Nova Kingsley had a severe case of writer’s block. When her friend suggested a trip to the Midwest, the Las Vegas native thought it would be exactly the change of pace she needed. Just a couple of weeks of peaceful, uninterrupted work would get her out of the rut she had found herself in. But that was before she met Colt.Colt McCormick had retreated to the woods of rural Missouri to start a new … woods of rural Missouri to start a new life with his dog, Bo.
His cabin retreat is all he has but he does his best to make it his.
When he gets a visitor from Las Vegas,
he thinks his lucks about to turn around.
The chemistry is palpable, but one woman is determined to have Colt to herself.
Will she be able to succeed in driving Colt and Nova apart or will they do anything for love?

I listened to the Audiobook, and this book was just ok. The narration was kind of bland. It seemed to me more like the narrator was only reading the straight copy of the book. I didn’t sense any emotion at all.
I can only judge from the audio version. There seemed to be too much going on in too short a period of time to do justice to the story.
Nova and Colt had a serious case of instalove. Not a big fan of that, especially when Nova experienced major doubts TWICE in the story. I didn’t like Nova’s reaction to seeing Colt and Angel? Angie? But, I don’t appreciate that reaction in any book.
I’m being generous because I honestly had no sense of time regarding the timeline, but these people made MAJOR life decisions within a period of 2, count ’em, 2 weeks.
If the narration was not going to be on point, then the story needed to be. I thought more would be done with the stalker theme, like Nova would have more than one run in with the woman, maybe meet the friends more than once, or even meet the mom.
I wondered what had happened to Angie to make her fall apart and be so desperate and needy. Especially since her lack of attractiveness and unkempt appearance was emphasized each time she appeared in the book. Seemed like there was a possible subplot there just figuring out her situation.
Anyhoo, I give this a 2.5 stars. It wasn’t sweet, or romantic, suspenseful, or steamy. There were sex scenes, but they didn’t make an impression. Maybe if I had read the book instead of listening to it. I don’t know. I would recommend you read this book (or listen to it) and judge for yourself.
I voluntarily listened to and reviewed the Audiobook.
3.5 star review:
Well written story with nice storyline and plot. Characters are well defined and described. They develop through the story. A very fast paced story with instant love and attraction. But that also makes it lack a bit of depth to it. A couple that has a lot of things in the past they really have to get rid of before they can have their HEA. But that is not always that easy as it sounds.
A story with drama, action and lots of steam. I like the twists and turns.
DON’T LET THE PAST RUIN YOUR PRESENT OR FUTURE
I rated this story 3.5 stars. Nova Kingsley, an author, and Colt McCormick, a Midwest cabin resort owner, find their lives intertwined and learn that their pasts don’t dictate their futures. There are many decisions to be made as to how a relationship would work. I was amazed at how quickly their relationship advanced. I don’t think enough was mentioned about Nova’s past to help the book progress the way it did.
I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review
A wonderful well written and very entertaining story. This amazing storyline follows the journey of two people who have an immediate connection and great chemistry. Their journey has twists and obstacles of two people who find it hard to trust and love on their way to a HEA. I voluntarily reviewed this ARC.
Beautifully written storyline with characters that were so well rounded that as I turned each and every page I felt like Nova and Colt jumped from the pages and pulled me right into their story as it effortlessly unfolded!
A good mountain man romance
Nova, a romance writer, meets Colt, a small town retreat owner, when she arrives for her working vacation in one of his cabins. As the story progresses inspiration strikes, fantasy and reality blur, and failing to distinguish between the two could derail their burgeoning relationship. Kelli Walker did a good job telling this story. The only thing that I thought that could have taken place and made the story better was a more realistic antagonist interaction. That is my opinion and not a reflection of her overall writing style, more supporting character development related than anything else. I will definitely be reading more from her in the future
Audio book review:
Overall I liked this book, the audio performance okay.
If one is reading the book and the audio simultaneously there were several deviations (6 major and just over 90 minor) from the printed book, many of them did not detract from the overall story and would not be noticed otherwise; however, all of the major deviations were noticeable and drew me out of the narrative.
I received a free audio copy of the book from the author for a book I previously purchased. I had the opportunity to review or not.
This was a good read. It was kind of too short to develop a whole story. The characters were ok. If you are looking for a short, not so steamy romance, this book is for you.

