Ever feel like your entire world has been turned on its head? That’s how I’ve felt ever since the gang and I found out that Nan has been keeping major family secrets stashed neatly away in the attic. What’s worse, we still don’t know exactly what happened, and I have so many follow-up questions, like is she still the same woman I always assumed she was? And can I ever fully trust her again? With … again?
With Nan unable to give me a straight answer, I invite my parents to join me for a cross-country train trip so that we can all discover the truth, once and for all.
Octo-Cat hitches a ride with us, too, and it’s a good thing he does, because it isn’t long before a dead body joins us in the dining car. Now we have two mysteries to solve, and fast—our lives and legacy depend on it.

Trains, kitties, and lots of wackiness. What more could you ask for? Throw in a murder to solve and this is one entertaining cozy mystery in a great series!
Book 8. Angie has new found family in Ga. That means train trip for Angie and Octo-cat to visit the family and of course a murder is on board. Traveling with her mom and dad might just be the murder, NAW. Octo-Cat has a crush. I love all these books. I like how easy and fun they are. The cat is funny and how Angie deals with his just makes it all so great. I hope this series goes on for a good while. I think Molly is a fantastic writer.
This is a super fun cozy mystery! Really liked it! Clever and witty..
I have been provided with a copy of Himalayan Hazard by the author for an impartial review. This is the eighth book in the brand-new Pet Whisperer P.I. series. I just absolutely loved getting to go back into this wonderful world with it’s amazing characters. I just had so much fun reading this story and I just didn’t want it to end and I was sad to turn the last page. I can’t wait to see what’s next from this author.
I really like the new cat and hope we see her again.
Totally enjoyable and fun read! Perfect stories for lovers of dogs and cats!
I just finished reading Pet Whisperer P.I. Books 7-9 Special Boxed Edition by Molly Fitz. I have been reading this entire series so afar and have enjoyed each mystery story. These are fun and fast reads. The stories feature a young para legal assistant turned private investigator. After an electrical zap at work, our heroine, Angie, discovers she can talk to a cat named Octavious (Octo-Cat for short). Here the adventures begin. This box set includes books 7 thru 9 of the series:
Raccoon Racketeer (Pet Whisperer P.I. Book 7) featuring a thieving raccoon
Himalayan Hazard (Pet Whisperer P.I. Book 8) featuring a Himalayan show cat, a murder, and Octo-Cat’s first love
Hoppy Holiday Homicide (Pet Whisperer P.I. Book 9) featuring a bunny and double murder at a Winter Festival
These are light heated mysteries with plenty of plot twists. However the animals steal the show. What I like best is that the author captures the real essence of dog and cat personalities, as well as a few other animals like raccoons, bunnies, and squirrels. The animal’s words and actions are so typical. The stories are rounded out by a cast of human characters who add to the fun. I cannot wait to read more books in this series. Loads of fun and happy reading.
This was an entertaining story. Angie and Octo-Cat are mixed up in another mystery. This time they’re on a cross-country train ride with Angie’s parents. Octo-Cat meets a Himalayan cat and falls in love, while Angie tries to focus on solving the crime. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books in this series as well as other books by this author.
If you like cats, you’ll like this silly series.
ANGie, Octo-Cat and her parents are traveling to Georgia by train to meet their new family. Nan has kept a very important secret from her past but now Angie needs to meet them. But trouble isn’t far away from Angie and October-Cat and they get involved in a murder investigation. Will they be in danger while trying to find the murder?
Love this series! Wish Octocat was more lovable though.
I love cat-charactered mysteries. This one has a strong plot and was not too cutesy. Bravo!
In Himalayan Hazard, Angie, her parents and Octo-Cat board a train and head toward Georgia to meet long lost family. Of course, a murder happens that night on the train. Octo-Cat falls in love. He and his love are instrumental in finding the murderer. Don’t miss this latest Pet Whisperer P.I. book.
Angie is on a train along with her parents and Octo-Cat to go meet family she never knew she had. While in the dining car, she and Octo-Cat meet a woman with a beautiful Himalayan cat with whom Octo falls in love. They spend some time together then later hear a horrible screaming that turns out to be the Himalayan as she discovered her person had been murdered. Angie and Octo are on the case and immediately notice a necklace the woman was wearing in missing.
This was a cute and fast read. I’m loving getting to know Angie and Octo-Cat more with each book. I highly recommend both book and series which I suggest you read in order.
I have read the other books in this series but I have to say I think this one is my favourite so far. It was a real murder mystery that the pair had to sink there teeth into. Octo-cat is such a great character that it was fun that he played a bigger part in this outing. The story wasn’t very long and I think the author could have had more suspects but I enjoyed what did happen. The book continues where the last book left of but you don’t need to have read the previous books as each book is a stand alone but I think reading them in order adds to the enjoyment, so I would.
