In this fast-paced thriller, special operative Nathan McBride battles the most treacherous enemy he’s ever faced—and the one hitting closest to home.
After simultaneous deadly terror attacks on San Diego and the nation’s capital, Nathan learns that the mass murders weren’t random events—they targeted his family.
And the threat is far from over. Part of a larger plot involving a sabotaged North … involving a sabotaged North Korean bioweapons facility and an ISIS training camp in northern Mexico, a third attack—bigger than 9/11—is being hatched by cold-blooded killers.
With the US Border Patrol and the CIA supporting the mission, Nathan teams up with longtime family friend Vincent Beaumont, the CEO of America’s largest private military contractor.
In a harrowing firefight, Nathan’s assault team will have to neutralize the terrorist cell, recover the weapons of mass destruction, and get them safely across the international border. The lives of thousands are at risk as Nathan weighs his lust for revenge against the most crucial part of the mission—taking the ringleaders alive—which might just cost him his life.

I love this series. Nathan McBride is more introspective as he and Harvey chase the bad guys. I always enjoy a good fire fight in a book.
good writer
A well written book, that is cleverly plotted with two exceptional characters. The words flow and carry you along for the ride. I love his style and have placed him on list of favoriates in this genre.
A current events interpretation.
This is the seventh book in the Nathan McBride story. Here our protagonist and his best friend Harvey Fontana fight a Mexican cartel that besides smuggling drugs and illegal immigrants is also involved in harboring and training ISIS fighters five miles from the U S border. Add to that revenge and some North Korean chemical weapons and you got our heroes up to their scarred necks in trouble.
The writing is close to perfect, the mix between hard action , self struggle about the question if there is a justified killing, without due process, is well balanced and the story line is very current and raises a lot of moral and ethical questions.
Highly recommend this series.
Incredibly well written, fast paced and action packed. Nathan needs to be a movie action hero.

The Nathan McBride series – 5
The McBride series just get’s better with each new story. Highly recommended
4.5 I had been missing my Nathan, Good to have him and Harv back. Fast paced, action, action, action. There are some moments of down time to catch your breath but they are few and far between. The scary part is some of the scenarios could really take place, and I sure hope we have our own Nathan and Harv to handle them. It definitely makes you stop and think. I had a moment of “NO NATHAN, DONT DO IT” (no spoilers), Thank you Andrew Peterson for tanking me outside my comfort zone and entertaining me! I am already for book 8 🙂 You can read it as a stand a lone, but I would highly recommend you read all books 1-7. Watch Nathan evolve.
Thank you Thomas and Mercer! Thank you NetGalley
A brilliantly spellbinding read. A heroic thriller filled with action. The internal struggle to do good that Nathan experiences is spine tingling. The brotherhood and friendship between him and Harv is strong and forged in fire and blood. This is a page turner that will keep you engrossed to the end.
