KaneElspeth Crandall is the most delectable morsel in the room, and I am a starving man. Nevertheless, I’m surprised when she accepts my offer to spend some one-on-one time together at my place. She doesn’t seem like a vixen, but she’s got what I’m craving, and who am I to question fate?In our short time together, I realize she is more than I ever dreamed of, and like a fool, I let her walk out … fool, I let her walk out the door.
Elspeth
Kane Raventon is walking sex on a stick. He’s not the kind of guy who notices girls like me. When he comes to my rescue with an invitation to escape a crappy situation, I don’t resist. He’s nothing like I expected. Then a voice from my past reminds me of how this will end, and I know what I have to do.
I won’t keep making the same mistakes – not even for Kane Raventon.

Well written story. Interesting strong characters. Nicely created reality. Lots of doubts and raw emotions. Nice read.

When she receives some unwanted attention, he goes to her rescue. Is surprised when she proposition ‘s him.
Kane and Elspeth bond over their love of cars, and whiskey. Spend a hot night together. While they both want more. Kane isn’t looking for a relationship, just a bed warmer. Elspeth is trying not to be the counter she has been accused of in the past.
When Kane can’t get her off his mind, he goes looking for Elspeth. All she wants is to be “a” priority.
Fast paced and steamy short romance. Great epilogue to wrap their story.
This is a wonderful short story that has characters that pull you in and keep you reading straight thru to the end. Kane and Elspeth are meant for each other.
Elspeth and Kane meet at the opening of his new club and have an instant attraction. He takes her home and after one night together they both want more but are afraid to tell the other. This is a quick, sexy romance with believable characters and a great addition to The Mayflower Series.
This was a well laid out book. I am not sure that there was anything unique by this story, but it was worth the read.

I really enjoy reading these short collaboration stories that the Flirt Club authors write. This book is no different. This is a great story about two people that are sceptical of relationships to say the least but for valid reasons. Elspeth goes to a club as a VIP guest with her friend Mariah and catches the eye of the owner Kane. They hook up and go their separate ways. However, Kane becomes miserable without her. Rhis was an awesome short story on how Elspeth and Kane get past their pasts and create their future…….together.

This book is part a multi author set if you haven’t read the flirt club then you need to start They are all quick short reads that really flow well and draw you in
This is Elspeth and Kane’s story He is the owner of a night club and has a reputation for his one night stands. When Elspeth is dancing and a guy ties to pick her up and won’t take no for an answer then Kane steps in This leads to a night of passion between them The next day he shows her the door as is his usual style Will he realise that he actually wants more with her and will she give him a second chance You will have to read to see
I have liked Laney Powell’s books in the Flirt Club the best out of all the authors. Consistently.
This book was good, but not the best one of hers, IMHO. Mild spoilers below,
Maybe. It was a pretty short book, so it’s hard to review without giving something of the plot.
Kane was contradictory, and cocky, characterization was just all over the place. All he wants is a one night stand, then gets mad when she leaves, which is what he wanted.
Elspeth was insecure— thinking things like “why would a man like him want to be with a girl like me”. She decides to have a one night stand, but gets mad/dissatisfied when it turns out to be: a one night stand.
I think Kane’s overplayed as the sexy, no-commitment, driven workaholic and she’s underplayed as the plain, frumpy girl.
IDK, I didn’t hate it but it didn’t hit all the notes I know Laney Powell is capable of in her Spar Island series.
The story was SHORT, like under an hour to read, short. And I think it needed to be longer to make it all connect and feel cohesive.
Zane and Elspeth both liked cars, so what else made them a match? It felt pretty rushed, story-wise.
I was so excited to get to do an ARC for Laney on Booksprout. I think I jinxed myself. She’s a great writer, so I’m chalking this up to maybe this book just not being a fit for me personally.
Four stars on the quality of Laney’s writing and her overall Spar Island series of characters. And because a female character who drives a muscle car is cool! If you’ve liked Laney’s other books you will probably like this one, too.

Elspeth went out to an exclusive club with her friend Mariah. When they enter Mariah points out Kane Raventon to Elspeth and tells her that he is even too dangerous for a woman like her. Powerful, dangerous and never stays with the same woman. While she is dancing with Mariah a man moves in on Elspeth and tries to put the moves on her and refuses to take no for an answer until Kane shows up. Once the guys sees who Kane is he backs off and leaves. Elspeth sees this as her chance to seduce Kane. Kane is surprised when she agrees to come home with him and they share an amazing night however once they are done he shows her the door. Elspeth is hurt but she knows what the night really is a hook up and tries to move on. Will Kane miss out on his Butter Cup? Can Elspeth see it in her heart to give him a second chance?
This is a great story that will draw you in from the first page. The chemistry between them is off the charts hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Elspeth is talked into going out to a new club with her friend. She didn’t expect to meet the gorgeous owner of the club Kane! Kane has put everything he has into opening his new club, he doesn’t have time for anything else. That is until he meets gorgeous curvy Elspeth! He realizes he is in love with her, but is he too late?

I am loving these flowers stories. I also love when a curvy woman gets her happily ever after. Another Spar Island Girl finds her man and we even get a glimpse of Harper and Marcus.

short and powerful. She is a woman who wants her to be appreciated and he someone who did not expect to find someone in his busy work schedule. I enjoyed this book, it just reads all the other books in the series nicely away. from me therefore 5 stars

Short, sweet story of two souls hurt by past relationships never expecting to ever have a person who gets them. Elspeth and Kane slowly come to the realization that life could be so much more by taking a chance – learning to make sure to keep the other a priority.

Absolutely Fantastic! The storyline is well-developed, witty, funny, and relatable – a captivating romance with lots of steam, hot sex scenes and beautiful cars! The characters are likeable and very sweet; the chemistry between them is instant and off the charts. Definitely recommended!

I enjoyed this quick read romance. A fun plot that focuses on Elspeth and Kane. The characters were likable and the chemistry steamy. A charming blend of sweetness and emotion are paired with a bit of drama and emotional turmoil into a very enjoyable read. This is my independent, impartial review.
Finding your priorities
I enjoyed Elspeth and Kane’s story. It was romantic and sexy It also showed how you can carry a situation from your past into your future and let it lead your actions and how when the right person comes along you need to change or you could lose them. Elspeth was told by a past relationship that she was a clinger. She didn’t think making someone a priority was being clingy but the words stick with her. On a night out with a friend she meets Kane, the most gorgeous man she’s ever seen. Kane is the owner of the club. A club that has become his life. He doesn’t have time for a relationship or obligations Elspeth and Kane feel the attraction. Elspeth, out of character for her, propositions Kane and he takes her up on it. Elspeth tries to remain cool and collected, not be a clinger. Kane tries to talk himself out of how this feels, how right this could be. If they can both get out of their heads they’ll find what they both need.
His Buttercup by Laney Powell a four-star read that will shine on through. I loved the whole theme of Go and Kane Raventon is someone I would love to bloom for, but its Elspeth Crandell that really shines, she is used to being under the shadow of her best friend Mariah, even though Mariah attempts to give her more light, sometimes you just have to dig yourself out. Will it be more than the thrill of the chase? Only time will tell.
