She’s a single mom and knows she can only rely on herself. But the thought … the thought of a fling with Zack is a different matter—and far too tempting to resist.

Just okay. Entertaining and an easy read, but not memorable.
Not that good.
Similar elements to most adult romances with a surprise or two thrown in. Overall, a decent and quick “feel good” read.
the character became so single-minded concerning her abuse that she endangered her children’s lives so is that realistic
It’s wonderful to read about really good men.
Was ok
This book is a friends to lovers romance that got off to a cute start with good writing, charismatic characters and the possibility of a very entertaining relationship between childhood friends Zach and Laurel. Unfortunately, after an encounter with a disgruntled customer at work Laurel gets fired from her job, finds solace in alcohol and makes a pass at Zach before passing out cold in his bed. Half a dozen chapters later the storyline starts to wander a bit and though Zach is ready and willing to make a commitment to a future together Laurel has no intention of taking him up on the offer. With an unconventional and murky storyline and two conflicted characters it’s hard to see how this couple will ever resolve the differences between them. Ultimately this romance is more like the movie ‘The War Of The Roses” than the heartwarming and emotionally engaging relationship I hope to find in a great romance. I read an early copy of this book through NetGalley and all opinions expressed in my voluntary review are completely my own.
I am reviewing this book after receiving an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I was very impressed with the qualities of Zack’s character. He was a stand-up guy and was not afraid to let his feelings be known to Laurel and her brothers. Laurel on the other hand was really starting to tick me off. She went back and forth and messed with Zack’s heart. I was so frustrated with her indecisiveness that I almost didn’t finish the book.
I would love to see how the burglary might’ve tied into Laurel’s ex and the mess of criminals he was defending. I felt that the ending was rushed and could’ve been developed more.
