Love this author
It is my first dark gothic book and I really liked it
She writes the best Gothic romances, enough mystery and romances make a great combination
Gothic at it’s best.
Very good book really enjoyed it.
Really liked it
This was a good Gothic mystery and romance. Although a bit draggy. Emma goes to Manorbrier castle to be a governess, and to find out the real cause of death of her cousin Delia. She meets Lord Anthony, the widower, and is quickly attracted. The story plot is good but it has too many distracting descriptions of Emma’s thoughts of how she’s sexually …
Wonderful
Really liked reading this book. Well written too
I’m usually not a reader of anything gothic but this is the second book by Eve Silver that I have read and couldn’t put down until I was done with the book. Characters are strong and the women are not simpering. I liked this one even better as I practice in a medical field. Great historical information. Strongly recommended for romance readers who …
Lots of twists to the story-kept me turning the pages
I had some problems believing the basic plot of this book. Gross lack of communication seems to be the main cause of everything. It is understandable that a new governess wouldn’t be told everything at first, but after she’s been there awhile and is sleeping with the lord of the manor, it is preposterous that no one explains why she must avoid …
The plot is reminiscent of Jane Eyre, but with much more compelling characters. Very well written. I was hooked from the first page and had trouble putting this one down!
It was a great gothic tale but it moved very slow, with lots of repetitive thoughts.
Kind of slow-reading in spots, but overall a good read
This book had a touch of Jane Eyre and Laura and was just up my alley for easy reading.
loved it
A good read with some spice added in. For those who like a clean read (I don’t) go ahead and read this novel. Well written and flows nicely.
Intriguing. The characters are complicated and dark and you learn a lot about healthcare at that time and me too
Not my favorite on this series. Pretty predictable and had me frustratedly wishing everyone would just talk to each other
