When tragedy strikes, everything Carly Bishop ever loved about Christmas is destroyed.Distraught and grief-stricken over the deaths of her fiancé and only brother, Carly left Hood Hamlet and her Christmas spirit behind to start over somewhere new. But now, six years later, her pregnant sister-in-law needs help, so Carly comes home to face her past and…the holiday she no longer celebrates. … she no longer celebrates.
Mountain rescuer Jake Porter believes he could have saved his two friends that fateful day and kept the Bishop family from experiencing such a heart-wrenching loss. He hopes helping Carly rediscover the magic of Christmas will help him finally move forward with his life, but he’s not certain anything is a match for the guilt that’s kept him stuck all these years.
As Jake and Carly spend more time together, attraction grows, but toe-curling mistletoe kisses aside, his late best friend would never think Jake was good enough for his little sister. The question is, is that enough reason for him to stay away from her?

A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE!!!
Going home to the mountain looming in the background reminding you of what you have lost is never easy. Great story of love lost and new love found. Looking forward to learning the stories about the other members of the community in the next series.
I was provided an ARC to give an honest review.
Makes you want to head for the slopes. Interesting characters. Good community. Thoughtful background. Interesting other community friends and relationships.
t was more about Christmas traditions than romance. For this particular story, that’s okay. But they are also different people who have new perspectives and joys. He didn’t know what her favorite flower was or how much she hated the mountain. Giving up something you love is never easy and giving it up for someone you love just plants the seeds for future fights. Plus how will she feel when he’s still risking his life after the babies come. They needed to establish lines of communication already not him making sweeping decisions and her dealing with the impact.
A nice easy read, but I spent most of the book waiting for details of the brother and fiancés deaths. Author never reveals exactly how two experienced climbers never came home from a climb.
Wonderful book, full of Christmas spirit.
It was pretty good. Typical. Read anything holiday related and was not disappointed.
Quite predictable, so it wasn’t that great to me.
Great story. Shows that love can be sweeter after a tragedy. Loved this story.
EASY READ LOVED THE CHARACTERS NICE AFTERNOON READ
Really enjoyed it!
I enjoyed this book and the love story. Kept me wanting more. I loved the ending. Thanks for an enjoyable read!
Very nice book. A feel good book.
Loved it!
Another good book by Melissa McClone!
When Carly comes home to be with her sister-in-law for the birth of her third child, too many memories from her past haunt her. Hannah was married to her brother until a climbing accident takes the lives of him and the man Carly was to marry on the day before the wedding. Will Jake’s volunteering for the rescue team cause problems in their relationship?
This is the first book I read by Melissa McClone. I like the plot in the characters. She added a few twists and turns which caused me to wonder if there would be a happily ever after. I like this other well enough that I’m going to read the next book.
Mountain climber rescuer and his fiance lost two climbers who were friends. They struggle to overcome qualms of being together climbing.
Enjoyed this story.
Good Christmas read. I plan to read more from Melissa McClone
This a lovingly written Christmas story. I enjoyed the characters and the description of Christmas in a small town.
