He needs someone to work with his son, she needs a job. They need to keep their hands to themselves.Welcome to Seattle, the Emerald City and home to The Single Dads of Seattle. Ten sexy single fathers who play poker every Saturday night, have each other’s backs, love their children without quarter, and hope to one day find love again. This is Mark’s story …Single Dad of Seattle Dr. Mark Herron … …
Single Dad of Seattle Dr. Mark Herron can’t believe anyone would celebrate their divorce. The dissolution of his marriage left him and his son with a huge hole to fill in their home–and their hearts. So when he overhears a lovely stranger and her friends celebrating the end of her marriage, he’s mystified–and then intrigued–by her determination to put the past behind her. But when he learns that Tori Jones needs a job, he knows this can’t be a coincidence.
Tori might be telling the world nothing’s got her down, but the truth is she’s hit rock bottom. Her husband didn’t just cheat on her, he took all her money, including her college fund, which means her marriage is over, and so is her dream to go to grad school and help children with special needs. So when a handsome stranger offers her a job caring for his special needs son, she knows she can’t turn it down–
Even if what she’s feeling for Mark is far from professional.
Now Mark’s finding it hard to keep his hands to himself and Tori’s struggling to keep her thoughts from straying to dangerous territory. Will they be able to keep their distance from each other or will being hired by the sexy single dad be Tori’s biggest problem of all?
**Note: This book can be read as a standalone. It includes lots of steamy scenes, cursing, and of course as with all my books, this has an HEA and no cliffhanger or cheating. If you like single dads who take charge, this book is for you.

A Wonderful Heartfelt Delight! Awesome Narration & Audible Listen
Hired by the Single Dad
The Single Dads of Seattle, Book 1
By: Whitley Cox
Narrated by: Allyson Voller, Zachary Johnson
Wow, what a great story, it grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it the entire book. This is my first book written by Whitley Cox, I enjoyed her writing style and the originality of the story, the characters and storylines she created are interesting and realistic. they are easy to relate to and connect with. I adored the lead characters, Dr. Tori Johns and Dr. Mark Herron with a shout out to his son Gabe, he is five and non-verbal on the autism spectrum. His mother left them both, she could not handle the challenge but Mark loves his son for who he is. Tori’s marriage fell apart, she and her ex husband Ken have filed for divorce. She had put her education on hold so he could finish Dental school, she also helped support him while he did. He did not just leave her when he was finished with school he left her broke. Mark happened to be out waiting for a friend when he heard a loud group of women celebrating and cheering someone up about her upcoming divorce. He felt compelled to go talk the the group and wound up chatting with Tori, finding out she worked with children on the autism spectrum and has a degree in child and youth care focussing on children with special needs with learning disabilities. His therapist for Gabe has left and he was in need of one, afraid she’d think he was hitting on her he just mentioned he knows of a job opening, that a friend needed a therapist for his son. Needing a new start and a job she decided to go for the job. I liked how he set up the job interview process, smart move on his part. Mark was a great with his son and so was Tori, I love how real the author kept it. I also loved how things played out between Mark and Tori, the chemistry between them was smoking hot and they found their way to each other, a smoking hot way. But things got complicated and the usually level headed Mark did something out of character and wound up hurting not only Tori but himself and his son too. This fast moving story is beautifully plotted with plenty of drama, heartfelt and emotional moments, some angst and hot romance. Whitley Cox, thank you for this wonderful story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
And for the wonderful narration, Zachary Johnson and Allyson Voller were perfectly casted to bring these characters and their story to life. They did an awesome job portraying the characters, humanizing them, giving each their own voice and personality. Zachary Johnson’s Mark was spot on, as was Allyson Voller’s Tori they each grasped each of their personas with perfection, sounding believable and just as I pictured the characters to sound. Both were awesome performing the roles of the secondary characters as well. You could hear how much heart they put into their work as they captured the characters emotions and projected them into their performance. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen
What a fantastic premise of a group of single dads supporting each other and this starts with the first Dr. Mark. I truly found this read (although I actually listened to it) to be a refreshing listen that had me actively listening and not giving it up until it was done. The book had some great sexy scenes and awesome feels and I loved how the characters are easy to relate to.
