They don’t play for the same team. Or do they?
Jamie Canning has never been able to figure out how he lost his closest friend. Four years ago, his tattooed, wise-cracking, rule-breaking roommate cut him off without an explanation. So what if things got a little weird on the last night of hockey camp the summer they were eighteen? It was just a little drunken foolishness. Nobody died.
Ryan … died.
Ryan Wesley’s biggest regret is coaxing his very straight friend into a bet that pushed the boundaries of their relationship. Now, with their college teams set to face off at the national championship, he’ll finally get a chance to apologize. But all it takes is one look at his longtime crush, and the ache is stronger than ever.
Jamie has waited a long time for answers, but walks away with only more questions—can one night of sex ruin a friendship? If not, how about six more weeks of it? When Wesley turns up to coach alongside Jamie for one more hot summer at camp, Jamie has a few things to discover about his old friend…and a big one to learn about himself.
Warning: contains sexual situations, hotties on hockey skates, skinnydipping, shenanigans in an SUV and proof that coming out to your family on social media is a dicey proposition.

One of my favorite couples of all times! Jamie and Wes are LOVELY! Romantic, cute, fun, and the list goes on.
The kind of book that makes you smile, warms your heart and wraps you in the sweetest love.
Jamie’s family is amazing. Wes and his friends from the team are the best! And the kids from the camp. The characters, the setting, the writing style, this book is simply wonderful.

