Her
Snark. Jokes. Attitude.
These were all things I used to disguise the hole in my heart. I’m not a happy person. I don’t live life. I just exist. That is until that beautiful man rides in on his Harley Fat Boy and burns rubber on the way into my heart.
Him
My life’s been no hayride either. Everyone I’ve ever loved in life has died or betrayed me. So I stay back and watch. Unless you’re one … back and watch. Unless you’re one of my brothers, you get nothing from me. I don’t participate. I ride. I eat. I sleep. I work. And I repeat. That is until Ember stomps into my life with her bad attitude. She’s all piss and vinegar, and makes me want to share my bike seat for the first time.
Together
They fight like cats and dogs. Don’t see eye to eye on a single thing. They rant, rave, and yell.
They bring out the best in each other. They heal each other’s hearts and souls. They find what they were missing, even the things they never even knew they had.
Everything is perfect. If you didn’t count a gang, one of the biggest in the South, gunning for Ember. That, or the pure evilness that is Gabe’s ex-girlfriend. Gabe will have to put his life on the line to save the one woman he loves, but will it be enough?
One thing is constant in life. It’s about the journey, not about the destination.

I just couldnt put this one down. This was a perfect combination of drama with a mix of some laughable moments. This combination is what kept my attention throughout this book. I love the connection between the characters and how they fit so perfect together. This series is definitly one that i can see being on my re-read list.
Gabe and Ember were truly beautiful together! Like many of my favorite heroes, Gabe was a bit broken, but Ember was the one to dive deep, get him to open up, give him the motivation to thrive. I adored Gabe! While I also really liked Ember, I could have done without her childishness, especially when it was paired with Cheyenne’s bouts of immaturity. These characters have such huge hearts and although they (and I really mean mainly Ember) made some silly mistakes, everything they do is out of love.
The suspenseful edge of this story was actually terrifying and had my heart pumping like crazy. Gabe was a beast and I love a take-charge man who can basically take everyone out viciously and single-handedly. Yummmmm!
Okay, so there were some interesting facts I learned from this story. I got to see the origin of Gabe Jr and now meeting his father… I can see why I enjoyed If You Say So so much. I also got to see more about Cora from Ain’t Doin’ It and my heart broke more for her. I don’t know how Lani Lynn Vale keeps all of these characters and their family trees and events straight, but I’m impressed and I can’t wait to learn more.
I love Ember and Gabe’s story. I was rooting for them to get together since Sam and Cheyenne.
These two made me laugh so much and I just loved Gabe’s alpha ways!!!! There were some good twist that were a shock but it always has a way of working out.
You definitely need to go read this book.
A back and forth, push and pull romance. Gabe and Ember embark on an emotional, heartfelt, and endearing journey. This book had the perfect amount of drama, suspense, and of course romance. I enjoyed this story.
Loved.Gabe and Ember’s story
Gabe and Ember have spent months circling each other, most of the time in some sort of fight. Seeing him with another woman, hurt her. When Em, is attacked at the university she works at, Gabe is who she comes to for help.
Gabe had a great life until his early teens when his father died and his mother remarried. Joining the Army, becoming a Ranger, and his friendship with his fellow Freebird, are the few good things in his life. Losing his mom, the dear John from his girlfriend, and the loss of his child all weight him down. He knows Ember is to good for him, but his is claiming her anyway.
Ember has been targeted by a gang. Keeping her safe has become Gabe’s priority.
His ex is in town, and she has kept a big secret from him.
He almost looses Em.
Gabe is determined to keep his.family together and safe.
Fast paced, steamy, plenty of laugh out loud moments and drama. Great epilogue. Sam’s dad makes his appearance, his demands still unknown. Max has been called back to service. Looking forward to his story.
This is my 4th time reading this series. I didn’t realize that I never left a review for it. I’m slacking. This book is amazing.
There is so much that happens with Ember and Gabe. They both go through so much. You will have all the emotions while reading this.
Lani Lynn Vale is a fall back author for me. Meaning if nothing sounds good, I start with Boomtown and do a complete reread of every book in every series.
This is the second time that I have devoured Highway Don’t Care and it is even better than the first time. Gabe and Ember’s story is one of those that will make you laugh till you cry, then turn around and just plain old make you cry from the heart wrenching moments. A story that is emotional, heartfelt with a huge dose of drama, action and chaos. Ember and Gabe will steal your heart and steam up your kindle with the chemistry, passion and unwavering love these two display. A story that won me over the first time around and reminded me just why I loved this series and these two the second time.
Gabe, is a member of Free. Ember is the sister of Max, who is also a member. This story squeezes your heart and yet fills your heart up.
I admit, this is my second time reading this series. So, that should say something.
Ember and Gabe have not talked in months, the snarky banter back and forth came to a head but it didn’t temper the chemistry between each other. When Ember ends up the target for a gang hit, the first person she calls is Gabe. Gabe realizes this is his chance to keep Ember by his side and he plans to make sure she never wants to leave.
This was a very fun read. I did feel like I was missing some start of the story which was in the first book. I will have to go back to read the first one. The characters are zany and had some interesting quirks. Look forward to reading more in this series.
Gabe is one of my favorite book boyfriends. Ember is so sassy and funny. I love her in Boomtown and couldn’t wait for her book. Love the whole Free community.
