After Paul Stutzman lost his wife to breast cancer, he sensed a tug on his heart — the call to a challenge, the call to pursue a dream. Paul left his stable career, traveled to Georgia, and took his first steps on the Appalachian Trail. What he learned during the next four and a half months changed his life — and will change readers’ lives as well.
In , readers will join Paul on his remarkable … readers will join Paul on his remarkable 2,176-mile hike through fourteen states in search of peace and a renewed sense of purpose, meeting fascinating and funny people along the way. They’ll discover that every choice we make along the path has consequences for the journey and will come away with a new understanding of God’s grace and guidance. Nature-lovers, armchair adventurers, and those grieving a loss may not be able to hike the AT themselves, but they can go on this spiritual pilgrimage with a truly humble and sympathetic guide.

Shows that grief doesn’t go away easily. And that life can become new and enjoyable again. Each person has his own way of coming through it.
just not my style. I’ll save it for my husband. He is more of a hiker.
I enjoyed the insight into the struggles and joys of the trail. At times though I felt I was getting TMI (to much personal info). But all in all it was a good read.
Didn’t expect it to so perfectly mirror where I am at spiritually, just thought it would be an interesting read. I think anybody who is seriously active in spiritual formation and growth will love this book.
Totally enjoyed this book. My husband and I have desired to hike the AT for 30 plus years…I had no idea the weather situations that would be encountered. As I read through the adventure I just put myself right there with ” apostle Paul “. Thank you for making this possible Vicariously through your story telling skills.
It was easy for me to identify with the author and his story. Since it was a true story it was important to stick with the truth and still keep me involved. He did a great job of it.
I read this book to learn some tips & techniques on thru-hiking, but this book taught me so much more. The life changing lessons that the author shares are priceless!
A thoroughly enjoyable book with some religious insight! Very enjoyable!
I so enjoyed this book that I purchased his book on bicycling across USA and I loved both of them.
Interesting book and an interesting way for individuals to deal with death of a loved one. Expressed his faith and beliefs but not off putting so is interesting to all readers.
Being disabled, I will never get to hike the AT (Appalachian trail) but I used to love day hikes years ago. I lived the trail experience vicariously through this book. I much appreciated the connections he made with God. Only a harden atheist wouldn’t see and feel God in the wondrous of His creation. His message was wholesome and important!
This is the 2nd book by this author I’ve read. He has a way of making you feel you are on the journey with him every step of the way. A wonderful book with lots of great ways to encourage you though life with God’s help.
Loved reading about the Appalachian Trail. Honest account of his emotions.