Audio Review from July 2019
This was my first deep dive into a M/M world and I loved it!!
This story is written so well!!
And the fracking narrators are gold star and did a great job!!!!
Teddy Hamilton and Jacob Morgan
Thanks to all the ladies at TPAM for suggesting this book for me!! Especially thanks to Radd, who really convinced me to give this book a shot.
“My weakness is him.”
Wes and Jamie have been friends for over 9 years, meeting at hockey camp when they were 13 years old, they both loved the game and formed a friendship with that. They never saw each other except for 6 weeks out of the summer but remained in contact by sending packages back and forth to one another. During their last year at camp Wes starting developing feelings for Jamie and one small bet set the course of their friendship over the next 4 years. Both guys now in college are set to go to a hockey championship where it is very possible, they will run into each other. Of course, they do and as their friendship slowly starts to come back to them, they end up back at the same summer camp they met at years before, but this time they are coaches. Wes had always had feelings for Jamie, but he just wants his friend back and Jamie is confronted with the very real possibility that he might have feelings for his long-lost best friend.
“Our mouths fit together so perfectly. Every time we kiss, I fall even more in love with him, and it has nothing to do with sex or lust. It’s him. His closeness and his scent and the way he soothes me.”
Serena Bowen and Elle Kennedy created such a beautiful and, in my mind, true story. One of my favorites parts about this book was we really got to see Jamie’s struggle with his identity. It wasn’t a particularly hard or long struggle, but it was there. They didn’t skate over the fact that this was all new to him and while it was beautiful it was still scary as hell being in a new relationship with someone of the same sex, even someone like your best friend. So, bravo ladies!! Wes was perfect to me yes, he made not one, but two dick moves but that is life. People make mistakes and they learn from them, and sometimes it takes that person you love more than anything to be the bigger person and get you to see what is right in front of you no matter how scary it is. Honestly, I could rave about this book for days because it was that good. I am still undecided on book two Us because now I want to live in my beautiful bubble of Jamie and Wes and them living their perfect life.
Okay. So, a friend told me to listen to this book ages ago. She said it’s her favorite audiobook. I kept putting it off. Audiobooks aren’t my jam, and I wasn’t sure how into a male male relationship I’d get (not that there’s anything wrong with that!). I’m just talking about my reading time here. Well, I finally listened.
First, I LOVE this story. I listened to the whole series back to back. I want Jamie and Ryan to be my friends. I want to live in their building and I want to hammer on their door along with Blake and ask about ordering food in. I want to go to hockey matches and cheer them on. I LOVE these two men. Their love story is unforgettable. And holey heck it’s mercury level hot!
Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy knocked it out of the ballpark…or the puck out of the rink…. with this series. This book does have an HEA, but Us follows and it’s equally fantastic! As is Epic. I listened to Epic TWICE!
The narrators – Teddy Hamilton and Jacob Morgan – Oh my word. I could listen to either one of them all day long….both is just sinfully orgasmic.
I’m probably writing this review under ebook – and I’m sure the ebook is divine – but I LOVED the audiobook and strongly recommend it.
I am obsessed with this book! If you need a cute heartwarming read definitely add this one to your list! Wesmie is my new favorite ship.
This book follows Wes and Jamie who went to hockey camp when they were younger. They were roommates and best friends until one night when Wes (who is secretly gay and has a massive crush on Jamie) coaxes Jamie (who is straight) into a bet that leads to some very unstraight activity. Wes is so embarrassed that he stops talking to Jamie without telling him why.
Years later Wes and Jamie are seniors in college and play against each other in the hockey finals. This re-sparks Wes’s love for Jamie and he decides to show up at the same hockey camp that they used to room together at to be a coach alongside Jamie. They now only have the summer before they leave for training camp to be professional hockey players. Jamie discovers why Wes stopped talking to him all those years ago and he discovers some new things about himself too.
I loved Wes and Jamie’s relationship both as friends and then as more. Seeing them rebuild and get even closer than before throughout the summer is so heartwarming. I think their relationship works so well together and is so strong is because they already had an amazing friendship built up. Wes is such a confident person when it comes to hockey but seeing his vulnerability when it comes to Jamie was so sweet you could tell so easily that he truly loved him. I also really appreciated Jamie’s exploration of his sexuality to show that it wasn’t just a gay for you situation.
I can’t wait to read more and see how they do living together in Canada and how their relationship works in the closet.
Just want to say you will not be disappointed. Great story. Love it!!
I don’t like reading (or writing for that matter), first person POV, present tense, but dang, the authors did an excellent job with it in this book. It’s the only book that I’ve gone back to and read more than once. Really, it’s that good!
Well Done
I really liked Ryan and Jamie’s story. It was real.
Young men trying to figure out their lives. What to do after college, what job to take, where to live, who to love and what will their families think. I enjoyed watching them figure it out.
Him is book one in the Him duet by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy. While I have read several books by Elle Kennedy, this is my very first involving Sarina. Why oh why did I wait so long to read this because OH…MY…GOSH!!! I am in love!
Jamie Canning is twenty two years old and is about to graduate from Ranier and Ryan Wesley is about to graduate from Northern Mass. Both are hockey stars for their respective colleges. These two met when they were around twelve years old at an Elite summer Hockey camp. They got to spend the summer together for six years and kept in touch during the months they were apart. They were best friends. But on their last summer, when they were eighteen years old, a silly bet on a shootout match changed everything. Wes ghosted him and they haven’t spoken in four years. But now their teams are both playing in the championship and they find themselves at the same hotel. Wes can finally apologize for his actions.
Jamie is no longer a student at the summer hockey camp but now a coach. But this summer, he’s in for quite a shock when Wes shows up as his new roommate and fellow coach. The summer turns out to be one of life changing revelations for both of these men, both personally and together.
It’s here that I have to say that if I could rate this book on swoons rather than stars, it would get ALL THE SWOONS! Because these two together were EVERYTHING! Hold on to all of your bits because they burned up the pages with their chemistry. But, they also just fit! Wes was a force of nature and Jamie was unflappable. Together, they balanced each other. I also have to mention Jamie’s family! They kind of stole the show! They were hilarious and wonderful and just amazing.
This book is smokin’, swoony, sweet, funny and absolutely wonderful. I couldn’t stop reading. It comes to a satisfying ending if you choose to stop here but I am going right on to the next book, Us! It is a continuation of their story as a couple. I can’t wait to get started.
Funny, sexy, heartbreaking and heartwarming!

