Traveling with her parents to meet Edward, her soon-to-be husband who is titled, handsome and kind, but soon finds out he is hiding a secret. Both Keith and Rose learn what is truly important in life. A delicious romance full of drama, turmoil, deception, murder, many twist and turns and an everlasting love. This story has a way of grabbing you the first few pages and then you can’t put the book down until the end. I loved revisiting old friends that you haven’t seen for a while. It was nice to catch up with them. It’s one Outstanding historical romance by Alisa Adams.
This was such a sweet romantic book. You don’t have the typical battle with highlanders but make no mistake there was a battle. Keith always thought he wanted to be a warrior like most highlanders so he went to talk to Shamus his cousin and laid. Sarina (Shamus’ wife) actually had a great idea. She wanted to visit her brother in England and thought it good that Keith escort her then work for her uncle. That way it would help him as well as try to blend the highlanders and English so that there weren’t any more wars. Sarina’s brother Harold was hosting a marriage proposal and when seen Rose, the woman, to be betrothed he was smitten at first look. But he knew he couldn’t do anything about it. Now let’s just say lots of things happened during this time Rose and Edwards parents are hashing out the details of the marriage proposal. Without saying to much more I’ll just say that Keith stumbles on something he wasn’t suppose to. Recommend Reading!! Great Job Alisa!!
I loved this novella. A novella that checks off all the right boxes. It’s not often you find everything you desire from a great book in such a small package but this does it. It has all the right feels, plenty of action, some drama and the joy of falling in love. There is danger, lies, betrayal, secrets and murder. This is a must read. You will not be disappointed.
Keith was a highlander and was proud of it. He was also a gentle and loving man. He was so anxious to gain some glory for himself. He had been training to be a warrior. Right now he had been gathering plants, herbs, and roots for his mother. The wife of the Laird, Sarina suggested that he go with her to England because she was going to see her brother. She felt if people got to know the highlanders they would not think of them as war beasts.
Rose had ambitions and she wanted a titled man with English manners. Her parents were very proud of her and loved her deeply. They also doted on her and wanted her to be happy. They were going to negotiate a marriage contract for her. Edward was his name, he tried very hard to hide his faults. He wanted to travel, see places and her dowry would help a lot. she tried to be honorable and be a good wife. Till Keith told her that he saw Edward in bed with a very nasty maid.
The story was enchanting, she felt she loved Edward, she got all tingly anytime he touched her. The author did a great job making the tale seem realistic and with the characters she has a winner. This went through a whole range of emotions. Lust, lies, murder, attempted murder, infidelity, there was also gentle and kindness shown. There is a little sex but still a wonderful book.
I received this ARC from the author and voluntarily reviewed the book.
