New York Times Bestselling Author Joanne Wadsworth brings you another tantalizing Highlander time travel series you shouldn’t miss. Readers are loving it!There can be only one…for both of them.In the twelfth century, a man named Gilleoin was gifted with the ability to shift into a bear. His clan was called Matheson, and when he mated with a woman carrying faerie blood, they created a line … blood, they created a line shrouded in secrecy, yet still, far into the future, whispers would abound…
For five long years, Isla Matheson has run from the one man her fae ancestor prophesized would be hers, but now her time for running is done. Her shifter mate is closing in and when he captures her and takes her home to his clan, she can no longer deny either of them. She chooses to merge with him in all ways, and in doing so sets a twelfth century prophecy in motion, one that sends her hurtling back through time to when their clan first began.
Highland warrior shifter Iain Matheson has fallen under his mate’s spell. She’s the one woman he would die to protect, and when a portal opens and takes her from him, he dives in after her. He’ll never allow her to escape him, not even when he becomes embroiled in one of the greatest feuds raging at that time.
Now they have a mission, to save their future line from extinction, to give hope to their people, both in the future and the past.
Each book in this series is standalone, and can be enjoyed out of sequence.

I have been provided with a review copy of Highlander’s Desire by the author for an impartial review. This is the first book in The Matheson Brothers trilogy and what a way to start the series. I absolutely love this writer’s style and how she brings the characters to life. I’m usually not a fan of a storyline that goes back and forth between past and present but the author did it in such a way that you were totally immersed in each part. It was done stunningly. This book follows Isla and Iain the first of the brothers. I loved seeing them together and how they complete each other. I can’t wait to read the next one in the series to see what happens.
This is the first book in a series that I am coming to love. This first book is mostly set in the present day as Isla runs from her fate with Iain. After she is “caught”, she comes to understand that there is more than just their future at stake. As they come together a portal opens and Isla falls through, Iain will not let that be and goes after her. SPOILER – Iain is one of a set of triplets and his 2 brothers follow into the portal.
I found the story funny, entertaining and a really fast read. I am enjoying the series as a whole and do recommend the series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Isla Matheson knows time is running out for her. For five years, she has been running from her true mate. She knows he is close to finding her and it’s the full moon. Not that they need a moon to shift, but it’s when he has the best chance to find her. But she’s an investigator(and daughter of the chief of her pack) for her pack, and two rogue killer bear shifters need to be caught before they kill again. So full moon or not, she and her best friend’s husband, Daniel, have to go hunting. Iain Matheson knows his chosen one is near, and he’s determined to find her. He’s the son of the chief of his clan, the other Matheson clan in Scotland. Both are part of a prophesy from the 1100’s, one that Isla isn’t too happy with in particular. The two clans are completely separate and hidden from one another due to the prophesy. When Isla and Daniel’s hunt takes the two near the other clans territory, all bets are off. Isla is feisty and strong, and of course Iain is both strong and alpha. He is also very determined to make Isla his. Daniel was a good character, and is happily married with a baby. Too bad, as it would have been interesting to see him find his chosen one too. Iain is a triplet and his brothers are both involved
I was a bit disappointed with this story. It felt like immature teenagers that were having steamy gym most of the times. Normally I really like JWs stories but this was not one I will read again.
Parts of the story was enjoyable but it felt confusing and too steamy for me. But this is of course my opinion. Read it and make your own.
Good start to a Highlander Shifter story. This is the beginning of the series about the Matheson family and their family that mixes with the fae. You’ll get to a point and then you’ll need the next book to continue on. That being said, it was a fast and easy read. There are three brother shifters that are seeking their mates. When the oldest one, Iain, finally finds his (she’s been running for 5 years) they bond and set into motion a prophecy. The prophecy begins when the oldest one finds his mate, Isla and the four of them (the brothers and Isla) and sent back to prevent a massacre in the 12th century. This book sets up the story and matches Isla and Iain. I’m off now to read the next book which is focused on one of the brothers, but is another piece in the overall arc. I just started the series but I believe it is close to complete?? So I feel comfortable starting so I don’t have to wait for the next book. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.)
A new series called The Matheson Brothers and I could not stop reading a well-written book that I enjoyed. I want to read the next book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and I also bought this book.
The final story in the Matheson Brothers Trilogy ends with Kirk’s story. The youngest of his brothers it is now his time to find the one who is meant for him. Her name is Cherub and she has many abilities which include helping others find their soul bound mate. As she meets Kirk, she finds he is determined to capture her.
A great ending for the three brothers that will keep your attention just as the other two.
I found this book to be a very enjoyable read! The storyline was well written and the characters were well detailed which kept me totally enthralled as I turned each page! This book was such a joy to read that I ended up reading it in one evening!
I have read Highlander Time Travel stories before but none with shifters. This is an exciting novel to read. Passionate full of action and adventure and love. I was sorry when I read the last page of the novel because I did not want the story to end. I highly recommend this.
Always love a good historical hot highlander story…
Good read bit ended in a “cliffhanger” now i need to buy the next book!
typical shifter story
Good time travel. Makes you want to read the series.
Couldn’t get into it. I like bears, just don’t think they are sexy.
