I totally enjoyed this book. I was quite surprised at the whole storyline. This story brought so much to the table that I wasn’t expecting. I don’t do spoilers it’s not fair to the author. You can get all you need by reading the blurb. Better yet read the book. I will tell you how the book affected me.
This story is way ahead of it’s time. Yes it’s set back in the days of Scottish castles and land war and such but the women in the book are not weak, or caught up in mundane tasks. They have a purpose and they’re smart, funny, quick witted, beautiful, talented and are feminist before there were even feminist. It is so refreshing to read this in a story where the women are on equal footing. Don’t get me wrong this is a love story. The men in this story are as important as the women. They are way ahead of their time. Some men today could take a lesson from this book. I seriously read this book in one sitting. I had to know how they were going to resolve all the issues in the story. Yes, there is more than one major issue.
There’s a sweetness and a smartness to the story. I found myself smiling quite a bit.
One of the unique parts of this book is that there are of course two main characters. Godet, the oldest sister, and Gordon, the Laird of the MacDonnell Clan. However, there are many characters who are almost lead. I’ll refer to them as supporting characters. They all added so much dept to the story.
I really don’t want to say too much, (although I really do) because you need to enjoy this book all on your own. If you like Highland stories, and learning a little of the Scottish language, intrigue, learning about weapons of old, romance, anticipation, smiling a lot and a good love story then this is the book for you. Don’t worry you’ll get your villains to hate. But you’ll also learn appearances can be deceiving.
Seriously, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. I had a feeling I would like it but I really fell in love with this book. Let me just say, i liked every one of the sisters, especially Godet, each sister brought something special to the book, but I have a warm spot in my heart for the youngest sister, Ina. When you read this book you will too! This is a story I will be re-reading.
I loved that the warriors were women. They all have definite personality especially the youngest sister. She’s as funny as she is fierce
Absolutely Wonderful!
Loved this book, wonderful characters.!
I really like highlander books. This one was a good read! It kept me up much latter then my hubby was happy about! Read it!
STRONG leading characters. The Scots have long been known for their strong men and even stronger women that stand by them.
Just loved this book, it kept me entertained.
I enjoyed this book. If you like strong, smart women, I think you will enjoy this book.
HIGHLANDER’S LIONHEART:
Action? Danger? Adventure? Soul Mate Complications? An exciting story where the heroine Godet and her three sisters Flori, Ceena and Ina barely escaped their castle that was overrun by the evil Mungan and his men. Their Aunt Hexy pointed them to Laird MacDonald’s clan. She told Godet that her parents betrothed her at a young age to the Laird’s son Gordon. Godet never knew and wondered if Gordon did? In this story Godet is amazing. She is the quintessential warrioress or Amazonian woman not in size but in intelligence, bravery and weaponry. She trained her own horses Clydesdale’s. These horses were giants among their kind and yet were loved and trained specifically for each rider. When Godet met Gordon after many, many years, they were no longer children but a grown man and woman. There was an immediate attraction between them but Gordon had a huge complication that could not be ignored. The story tells of Gordon falling in love with Godet and she with him. But Godet knew the complication in Gordon’s life would forever keep them apart. Now Mungan did not give up his pursuit of Godet. To become the legitimate Laird of Fionnaghall Castle he would have to marry Godet the rightful heir. Even when the sisters reached the safety of the MacDonall clan at Conall castle Mungan did not stop trying to kidnap her. The story made me laugh as the youngest Ross sister Ina had such an imagination. It was hysterical and their Aunt Hexy, I could not tell if she was truly eccentric and had brilliant ideas or not. She was definitely someone you cannot forget. The adventure continues as two of the sisters were captured but then escaped. It was so interesting comical even that each sister had attracted their soulmate. Their interactions made me laugh. These sisters were so independent that they were not used to men doing for them. At the same time doubt crept into Godet’s mind as to why Gordon was pursuing her. She decided to attack Mungan and take their home Fionnaghall back on their own. A very exciting story of brave strong women and the warriors that loved them. I loved the extended epilogue and it peaked into the future. A very satisfying read and I look forward to the next installment of the Ross sisters. I highly recommend this book.
I thoroughly loved this book. The characters were all very interesting the plot was well thought out. Alisa Adam’s has a real gift of capturing the readers attention and keeping it until the end !
Godet and her sisters have a mission to recapture their childhood home that a crooked uncle by marriage has stolen from them. To do this they must enlist the help of
Laird Gordon Macdonall. He and Godet were betrothed as children. It is the sisters hope that he will honor the pledge made by their parents. On the eve of Gordon’s marriage and alliance with clan Mackenzie he receives word that the four beautiful Ross women on very large draft horses and their aging eccentric
aunt are seeking asylum with Laird Macdonnall.
This book has it all. Romance, Intrigue and a sprinkle here and there of laugh out loud humor. I highly recommend this book !
I enjoyed this book tremendously!! The story of 4 sisters who fight for their home. The heroes who step up to help & the unexpected twist of a 5th ” sister” adds so much fun. I learned some fun new words- Mokit, manky, mingin, bowfin bampots! Thanks so much for this awesome book!!!
I love to read books by Alisa Adams but this book was my absolute favorite! I love the depth of the characters. It was so well written it was so hard for me to put the book down & i absolutely loved the ending!
Loved this book!! This story is about Godet and her 3 strong, warrior sisters. Hoping each sister gets her own story. I found it to be humorous, suspenseful and filled with swoon worthy men. I also liked that while Godet and Gordon (the hero) clearly have a connection, the most they share are some passionate kisses. Excellent historical romance!!
Loved the book. Had a problem with Brigda though, she was mean. I felt sorry for the Ross sisters, but they stuck together. Loved the romance. Each sister had a warrior that wanted to take care of them. Wonderful to see women as warriors.
I couldn’t stop reading this book, I love the description of the land and it had plenty of adventure and it also had it’s funny moments. It’s a awesome book and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading about Scottish medieval time.
OK – who doesn’t like the Ross Sisters and their wild rides? First in the Ross Sisters’ Collection, it captures your adventurous spirit, it’s funny and whimsical, the plots and deceptions make you keep reading to the end – gotta love the aunties. Extremely strong characters and storyline. If you like warriors, including women warriors on white horses with dirks disguised as pieces of clothing, action packed storylines with drama and mysteries, this series is for you! It was for me.
Quick read, beach read!!
Fun reading.
The plot twists in this highlander romance were well contrived and added a great deal of suspense to the story. A very enjoyable read!
loved this book and wish it didn’t end. If you like Scotish love stories, this is the book for you.