We read or listen to books to escape into another world. That is why I was hesitant to finish this book once I started because I also have an Autistic daughter who is 5. I am definitely glad I kept listening. The author had her facts correct but didn’t go too far into the spectrum of autism. The book begins with a Doctor Mark, who is a Divorced Dad whose son has autism. He is busy at the Hospital and is needing a Therapist for his son. Then he meets Tori, by chance, who just got separated and happens to need a job as a special needs therapist. I won’t ruin the rest but you definitely need to read/listen to this Steamy and Heart pumping story!! Allyson Voller and Zachary Johnson did a really good job bringing the characters to life. Their passionate roles were awesome to listen to!!! This is a great introduction to the series Single Dads of Seattle!!
This is a standalone book with a super sweet HEA. Whitley Cox is a new author for me. She has created a great new world in this new Single Dads of Seattle series. The characters are well-developed and interesting. The story line was unique and engaging. I especially love that Gabe, the child in this book, is autistic because it shows us a different side to parenting. I absolutely adored Gabe. Mark and Tori are so great together. I loved watching their connection grow. The angst between them was super steamy. This book will make you swoon, laugh and cry. This is a great start to this new series, and I look forward to listening to the books of the other 9 single dads! Thank you to Pink Flamingo for gifting me this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
Narrators Allyson Voller and Zachary Johnson were excellent! This is such a cute and fun story, and these 2 narrators definitely brought that to life. Their tones, pacing, timing, and vocal characterizations were spot on. I highly recommend the audiobook version of this book.

The Single Dads of Seattle #1
by Whitley Cox
Narrated by Zachary Johnson and Allyson Voller
Single dad stories are my kryptonite and this series is already pushing all the right buttons for me. The first book in the Single Dads of Seattle, we get to know Mark. He is father to the adorable Gabe who is on the spectrum and is need of one on one assistance. When he overhears Tori celebrating her divorce and currently looking for a job, he takes the opportunity to have her meet Gabe. At the same time, he gets his fill of his attraction to her. Problem is, their attraction could get in the way of her job. Will it be the issue he anticipates? Oh my heart, each time Gabe was in a scene. He may not talk, but he definitely steals the show! Mark is very swoony, but he has some issues he needs to deal with, as does Tori. They are perfect together! I can’t wait for the next one in this series! Genius to base it around the poker table. Love it!
The narration of the book is spot on! A better casting could not have been made. Zachary Johnson has a fantastic voice, and he channeled into Mark. Each nuance let us know exactly how this single dad was feeling. Allyson Voller is a favorite of mine, and her voicing of Tori held just the right mixture of confidence and vulnerability. They enhanced the story with their amazing story telling.
Hired by the Single Dad is the first book in the Seattle Series and my first book by this author!
If you are looking for a sweet, sexy, emotional romance look no further. This book is filled with instant connection, family values, supportive funny friends, a woman that is lovely inside and out, a beautiful little man with special needs and a dad that is ready to give him the world.
A chance meeting in a bar while Tori is out with her friends commiserating her divorce and a single dad looking for a teacher for his son . This is the beginning of a beautiful relationship that soon turns into so much more but they have so many hurdles to cross and sometimes life gets in the way. Great start to this series of single dads ! 4.5 stars !!!!

What’s better than a sexy, single dad with an absolutely adorable kid? A sexy, divorcee dad who devotes all of his time to make sure his neurotypical son is living the best life possible. This book takes the swoony single dad trope to the next level! It’s jammed packed with so many cute family moments between Tori, Mark, and little Gabe. It will completely melt your heart and make your ovaries ache! The bond between these characters is so freaking sweet!
Mark is a single dad looking for someone to help care for his special needs son, Gabe. Like fate, he meets Tori as she’s celebrating her separation from her super awful, jerk of a husband. And with her past experience with special needs children, she is absolutely perfect for the job. And when I say perfect, I absolutely mean it! From the beginning, Tori connected with Gabe and she will completely steal your heart as she cares for and loves this little boy. I was a sucker for the moments between Gabe and Mark, but the bond between Tori and Gabe completely floored me. And every single time Mark witnessed a moment between Tori and Gabe he would fall a little bit more for her. The same went for Tori with Gabe and Mark. This sweet little boy brought together two amazing people who absolutely love him. And when they realize that they care just as much about each other, you will swoon!
