Ryan has been living a lie his entire life in fear of losing his NFL career, because of who he is behind the lie. Football is all he’s ever wanted, the thing he loves most in the world—until he meets a gorgeous man in a bar, with bleached-blond hair, a sexy British accent, and a Piranhas hat, who changes everything.Alec doesn’t understand American football—why would he? The cute stranger in the … stranger in the bar doesn’t need to know that though. What starts as a simple white lie about his favorite NFL player, turns into so much more.
Living in a new city, thousands of miles from his home town, the last thing Alec expects is to be swept up into a secret romance with one of the Portland Piranhas’ biggest stars, but is falling in love enough for Ryan to risk losing his career by coming out? Is it enough for Alec to go back in the closet until Ryan retires?
This is the first book in the Portland Piranhas series, but can be read as a standalone.

His Favorite Player is the first book in the Portland Piranhas series by author Alie Noland. This story is written in dual pov. I love dual pov it allows me into the minds of both characters in a more personal way.
Ryan is an NFL player. He doesn’t think he is better than anyone else he is really a humble person. He doesn’t want other people’s attention on him. He is having a quiet beer with his best friend when he spots a man alone in the back corner of the bar. He goes over to say hi.
I love the quiet nerdiness of Ryan he is the kind of friend who is loyal and steady.
Alec is cute and sweet. Has on nail polish and doesn’t really follow American Football. He is a British graphics artist.
I liked watching these two fall in love. I found the story to be really sweet and emotional read. I love a good true love wins the day story and this is that. I highly recommend this story to a true romantic I don’t think you would be disappointed at all, I know I was not.
Five Shooting Stars
I really liked His Favorite Player, it was super sweet, sexy and hot. I enjoyed the fast read and getting to know Alec and Ryan. I loved that there wasn’t a lot of angst and mostly sweet communication. And I loved that I didn’t have to understand football. The story was about the men and that’s what I enjoyed. I recommend this book.
A great sports romance! I liked it all and look forward to reading book 2!
I’m a sucker for a good sports romance, and the fact this one is M/M soooooo good!, add to the main character wasn’t jerk? just makes it that much better
I loved reading about Ryan and Alec. I loved reading their relationship begin, and grow, and develop. Seeing Ryan and Alec grow and develop as characters was really interesting to read.
I hope some of the secondary characters get their own stories, and this is just the beginning of a nice long series, cause i will never say no to more M/M sport romances
I really enjoyed this book it was my first by Alie Nolan but I admit not my last such a great story. I was at a sports bar with Colton a friend of mine when I met Alex, he was so adorable I just couldn’t help myself, I’m not out so it’s difficult to say the least. But there is just something about him that draws me in, I just have to get to know him, be around him, so I start seeing him, now to see where this romance takes us.
This was such a sweet book about closeted football star Ryan and the sweetly, outgoing Englishman Alec. Their romance had a lot of laughs, a lot of acceptance and a lot of emotion. Absolutely loved this book and cannot wait to read more from this author!
His Favorite Player is the first book in the Portland Piranhas series by Alie Nolan. This story is a contemporary m/m romance with a sports tilt. The story has a little drama, dealing with staying in the closet in fear or losing a Football career… but mostly is is fun, sweet funny and just enough heat. Ryan and Alec are great characters who I adore together from first meeting. The book made my heart happy. I loved it and can’t wait to read more.
I received an advanced reader’s copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.
I just discovered this author a couple of weeks ago and finally got around to reading her book. All I can say is wow. I wasn’t sure what to expect going in but I am so glad I opened the book. I loved every moment from start to finish and I cannot wait for more in this series… highly recommend this book!
