friend who told her a little about what happened to her and what she was paid and the fact that she was badly beaten she still refused to tell Kamani anything else. Once she is in she realizes that the attorneys that are going over the NDA’s that they all have to sign before attending the auction. The problem was no one got to read the hold thing and she was upset because she didn’t know what she was in for. Once she was in line to go on stage was the first time she got to see or talk to the other women talk to anyone because they had all been separated until the auction. All virgins cost the most and then the other beautiful women were bid on, they were required to spend a week with the men who purchased them and if everything went well they were paid 40% of their cost. They were shocked, well Kamani was shocked that they could not get their phones or luggage with them they were put into a limo and away they went in this case to a small town and they were staying in a 3 story cabin and they both were actually shocked they are sent down to the basement until needed. This is a very interesting look into what can happen when the rich want to play. and the women willing to play with them. I purchased this book. I am providing an honest review.
If you enjoy BillionaireBDSM then this story is for you. Interesting story line, with believable characters and gives us a interesting view of young wealth and its distortion. Em Brown develops interesting secondary characters. Along with the good and bad of BDSM behavior which I enjoyed. It is a cliff hangar which I don’t mind, but this one was startling. Good read and one BDSM fans will enjoy.
This was a pretty good read but I was always expecting more. More sex, more torture more life saving…..there just could have been more for me. I kept rerading expecting more.
Hot!!
This book was not for me. It’s slow pace didnt allow for any actual story or character development. You don’t want to know these characters or cheer for them or hate them, youll just want it to be over. The writing was lackluster and lacked any punch. And the continuous “slamming” of other writters/books was enough to turn me off completely. Hard pass.
I LOVE Em Brown! I’d read “The Taming of Miss Primrose” and was hooked. In “Bought,” Ms. Brown shows her familiarity of the BDSM world and why “50 Shades of Gray” does not accurately describe that world. I’ve never hated a character as ferociously as Jake, or been as disappointed in a character as much as Candi. I’m dying to read the rest of the series, but that will have to wait until m working again.
Annoying cliffhanger. This is the first of three books but the third one also ends with a cliffhanger and the next book isn’t available yet. It would be a good read if it was complete.
It’s really only half a book. Its very short and you have to buy the sequel to finish the story (a marketing technique I find very annoying). I wasn’t taken enough with the story to bother.
One of the worst I’ve ever puchased. I did not finish because it was so bad.
Do not like the story line or how woman are portrayed.
too much character development and very slow plot
Nice to see an Asian man and African American woman as the lead characters. I read this series in less than a day. Book 4 comes out in Oct and can`t wait.
Leaves you needing to buy the next book
I liked this set of books. I like Ben, the hero a lot. He’s ethical and complicated and is also a serious Dom. It was refreshing to have a non-white couple for a change! It is a cliffhanger in that the story does not end with book 1. But the writing is good, the proofreading is good (very few annoying errors) and the sex is hot. I even bought books 2 & 3 (I rarely spend more than .99 on these kinds of books – I spent $6.24 for books 2 & 3), thinking this was the whole story and b/c I wanted to see what happens to this couple. Beware – book 4 isn’t written yet and book 3 ends with a cliffhanger.
Most of the characters are unlikable. Total cliffhanger but not really interested enough to find out what happens next. I like EM Brown’s other work so perhaps it’s just this series.
