My new boss likes rules, but there’s one nobody dares to break…No touching his banana. Seriously. The guy is like a potassium addict. Of course, I touched it. If you want to get technical, I actually put it in my mouth. I chewed it up, too… I even swallowed.I know. Bad, bad, girl. Then I saw him, and believe it or not, choking on a guy’s banana does not make the best first impression. I should … the best first impression.
I should backtrack a little here. Before I ever touched a billionaire’s banana, I got my first real assignment as a business reporter. This wasn’t the same old bottom-of-the-barrel assignment I always got. I wasn’t going to interview a garbage man about his favorite routes or write a piece on how picking up dog poop from people’s yards is the next big thing.
Nope. None of the above, thank you very much.
This was my big break. My chance to prove I wasn’t a bumbling, clumsy, accident-prone walking disaster. I was infiltrating Galleon Enterprises to follow up on suspicions of corruption.
Cue the James Bond music.
I could do this. All I had to do was land the position as an intern and nail my interview with Bruce Chamberson.
Forget the fact that he looked like somebody carved him out of liquid female desire, then sprinkled on some “makes men question their sexuality” for good measure. I needed to make this work. No accidents. No disasters. No clumsiness. All I needed to do was hold it together for less than an hour.
Fast forward to the conference room before the interview, and that’s where you would find me with a banana in my hand. A banana that literally had his name on it in big, black sharpie. It was a few seconds later when he walked in and caught me yellow-handed. A few seconds after that was when he hired me.
Yeah. I know. It didn’t seem like a good sign to me, either.

I laughed out loud so many times reading this! Classic intern torments her boss tale with several unexpected twists. Bruce was so uptight that I wouldn’t have been able to resist messing with him a little either.
Very funny, lighthearted read. I love the quirky characters and the humor, but even more, I like the deeper threads that unfold as the story progresses.
A laugh out loud, sizzling romance. What could go wrong when you touch your boss’ banana?
I bought this book as an impulse buy. I got to say with a cover and title like that, I was intrigued. Oh my word this book was funny! I laughed so hard. And to think it all started with a banana in the mouth! 😉 Love it!
This book is not only funny, but it is hot! The characters can make or break and book and these two characters, I got to say they make this book. It was so much fun to read the banter between Bruce and Natasha. They truly had that love hate relationship down to a science.
Bruce tends to be a hard ass, but really underneath he is a heartbroken sweet heart. He has been hurt bad in the past and his past is still haunting him. So he now has the motto, never make the same mistake twice. So why date. Well he doesn’t, because that would be mistake #2.
Natasha has a pretty tough life. She is cute sweet, inexperienced and has no grace at all. But she is tough as nails. She is independent and a great writer. Except she is under appreciated in her job, always getting the bottom of the barrel assignments. So when the undercover reporter story is dropped in her lap, she is all over it. This is her chance to shine.
I have read several of Penelope’s books and I got to say this one was my favorite. Her writing style is amazing. She really knows how to create the perfect rom-com. She takes sweet and fun and mixes in a bit of dirty hotness. Add in a dominating alpha male and you got yourself one heck of a book. Her books always have interesting and fun characters, with very entertaining story lines. If you never read one of her books then I suggest you start now.
Excellent repartee between the main male and female characters. Also between the two brothers. This was a great read. I thoroughly enjoyed it and was not expecting much from the title, however, I went “bananas” for this tale. The main female character is whimsical. She is an unusual personality but is really pure of heart. The main male character is also very pure of heart but it remains hidden until the two main characters commence a relationship. She is really a hilarious character. Good story that is easily read.
I voluntarily received an advance review copy of this novel via Booksprout and I am leaving a honest and unbiased review. I have no affiliation with this author.
I really enjoyed this story. It made me chuckle so many times! I’m a bit worried about Charlie though, she didn’t seem too worried about the amount of time he was left on his own. I hope that William gets his own book!
This book is great! The characters are wonderful and the story has everything you could possibly want. Need to read.
I love that this book (honestly, the whole series) is FULL of double entendre and plenty of heat to back it up. It’s quirky and fun with a spiteful ex, a gun-shy man – who has an identical twin (YUM!), and a girl on the prowl for a story. Bruce and Natasha are perfect for each other. He’s a bit OCD with his perfectionism and perfectly ripe banana and she’s God’s gift to klutziness. It’s an entertaining rom-com.
It’s not all pretty: the spiteful ex has a daughter that she uses as a weapon to get money, his parents are also money-grubbers, there’s a man-child squatter (also known as Natasha’s brother), and things for the daughter take a turn.
So, I may not have read this one but I certainly enjoyed listening to it (thanks to my local library!). The narrators, CJ Bloom and Alexander Cendese, did a good job. I previously read the next book in this series but I will be giving it a listen, too, before long.