HIM, is an MM Hockey Sports Romance. Jamie and Ryan have been going to hockey summer camp for years and they are best friends. Until one fateful night when a crazy bet was made, double dares were issued, and the words “let’s watch some porn” were uttered. That night changed Ryan and Jamie’s friendship forever. Ryan went radio silent and Jamie never understood why he lost his friend.
4 years later; Ryan and Jamie are about to run into each other again when their college hockey teams both make it to the final four.
Ryan is the adrenaline junky, always testing boundaries, and the guy that will always come up with the really bad ideas. He has also figured out that he is gay and in love with his straight friend Jamie. He has carried the guilt of that fateful night for 4 years and knows he has to apologize to Jamie.
Jamie, calm, cool and collected. Has never understood why he lost his best friend after one crazy night. Will he finally get the answers he is looking for when he finally faces his old friend?
Good heavens these two. Ryan broke my heart and Jamie warmed my heart. I had a stupid grin most of the time because these two and their shenanigans were funny. Jamie’s confusion and finally acceptance towards his newly discovered sexuality was both funny (the way he tested his theory), beautiful and natural. I fell for Jamie hard.
Ryan, trying to do the right thing by his friend, makes many mistakes. Geez, does Ryan make mistakes. What I enjoyed about this book is the level of communication between the characters. Once they get over the 4-year hiatus, they both decide not to hold anything in, and that open and honest dialog was wonderful. No unnecessary angst just to further a story. HIM, is just a beautifully funny and wonderful friend to lover romance!
I loved the characters, steam, and humor throughout the book! HIM had a storyline that was both realistic and heartwarming. To put it simply, HIM was just a fantastic book, one I will recommend to all my friends that are fans of this genre.
Generally speaking, ‘Turning the straight guy gay’ isn’t my fave trope. But that being said, for some reason, I’ve been reading a lot of it lately and this story was a a very good example of how to do it right. I liked the playful nature of the MCs. I even liked the hockey plot line. The characters were believable and fun and likeable. Plus a very satisfying HEA. Would definitely recommend!
This book is perfect. I loved the story. The Narrators were amazing. This is one I will definitely listen to again and again.
This was my first MM romance and I am obsessed!!!
4 stars for Him by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy . This is book one in the Him series . This is a m/m romance. “The fact that he’d been the first guy I ever loved and the one who made me face some terrifying things about myself…well, all that will go unsaid.” Jamie and Ryan were best friends at one time but Ryan was dealing with his feelings for Jaime . He decided he ruined their friendship after pushing Jamie too far. Now years later they see each other again and the past comes back to play.
This was emotional journey . You have Ryan is is gay but not openly because of his career in hockey . Then you have Jaime who has always thought he was straight but realizes he might have feelings for Ryan. He struggles to understand . I loved these two together . I can’t wait to read the next book.

Ah. Wesmie.
So many people told me that I needed to read this. So. I finally caved, and the only regret I have is that it took me so long to get here.
The push and pull between them. The confusion in discovering ones true self. Easy acceptance. Harsh critics. How one copes. It’s all here.
There was an easiness in the relationship, brought forth from their friendship growing in ways neither of them expected.
If you happen to be new to reading/listening to M/M romance, this is the perfect book to introduce you to the trope.
I already new what to expect when I started this book and picked it up out of my own curiosity to see a how a newly gay would cope with all the prejudices of the world when a straight man falls for someone of the same sex. Although I tend to read a little darker, this book was very enjoyable and the sex was ON FIRE!
Teddy Hamilton and Jacob Morgan are two of my favorite narrators and I am in bliss any chance I get to listen to their work.
I Give this Book a 4.5/5 Star Rating, Listing as 5.
HEA(?): Yes, it most definitely can be read as a standalone and HEA, but there is a Book 2 🙂
Relationship Type: MM
Heat: 4.5/5
Romance: 4-4.5/5
Drama: 3.5/5
Suspense: 4/5

No Spoilers.
Updated Review: Audio Version added.
Audiobook: I Give the Audio a 4/5 Star Rating,
I loved the voices they fit the characters so well and were appealing to listen to, the only issue I had was that one of the narrators audio sounds a little distant at times while the other what much louder and upfront. I really needed something to concentrate on and this is a really good book to listen to in audio.
I really love this book and it’s a book that is a comfort read and always at the forefront of my mind when I need a good MM to read with really enjoyable heated scenes.
I will always reread this book and it’s a non chaotic/over dramatic read which is exactly what I needed.
I definitely recommend this book.
Now I wanna jump into Book 2!
