Investigator Kendra Michaels — once blind and known for her sharp skills — puts her life on the line to catch a killer in this electrifying novel from the #1 NYT bestselling and Edgar Award-winning duo. Dr. Kendra Michaels, blind for the first twenty years of her life before gaining her sight via a revolutionary surgical procedure, is a renowned investigator known for her razor-sharp senses … procedure, is a renowned investigator known for her razor-sharp senses — honed during her years in the dark — and keen deductive abilities.
Now her skills are needed uncomfortably close to home. Two staff members have been murdered at a school for the blind where Kendra spent her formative years. But the murders are puzzlingly dissimilar: one victim was brutally stabbed, while the other was killed by a bullet to the head. Are the crimes related? Or is Kendra on the hunt for more than one dangerous killer?
With the killer (or killers) still on the loose, Kendra must put her life on the line to unravel a terrifying conspiracy. But Kendra soon discovers that she herself may hold the key to the deadliest secret of all.
Another fabulous thriller from mother and son team Iris johansen and Roy Johansen! I love the Kendra Michael’s series! This was another awesome rollercoaster ride with mega suspense and plenty of heart stopping action! Once again Kendra and lynch and the gang are on a case looking for the killer or killers who have murdered two people from Woodward Academy for the physically disabled where Kendra and her best friend Olivia went as children.
I love that Kendra and lynch are paired up again! This is one of my fave couples of Johansen’s! Kendra is smart and simply amazing and I’ve loved her since she was introduced and lynch is a fabulous anti hero. He’s not only clever but very sexy and I love that walking the edge kind of vibe with him! He’s not a knight in armor kind of guy he’s all warrior and the type that would bring the world to its knees for you! Their was also a nice addition of a special needs dog named Harley who was a great animal character and who belonged to one of the victims. As always the villains were cunning and deadly but when you have a team like Kendra and the gang its only a matter of time before they solve the case and bring them down.
Until next time Luv’s
I won a copy of this book from Goodreads Giveaways, I was not required to give a favorable review. If you have ever read any of Iris’s book you find that they draw you in with each of the characters in the story. Kendra was once a blind student at Woodward Academy for the blind. But she as lucky enough to get her eyesight due to a special surgery but she still goes back and gives lectures and care deeply about her teachers and the students. When he is thrown out of Afgahanistan she comes back to find that a teacher and a beloved groundskeeper had been killed at the academy. She works with the FBI and Lynch and her really good friend Olivia who is also a former student to find out who did the killings and the catch the bad guys. Jessie is also a help with this case. But with all the twist and turns you want to find the bad guys and get rid of them. Thank you for another wonderful story.
In HINDSIGHT by Iris Johansen and Roy Johansen, Kendra Michaels, blind for most of her life, taught herself to develop her other senses more fully. After her vision was surgically restored, she had incredible skills and the FBI uses her like a secret weapon.
I have missed reading tales of the exploits of Kendra Michaels! Being blind for most of her life taught her to depend more heavily on her other senses; following a revolutionary surgery her vision was restored. She has ninja-like skills and the FBI utilizes her superpowers!
A very solid Kendra Michaels thriller.
Always love Kendra Michaels, she is such a rich, complex character. And so strong! Lynch is always an interesting addition, as he really knows how to get under Kendra’s skin. Olivia, as always, amazing and brilliant and lovely. Harley was a wonderful new character ABC’s I love him with every fiber of my soul. All that being said, during action scenes, the writing is starting to feel a little jerky, with incomplete sentences and thoughts and feelings and sounds. I get what the author is trying to do but it wasn’t as seamless as it usually is. The ending also felt a bit rushed, I didn’t think it was over because it happened so quickly.
Great mystery and loved Kendra Michaels. Just wish this romance would resolve with Adam Lynch. It takes away from the mystery.
Two staff members have been murdered at a school for the blind, where Kendra spent many of her younger years until she received a surgical procedure to restore her sight. She is a well known investigator who has honed all her senses and sharp deductive abilities.
The two victims have no connection other than place of employment and one is stabbed and the other took a bullet to the head. Two killers?
As Kendra throws herself wholeheartedly into the investigation, she unwittingly discovers that she, herself, holds the key to a deadly secret that could make her the target of a killer.
This is a real page turner, suspense starting at the very beginning and holding it’s pace until the very unpredictable ending. Although 7th in the series, this is easily read as a stand alone. As always, I recommend starting with the very first book as the recurring characters are memorable.
Many thanks to the author / Grand Central Publishing / Netgalley for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
It’s been awhile since I’ve read a Kendra Michaels book, but it’s like riding a bike – it all floods back. Especially the romantic angst between Michaels and Lynch. Oh, how I missed fiery Michaels, her quick wit, and her one of a kind observatory prowess. Indeed this book was full of adventure, as always, and I was on the edge of my seat at times. I loved all of the different nuances with the dog, friends, and places. Another amazing book by the Johansens. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next.
The things that Kendra sees, a gift that was returned after having been blind for most of her early life. She picks up on things overlooked by the average person are astounding and that’s how she manages to nail the bad guys every time! Her hot/cold relationship with Adam Lynch is intriguing and you just know they are avoiding the eventual romantic relationship, or are they? They have a super-sparks kind of interaction that tantalizes readers! Lots of plot twists and Kendra putting herself in dangerous situations. A most enjoyable read! I have enjoyed each and every book in this series!
I love the Eve Duncan series and so far all of the spin off characters. As usual all the Iris Johansen books make it hard to put down as you want to find out the ending.
Another action packed Kendra Michaels novel. I love the characters. The chemistry between Kendra and Adam is great. The mystery kept me turning the pages to see who done it and why. Kept these stories coming….
I enjoyed reading this book
I love the Kendra Michaels character! She was blind for most of her life so she developed her other senses and now that she can see, she has become invaluable to the FBI and kicks butt! All of Iris Johansen’s stories are so good and she keeps coming up with ways to keep her main characters fresh and always growing!
Kendra Michaels at her best! A great fast paced, on the edge of your seat read. The tension between Kendra and Lynch, along with the storyline make this another 5+* read from iris and Roy Johansen. I look forward to more great reads from both!
Dr. Kendra Michaels is amazing. Growing up blind and then having an amazing surgery that gave her eyesight to now being an investigator that uses her honed senses to solve difficult mysteries. What I notice most is her commitment to those important to her. She uses her abilities to protect her friends before anything else. She has always been a good friend to those around her but even more so when she realizes all that she can do to keep those she loves safe.
Hindsight is a book that I looked forward to reading. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on a copy and devour each word. The Johansen authors are so incredibly talented and I know that when I start one of their books I will be pulled in and not able to stop reading their amazing book. The story is fast-paced, easy to follow, and has many twists and turns that will keep you guessing as you turn page after page after page.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of Hindsight by Iris Johansen and Roy Johansen that I read and reviewed on my own.
This book found Kendra and Lynch trying to solve two murders that took place at the school where she went when she was blind so needless to say this was personal for Kendra because she cared about the people who were killed and she wanted those killers badly. Like most of the Kendra Elliot book she fought the interference from Lynch until she realized how badly she needed him and then the sparks started flying off the pages between them in every way you can think of. These are two of my favorite couples that just need need to face things and be together all the time they are that hot together and I really want to see it soon.
This book was really well written. It even had a special needs assistant dog named Harley that played a very huge part in the story and that was fun to read because with Kendra’s blindness being fixed and her best friend , Olivia, who is blind but very independent no one in these books every seems to need much help so it was fun having a dog in the mix this time. Also, trying to figure out why the two people who were killed was targeted was twist that made this book great.
Hindsight gets five out of five stars from me.