Story: 4-4.5 stars
Narration: 4 stars
I enjoyed this novel and look forward to diving into the next. The only issue I find is that this is categorized as a romcom. While I did find some parts making me smile or slightly giggle, I didn’t see the full on romcom aspect. For me to truly list something as such, I would need to be rolling and I think those reviews that state that they were, either have never read a true romcom or they are influenced by the title being labeled as such. It was a really good read though, fast and an expected HEA achievement. 4.5 stars
I loved the characters! It’s was sexy and steamy!
Loved it. Kept me interested the whole way through. Fell in love with the characters. Would def recommend.
Crass& stupid (didn’t finish)
Bruce And Natasha Are Hilarious! Their Banter Is Laugh Out Loud Funny. Some Errors Were Missed In Editing.
This is book one of the Objects of Attraction series. It is Bruce and Natasha’s story – a CEO and undercover journalist squabbling over his banana. It introduces Bruce’s twin William, whose story is told in book two, Her Cherry.
Natasha Flores, about twenty-five, is a chaos magnet. Her tiny New York City apartment is a mess, her emotional bulldog is prone to diahreah, she is months behind in paying her bills, and her refrigerator is practically empty. Compared to her thirty year old brother Braeden, a dreamer who still lives with their parents, she is a functional mess. She is also a good journalist – which is her dream job – but her self-sabotaging habit insures she always gets the worst assignments.
Natasha works freelance at Business Insights Magazine, whose meager offices reflect the state of print journalism. When her editor offers her the first serious assignment in her two years at the magazine, she eagerly accepts. All she needs to do is pose as an intern – land an internship at the prestigious Galleon Enterprises and gather dirt on the CEO. She is tasked to do whatever it takes to get the story.
Bruce Chamberson, probably thirty, uses self-discipline as a weapon. His success is built on it. His routine is like a religion. When he wakes up, his workouts, his meals – all are regimented. His obsessive-compulsive and perfectionist tendencies soothe him, giving him a sense of control. He had spent his life gradually building walls to insulate himself from disappointment, but his break up with Valerie two years ago was the last straw. The final wall went up, and since he never made the same mistake twice, he is done with women.
As CEO of Galleon Enterprises, the marketing agency he and his twin brother William founded, Bruce loves his job. He throws himself into it, finding satisfaction in success. William often came in late or skipped work, but he had great business instincts and the brothers worked well together. Hiring interns was William’s brilliant idea, and he had made a good case for it, but he failed to show up for the interviews.
After a morning of interviews, Bruce makes his routine trip to the break room for the highlight of his day – his banana. Everyone at Galleon knows not to mess with the boss’s banana, so when Bruce finds a pretty young woman with his banana, half-eaten, he is overcome with anger. He shocks himself as well as her when he insists on hiring her expressly to make her want to quit.
When Natasha lands the internship she can hardly believe her luck. But when she finds no sign of a juicy story, she is in a quandary as to what to do. She has learned to like Bruce, that there is more to him than his gruff exterior. She doesn’t want to walk away from a budding romance. But he has been hurt and deceived before and he will have a hard time accepting the truth once he hears it. Natasha needs to confess what brought her to Galleon, but struggles with finding a good time.
Bruce and Natasha are hilarious! Their banter is laugh out loud funny. Theirs is truely an example of opposites attracting. Bruce’s past weighs heavily on him, and somehow Natasha’s messy life becomes an outlet for him. They do have obstacles to work through. Braeden’s wisdom is unexpected and it is lovely to watch play out. The couple earns a lovely HEA!
There are some issues missed in editing. It is said that Natasha started three years ago, then later it becomes two years ago. Bruce is three months after a horrible breakup, then two years since Valerie (and there doesn’t seem to be a horrible break up since Valerie). Finally, Natasha’s eyes are twice referenced as hazel, then as brown. Although confusing, these don’t prevent enjoyment of the story.
Bruce and Natasha’s sweet and steamy story is a perfect light read for the weekend. It is nicely written, though there are some errors missed in editing. The plot is fairly simple. The characters are wonderfully defined and feel like real, albeit comical, people. It is written in first person. The POV alternates between Bruce and Natasha. I rate this book four stars.
Natasha was a free lance writer and was given the assignment to see if their was corruption at Bruce and his twin brother’s business. She applies to be an inter and Bruce hires her because she ate his banana- the one from the fridge with his name on it.
This is defiantly worth reading if you like romantic comedies with some steamy hot scenes. The characters are well crafted and interesting. They grab your attention and hold it. The book flows smoothly due to the great narrative and the totally amazing dialogue. The interaction and chemistry between the main characters is wonderful. The steamy scenes are woven expertly into the storyline, adding to it rather than subtracting from it. This is a book I will probably read more than once as I found the love story and humour such a great combination.
This book was a great romantic comedy and I would like to recommend this book to my friends as a good read when you need a laugh. Thanks
Light, sexy book.
A fun lighthearted book to read.
Fun read, lots of laughs. You will love it
Love this whole series, but this one was really funny. Great…it’s a keeper