This is the first book in the Single Dads of Seattle Series and a great kickoff to the series! In this book, we get our first glimpse into the dads club and it’s such a dynamic group of men. I was absolutely relieved to see that it wasn’t a group of he-man woman-haters, but a group of men who have experienced a lost relationship in one way or another all coming together to support each other in whatever way possible. They are all so different and I am excited to see each one of them find love again.
Hired by a Single Dad is very eye-opening to the neurotypical world and I am super grateful for that. It shows you what so many children experience and how amazing some parents truly are for making strides to understand and provide for their children. The unconditional love that is within the pages of this book is amazing. Whitley Cox has won me over with this book and I can’t wait for Dancing with a Single Dad!
I really enjoyed this book. The author really did her homework on ASD. Having two children on the spectrum I was able to identify with Mark. He was a great character and Tori was amazing with Gabe. I was completely blown away by the realness of the characters and story. Looking forward to reading about the rest of the single dads of Seattle.
Hired by the Single Dad is the first book in the Single Dads of Seattle series. It was a well written introduction, to not only the couple Mark and Tori, but to the Single Dads club as well. Mark is a doctor and Tori works an Intervention Specialist with children on the spectrum. Mark just so happens to have a son that is on the spectrum of Autism.
We get our first glimpse at our couple, Mark and Tori, at a club where Tori is celebrating her impending divorce. Although, Tori is much more subdued about the celebration than her friends. Mark, who has gone through a pretty rough divorce himself, overhears the celebration and decides to join the ladies and buy them a round of drinks. Mark and Tori start a conversation and during this he finds out what she does for a living. He says that he knows someone that is looking for help with their son who is on the spectrum, without telling her it is him.
I don’t want to spoil the story, so I won’t go into the plot much further. This book takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions. Not only is there the intense attraction of Mark and Tori, but a beautiful love story between Tori and Mark’s son Gabe. As well, you get a glimpse into the Single Dads who have poker night every Saturday and give very sage advice to one another.
You will laugh, you will cry, you will be mad as hell, and you will fall in love. Whitley gives all the feels in this story. I highly recommend this to anyone that is looking for a new series to read.
I voluntarily reviewed and advanced reader copy of this book.
What a wonderful introduction to The Single Dads Club series. I really liked how this book gives us the romance between Mark and Tori but especially how it focuses a lot on Mark’s son Gabe who has autism. Ms. Cox gives us a real insight into the daily struggles from not just the child’s POV but also what the parents deal with in helping that child adapt to the world around them and also a society that does not understand them. So very well done!!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Hired by the Single Dad (The Single Dads of Seattle Book 1) by Whitley Cox is a wonderful story to read. This is book number one in this wonderful series writen by a brand new series writen by a brand new author for me to read. I highly recommend this sotry to all.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
Whitley Cox is a new-to-me author, and I just happened to stumble across this series, seeing as I’m a big fan of single parent books. I must say, I was very happily surprised as how much I enjoyed Hired by the Single Dad. The characters were very likeable, and the story was well-written; the author did a very good job of portraying a child with autism.
I look forward to more books in this series, and more from the Single Dads of Seattle!
Wow, Wow, Wow! I have been exploring new authors and Whitley Cox is a new favorite of mine.
I loved this book so much!!
Mark and Tori were too perfect together, and Gabe is precious. I love when authors shine some light on special needs cases. They are near and dear to my heart. They way Gabe and Tori bond is my favorite part of this story.
The single dads club is a unique series that I am really looking forward to reading. Too often do we see men in bad light of being parents, I loved that this is just the opposite.
Drama, intrigue, romance and suspense all rolled into one pretty package.
A fantastic read!
I really enjoyed this book. As mother of two autistic children I thought that the writer nailed what it could be like looking after a child on the spectrum daily. I loved the main characters and their relationship. I am interested in seeing how the rest of the series progresses with the remaining single dads.
