Highlander’s Veiled Assassin is another great book by Alisa Adams! I love Highland books with the Scottish brogue and this one don’t let you down. Highlander’s Unexpected Ally by Alisa Adams is a well-plotted, interesting highland tale with characters that are complex and so believable it feels like you can just reach out and touch them. Emily and Angus came alive for me as I pictured them falling in love and fighting for that love. All the drama, suspense, self-discovery and just enough erotic for another great read. Alisa has a way of grabbing you the first few pages and then you can’t put the book down until the end. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, from cover to cover. The Extended Epilogue rounds out the story very well. But what about the two companions………? Also you will find Seamus and Sarina’s story in Highlander’s Veiled Assassin, another wonderful story!

HIGHLANDER’S VEILED ASSASSIN
Well when two worlds collide you expect a full fledge war but not in this case. Sarina was betrothed to Laird Seamus because he killed her dad and she was suppose to kill him. BUT what really happens isn’t war well maybe war of the emotions.
HIGHLANDER’S UNEXPECTED ALLY
I really enjoyed this book. The characters where wonderful….one being damaged and one persistent. There’s romance as well as adventure. A must read for sure you won’t be disappointed.
HIGHLANDER’S DARING ESCAPE
LOVE this book ! The characters are amazing and the story is believable ! I absolutely love all her books they seem to keep getting better and better !! Homelessness, romance, ditziness, and twist and turns. She keeps you wondering what’s really gonna happen. Couldn’t put the book down !!
HIGHLANDER’S TRUSTED TRAITOR
This was such a sweet romantic book. You don’t have the typical battle with highlanders but make no mistake there was a battle. Keith always thought he wanted to be a warrior like most highlanders so he went to talk to Shamus his cousin and laid. Sarina (Shamus’ wife) actually had a great idea. She wanted to visit her brother in England and thought it good that Keith escort her then work for her uncle. That way it would help him as well as try to blend the highlanders and English so that there weren’t any more wars. Sarina’s brother Harold was hosting a marriage proposal and when seen Rose, the woman, to be betrothed he was smitten at first look. But he knew he couldn’t do anything about it. Now let’s just say lots of things happened during this time Rose and Edwards parents are hashing out the details of the marriage proposal. Without saying to much more I’ll just say that Keith stumbles on something he wasn’t suppose to. Recommend Reading!! Great Job Alisa!!
I received this as an ARC for my honest and voluntary review.
*** SPOILER ALERT ***
1. Highlander’s Veiled Assassin
What a feel-good story. It was full of charged emotions and feelings. There is an arranged political marriage between an English lady and a Scottish Laird. It was to broker peace. There was fear of the unknown, prejudice against the highlanders, bandits, betrayal, kidnapping and death-defying situations. This is an exciting action adventure romance. I do recommend it.
2. Highlander’s Unexpected Ally
A difficult tale of a young girl, Emily who was ripped from her parents at a tender age and grew up as a slave to several bandits. They treated her worse than a dog. Then she was rescued when they stole Laird MacKenzie’s wife. Sarina and Seamus welcomed her to Clan MacKenzie and gave her a home. Emily was still traumatized by what happened to her when living with the bandits for years. Even after several months Emily still lived in fear and distrust. But the love shown to her by Sarina and Seamus’s family helped. Seamus’s younger brother Angus took a shine to Emily but he knew she was too withdrawn to receive any amorous attention. When the bandits were found and put in the castle dungeon, Sarina gently suggested to Emily to face her fear and ask them what she wanted to know. Emily wanted to know what happened to her parents and if they were still alive. After the interrogation of one of the bandits, she found out her father was dead but there was still a chance her mother was still alive. She and Angus got Seamus’s permission to go and explore all the leads on her mother. An adventure of danger, self-discovery, trust, loyalty, romance and love awaited her. An excellent read and I do recommend it.
3. Highlander’s Daring Escape
One of the BEST Highlander stories I have read this year! Bryan Pressley learned from a young age that his name belonged to a once powerful clan. Due to greed and misfortune the name Pressley was lost to the annals of history. But Bryan’s Da never forgot and wanted to rebuild the Pressley prestige and name. He died before anything happened. That left Bryan alone in the world. He was a wanderer with no home and did good deeds for many people along his travels. Eventually he desired to settle down and have a family. One day protecting the virtue of his friend’s daughter he became a fugitive on the run. He came to a stream and there he came across Lady Catherine Browne and her maid and best friend Betsy. One look was all it took for an unshakable, unbreakable bond to be created between them. Catherine’s Uncle Nathaniel was the guilty party for the attempted rape. He was evil and vindictive and was determined to kill Bryan. Eventually Catherine and Bryan were reunited and they could not fight the attraction and the building affection that they had for each other. They ran away. They were hunted like animals by Nathaniel. Fugitives on the run there was danger everywhere. Even though they were in Scotland some of Bryan’s own people turned against him for the reward of turning him in. In this story karma was a big factor. All the kindness and good deeds Bryan had done over the years finally rewarded him with allies to side with him against Nathaniel. The MacKenzie stronghold was a grand fortified prosperous keep. Here Bryan and Catherine found refuge and friends. When the time came for a meeting between Catherine’s father Thomas and her Uncle Nathaniel, the MacKenzie clan supported them with their best warriors. Nathaniel’s true nature was exposed and he was taken away in chains. Thomas gave Bryan his blessing to marry Catherine. When they all returned to the keep, one of the elders came forward excited. He had the deed to the original Pressley keep for the next heir. But none could be found until now. This is a brilliantly written story sure to please any romantics who like their stories filled with danger and adventure this is the one to read. I highly recommend it.
4. Highlander’s Trusted Traitor
I loved this novella. A novella that checks off all the right boxes. It’s not often you find everything you desire from a great book in such a small package but this does it. It has all the right feels, plenty of action, some drama and the joy of falling in love. There is danger, lies, betrayal, secrets and murder. This is a must read. You will not be disappointed.