Angie is going to meet the family she never knew she had but she is taking Octo-cat with her, so is taking the train. Other than forgetting to recharge her phone the journey starts out fine, Octo-cat even finds himself a girlfriend. That is until Angie is woken up by screaming. Someone has murdered the mistress of Octo-cat’s new girlfriend. But worse is to come when the train breaks down in a tunnel and the lights go out. Being on board a train is scary but being on board with a killer is even worse. It’s a good job Angie and Octo-cat are the detectives from the pet whisper P.I agency. Just don’t tell anyone they haven’t been hired to solve a case yet.
Almost a pass. Liked the series in the beginning more than I do now. This story has Octo-Cat almost getting a girlfriend who is almost as spoiled as he is, although Grizabella did help with catching the bad person, who strange enough didn’t say much after being caught. I felt for Sariah, sad on her part. The best part of the story was meetin Mags and look forward to her and her story.
Story line has lost a lot of keeping my attention, so much on Angie, too much lately and I was shocked how much Nan was left out of this book, that made me sad, but hope to learn more about her background that has been uncovered.
Himalayan Hazard by Molly Fitz is the eighth Pet Whisperer PI novel. Angie Russo along with her parents and Octo-Cat, of course, are off to Larkhaven, Georgia to meet their newly discovered family. Nan had been keeping a major secret that came to light when Pringle stole some items that she had hidden in the attic. Octo-Cat refuses to board a plane and he dislikes long car trips, so that leaves them taking the train to Georgia. In the dining car, Angie meets fellow cat lover, Rhonda Lou Ella Smith and her cat Grizabella, a snooty Himalayan. Octo-Cat is instantly smitten with Grizabella and sets out to woo her. While catching a catnap, a cat scream awakens Angie and Octo-Cat. It is Grizabella who came out of the little kitten’s room to find her mistress dead. The train stops inside a long tunnel and the lights go out. Angie, with help from her eager mother as well Octo-Cat and Grizabella, sets out to catch a killer before he strikes again. Himalayan Hazard was a humorous story. I could not help but laugh at Octo-Cat falling in love. I like the author’s conversational writing style. It makes the story easy to read and it moves along at a swift pace. Himalayan Hazard can stand on its own if you have not read the other seven Pet Whisperer PI novels. Angie and Octo-Cat are established characters that continue to evolve. I did miss Nan who is such a lively character. Grizabella was a great addition and added another dimension to the story. I was, though, disappointed with how Grizabella’s tale played out. Himalayan Hazard is an amusing cozy mystery with train travel, canoodling cats, a nicked necklace and a jarring journey.
“My own family had a twisted backstory, one Mom and I had only recently discovered and still didn’t quite understand. But I would never in a million years hurt someone for answers—or for revenge.”
In this, Book 8 of the “Pet Whisperer PI” series, Angie and Octo-Cat are dealing with yet another murder, and it’s up to them to find the killer without ,literally, letting the cat out the bag. Add a crabby Himalayan cat and her human and one might wonder if the universe wasn’t challenging Angie to use all her sense, including her pet whispering abilities, to understand other human interaction, including her family’s.
In a story plucked straight out of film noir, Molly Fitz expands the Octo-cat world and he and Angie work together with Grizzabella to solve her mistress’ murder without strangling the new “client” in the process! I just love these books. 5/5
[disclaimer: I received this book from the author and voluntarily reviewed it]
Angie Russo, her mom and dad, and Octavius her cat took the train to Georgia to meet their extended family. The trip is disrupted when a murder occurs.
Well, Agatha Christie this ain’t. Talk about contaminating a crime scene! I think I’m following the series now more out of habit than anything else, but I still love the initial idea and Octavius. And Nan, who is almost completely absent from this book. I also keep wondering why Paisley, Nan’s Chihuahua, calls Angie “Mommy”. Even I, a cat lover, knows about where a dog’s loyalty lies, and “Mommy” is Nan.
I wish Molly Fitz would focus more on the strong points (Octavius and Nan) and less on Angie. Let’s be realistic: Angie is the least competent of anyone in their team at investigating; she might be the “heroine” but she’s not terribly interesting while Nan, Octavius – and all the animals – are. As the series progresses, the novellas seem to be more hastily put together, and shorter. There aren’t many typos, but some really stand out: “to fine my charger” and “Why musts humans…”. Ugh. And what about “violent killer” and “violent murderer”… who’s a “violent criminal”. Sigh.
All was not lost, however: I learned how fast a domestic cat can run, and I loved, loved, loved Grizabella – the Himalayan of the title. Alas, I was a bit disappointed with the ending. Oh and about the family issues from the past installment? Don’t hold your breath, it’s barely touched upon HIMALAYAN HAZARD is not a bad book, but it’s not that great either.
These mysteries just keep getting better and better with each new book and I enjoy reading just what shenanigans Octo-Cat gets into each time. Discovering hidden secrets from family lead to a train trip, a death to solve enroute and learning the truth at the end. Molly Fitz is an awesome and talented writer who knows how to keep her readers entertained and coming back for more.
I thought the last book was the best but this one is even better. I love that Octo-cat has found love & is becoming nicer & nicer. Seems unbelieveable that he is changing so much. But it’s so cute. I love this series. Don’t know how Ms. Fitz comes up with something new each book & there are lots more books to come. Well done!!!!! I received an ARC. This is my honest, voluntary review.
