He has dirt on his hands…
For years, Lieutenant Ned “Wraith” Wagner had been on the trail of a series of highly placed, dangerous assets. He’d used everyone and everything at his disposal to weed out the problems. It had cost him—relationships, trust, agents, and good friends. He now has a chance at the grail, an archive file containing everything he needs to finally dismantle the network he’s … network he’s waged war against. One problem, he needs the right operative and his options are limited, and he’s on the clock.
She’s compromised, blacklisted, and burned…
Hollis “Holiday” Dagr retired at gunpoint two years earlier. It was either retire and disappear, or Leavenworth. She took the hint and vanished. The absolute last person she wants to see is the Wraith who burned her. The last thing she wants to hear is he needs her help. Then he dangles the one thing guaranteed to motivate her—exoneration. Fine, she’ll do the job, but he’s going with her. He always planned on seeing her again and making it right. Now he just has to survive her long enough to make up for hijacking her life.

Another great story by Heather Long. When it comes to weaving a storyline full of intrigue, twists and turns and kick ass characters she is one of the best. This story revolves around Ned and Hollis who were involved in a special forces military operation that went bad and cost Hollis her job and freedom because of something Ned did and regretted. Now two years later Ned has a chance to salvage the operation and hopefully correct the situation that cost Hollis het job and former life. But first he needs her to help him with the operation and hopefully find the forgiveness he seeks. There is a rocky start to this second chance romance but the story is quite engrossing and I was hooked right away. If you want to know how this story ends up I suggest you check this one out. Its well worth it. I thoroughly enjoyed it
This world is one I like to enter when I can with each other giving us some good installments. This author gives us a good one that will have you caught up in this with no time at all. Ned has his hands full with a big decision to make. Hollis is a interesting character with us paying attention to what she will do. As the two have to work together at least that is what they think lol, we follow along to see the path this takes. The suspense and danger will reach a high with us having anxiety a time or two. The banter will give us a bit of entertainment. What a entanglement this one was with us loving it every bit of the way.
I think the best part of this author’s intrigue/action/romance stories are her kick-butt heroines! Let’s just say that if I have crossed them, I don’t want to meet any of them in a dark alley. I would, however, love to have one at my back.
I’m not sure I can say anything about the plot without giving away any spoilers but I can tell you I loved the characters, especially Hollis “Holiday” Dagr. She is a burned operative, out of the game for a few years, but you’d never know it for how well she operates. Ned “Wraith” Wagner has asked for her help, under very unlikely circumstances, and their “mission” goes sideways, nine ways to Tuesday!
Amazing wild ride! Loved it.
If you’ve read the other books in this series, you’ll realize that each of them contained a piece to a much larger puzzle.
In this one Lt. Ned ‘Wraith’ Wagner is going to make amends to everyone he’s caused hurt. At least he hopes to. Even Tex was skeptical when he asked where he could find Holiday. She is the only one who can help him close this out and take down all the top people. Although just approaching her could very well kill him.
Run or face jail was the ultimate Ned gave Hollis “Holiday” Dagr. She ran and is now hiding out in paradise her getaway orchestrated by Tex guaranteed she’d be safe. In spite of the warm weather, the ocean and a beautiful house on the island, Hollis is getting bored. She exercises regularly to keep in shape and as she returns from a run there is the telltale signs someone is in her home.
Ned was the last person she expected to see, but she really isn’t all that surprised.
As Ned convinces her he needs her help he also promises her exoneration from the crimes she unwittingly committed for him.
Fast-paced, with plenty of action, a second chance romance, Sizzle and so much more.
Ned aka Wraith has done a bang up job of stracising everyone he is close to, all in pursuit of the elusive Network. His sister and her partner kinda hate him for using her in his cat and mouse games. He has one last play to make. This one, however, is all on him. Well with a little help from another asset he burned. But she was more than an asset. He was her handler, her friend…her lover.
Hollis aka Holiday is hiding in the one place that she knows Ned would never look for her. She may be taking a sick pride in using his last name as her alias too. She still nurses the anger that Ned pulled her into his machinations and then spat her out. She had to flea or end up in jail. She really can’t believe the cojones on him though when he turns up looking for her help. But he’s pushing her one weak spot. A kid has been abducted.
I was pretty much with Holiday all through this book. Ned was pretty horrible to her and the rest of his assets. But I do think his biggest critic was himself. I loved the way that Holiday totally gave him grief, even when the chemistry still burned hot between them, she didn’t let him off too easy.