When Mark overhears a group of women celebrating one of their divorces, he’s really intrigued. And when he sees the woman who’s divorced, he’s even more intrigued. Alas, the night ends with him offering her a job, one she desperately needs, and one he desperately needs her to take – as nanny to his on the spectrum son. But, their attraction soon leads to more than just a professional relationship, one that seems to be going along great until one mistake on Tori’s part leads to Mark reacting in a really unacceptable way. Can Mark convince her to forgive him or is she doomed to being let down by yet another man?
I liked 3/4 of this story, right up until the point where Mark turned into a raging asshole. After that, I was done with him because as far as I am concerned, nothing he could have done or said would have been enough for her to forgive him and give him a second chance. But, luckily for him, Tori was in love with him and had a soft heart. So 4 stars because up to that point, the story was sweet, steamy and engaging, but a star off because Mark turned into an unforgivable douchenozzle.

Mark is a Doctor and a single dad to Gabe who is five & a child on the spectrum with Autism. The story starts out in a bar where he overhears a group of ladies celebrating a breakup & that catches his attention. The lady they are all toasting & celebrating her breakup doesn’t look thrilled to be celebrating this event at all! He goes to the bar and comes back to let the group know he is paying for their tab for the rest of the night. Eventually he is able to have a conversation with this pretty lady named Tori and soon discovers she is a special needs therapist and exactly who he has been looking for. He tells her about a college that has a special needs child and asked if she might be interested and they exchange numbers all the while he doesn’t tell her the job he knows about is for him and his son which puts them starting out on that wrong foot. Tori meets Gabe, Mark’s son and falls instantly in love with this precious boy. As the story builds so does the attraction between Mark & Tori until the explosion happens and, in this story, can two people who have been so hurt in the past learn to trust and love again?
You fall in love with both Mark & Tori’s story but you truly fall in love with Mark’s son Gabe and learn so much about children on the spectrum and the daily struggle they have with the ordinary things you & I never give second thought to doing & how parents feel trying to do the very best for their special needs child.
This story grabs you on the first page and keeps pulling you in until you are totally and completely engaged until the very last page. I loved the first installment in The Single Dads of Seattle, I loved Tori and Mark’s story, & I loved the HEA at the end. I also loved meeting all the guys in the Single Dads of Seattle series in this first book, they are fun, interesting, and I cannot wait to read all their stories. I have become a huge fan of Whitley Cox and cannot wait to read this entire series!
This book was gripping, well written & the chemistry between the characters, Mark & Tori, sizzled throughout this wonderful read.
Well done Whitley. I look forward to more!
Welcome to Whitley Cox’ new world – The Single Dads of Seattle. Cox introduces to her new series with Hired by the Single Dad, and what’s not to love about sexy single dads trying to navigate today’s world.
Liam Dixon, divorce lawyer extraordinaire, created The Single Dads of Seattle as way for strong, professional Alpha dads to support each other after their divorce. A support group that started with Saturday night poker games, where these single dads could have a safe place to share, and vent, the challenges that come with being a single parent.
The aftermath of his divorce left Dr. Mark Herron, and his special needs son, destroyed. He can’t believe anyone would celebrate such a catastrophic event. So when he meets Tori “celebrating” her divorce, he’s intrigued, especially when he learns she’s looking for a job that’s exactly what he needs for his son Gabe.
Tori is just trying to hold it together and pick up the pieces. She doesn’t want to celebrate her divorce, she just wants to survive it.
Cox addresses some very heavy topics that not many authors, let alone romance, want to tackle. We see a lot of single moms, but what about fathers left to manage the destruction after the end of marriage. In this case, Mark isn’t to blame, his wife walked out because she couldn’t, or wouldn’t, deal with a special needs child.
I loved Mark and Tori, and the path they travel in this story. There’s heartache, but ultimately it’s a story of hope and overcoming, not just life, but learning to adjust to life when it changes.
I’m already half in love with all the Single Dads of Seattle and I can’t wait to see what else Cox has in store in this series
I really enjoyed this charming story. The characters were well written and had depth and chemistry. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Fate
This was a heartwarming story of two (Mark and Tori) people who have been burned and devastated by betrayal and divorce. A chance encounters changes both their lives and the life of his son as well.
The author made the characters warm and engaging and showcased a situation that many parents deal with in their own lives. There is heat , chemistry, angst and heartwarming moments.