A change of scenery is just what Nova hoped would get rid of her writer’s block. Colt was excited to have a new guest staying in one of his cabins during a slow time. What each one found is that despite a past that held heartbreak for both of them the instant attraction is something both are willing to hope will build into something more. The characters were well developed and while the read was short, it was satisfying. You should get this book.

Dealing with writer’s block, Nova decides time away from Las Vegas may help and plans for a vacation. Trying to decide on a location, she enlists the help of her best friend. Thinking nature and solitude might be just what she needs, Nova chooses to spend two weeks at a remote cabin in the midwest. Colt owns and operates a cabin retreat with his trustworthy blue heeler Bo when they meet their guest. Feeling instantly drawn to one another, Colt and Nova share a memorable couple of days together as the two can’t stand being apart from each. As love begins to blossom, the threat of another arises. Worthy!

Colt lives in a log cabin in Missouri and rents out parts of his wilderness retreat. When Nova comes to stay with him for a couple of weeks from Las Vegas, life for them both is about to turn around! Kelli Walker has written this story with a little of everything. We have opposites attract, as Colt and Nova come from completely different backgrounds. There is a stalkerish vibe creating some suspense and action as well as passion and self realization. I really enjoyed the story and getting to know Colt and Nova, and Colt’s dog Bo! He is a sweetie! With beautiful visual writing, Walker takes us through the cabin and surrounding area and makes the story come alive.
Daniel James Lewis does a good job narrating. I found him to be animated and have a lot of expression as he performed. The dual point of view let us know who was speaking, though at times, I found his female voice not as easy to distinguish. His pacing is perfect and he made the story a lot of fun with his style.
VERY INTRIGUING READ!!!
Talk about hitting the ground running. This is a very interesting and engaging tale that really captures your attention until the last word. All the twists and turns, ups and downs, along with a few glitches here and there make for one enjoyable adventure. You get a full range of emotions that covers the spectrum. You have one hard hitting, action packed, pulse racing, heart pounding, page turning dynamo that really draws you in. The characters and their personalities are so realistic and believable. The scenes are descriptive and detailed it really pulls this little treasure together beautifully. Kelli did an excellent job bringing this read to life. Fantastic job Kelli, thanks for sharing this awesome read with us.

Nova is a romance writer but living in Las Vegas she has a bad case of writer’s block. Taking her friend’s advice she books a cabin for a couple weeks and takes a break from the city for the country life. Colt owns and runs the cabins. He moved back home and bought the cabins when he ended a relationship. He was struggling to keep his business running and was excited when he got the two week booking. Sparks fly between them when they first meet. Colt offers to show her around town and they connect even more. Before long they are seeing each taking it day by day due to them living in different areas. However when a scorned woman tried to separate them will she succeed or will Colt prove that he is the true gentleman to Nova? Can they continue their relationship with her leaving soon?
This is a great story once I started it I couldn’t put it down. The chemistry between them is off the charts hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend it to any book lover.

Nova is a writer. She was getting no where on her book that is almost due. Nova’s friend Tina suggests that she go away to get her mojo back. Tina suggests for her to go to where is grew up which is rural Missouri. Nova checks it out and books her cabin. Colt was a super star when he was younger until an injury stopped all that. His cabin retreat and his dog Bo is all he has. Until Nova shows up. I enjoyed reading this book. I loved the storyline and plot. Nova has writer’s block and leaves Vegas to vacation in Missouri. She meets owner, Colt and they feel an instant connection, but they’ve both been hurt before and have trust issues to get past.
What a fantastic book by Kelli Walker!
Nova Kingsley is a writer who’s suffering writer’s block. When her friend suggested that she take a trip, Nova decides that it would be a great idea and leaves Las Vegas for the midwest. Colt McCormick left the city life to live in the woods in Missouri to start a new life when he meets Nova.
The chemistry between the two is sizzling hot, but one woman comes between the two who wants Colt for herself. I love the chemistry between the two, the story line is fantastic, plenty of twists and turns in the plot and great sexy scenes. A definite must read!
