He must lie to have her, she will do anything to refuse his claim on her…

A very interesting storyline with an unexpected twist. Great characters that Fiona always make come to life; characters you can love or hate. Definitely a page turner.

I love reading books by Fiona Faris and this is no exception! Highlander’s Dark Seduction is one amazing Highland romance with a strong plot that brings this read together perfectly. Filled with delightful dialogue, humor, drama, kidnapping, suspense, sizzling romance, twists and turns.
Another great HEA story.
Let me preface this review with how much I have enjoyed reading Fiona Faris’ books. This is my 12th book and most have been 4- and 5-star reviews. This book however falls short of the mark. However, I do look forward to her next book.
1) Storyliine: 4/5
2) Editing and proofreading: 3/5
I found the storyline of the book a little too fantastical. I know this is fiction but I guess I was expecting a little more life like story. Somehow, I felt I got dropped into a story feeling that there were some beginning elements missing. It was difficult to get into the story at the beginning as it immediately started with the heroine Rebecca MacTavish locked up in a room after being kidnapped and separated from her men by the brigand Chris Ellis and his men. I never learned how Chris came upon the Dun Alba estate and why he so desperately wanted it. I understood his background and how he became the way he was. Which was a sad story. But more importantly he always struggled with that gang life. Eventually he wanted his freedom and had to go to extremes to get it. But how Rebecca became his target I did not learn even though I knew why. It just seems there was a history between the MacTavish family and Chris and his men that was not explained. If it was, I must have missed it. Then there was the mystery of his birth. It was introduced at the end of the book, picked up in the extended epilogue and it was left hanging. I do hope there is a sequel to pick up that secondary storyline of Chris’s birth and what became of it.
3) Rebecca MacTavish: 3/5
The impression I got about Rebecca was that she was more warrior than lady. She followed the beat of a different drum that always connected to her brother Alexander. She appeared outspoken, unafraid and fierce. She was a leader not a follower. During her time being kidnapped I found her weeping surprising. I thought she would be outrageously angry and upset. Then it seemed when she came to know the joys of sex, she became more docile, not completely but more. Which again surprised me. I could not blame her for becoming wanton as it appeared that Chris knew how to please her. She never lost her confidence but it appeared she lost her fierce independence I assume because she acquiesced to loving sex. I do give her credit for being brave enough to explore her sexuality. I rarely come across that in books. I really wanted to like her character; I just feel she needed more development.
4) Chris Ellis 4/5
Chris was definitely more realistic than Rebecca. What puzzled me was what his end goal for him and his men was. He did not talk to his men that he wanted a different life than being a brigand. I found it odd that he wanted his men to be more sophisticated when he himself did not know how the heck it was done. For example, he had everyone, all his men and Rebecca sit and dine together as a family. There was one member of the band who did not want to be domesticated and felt Chris was losing his touch and becoming too soft because of Rebecca. In the end Toby paid the ultimate price for his betrayal of Chris. Overall, I liked Chris’ character even though the story surrounding him was convoluted.
5) Alexander and Emily MacTavish: 5/5
As secondary characters Alexander and Emily were very believable. Alex a devoted husband and brother. A leader of men. A capable estate manager – having to take over Emily’s deceased father’s holdings. He is intelligent, respects his men and has an open mind. Emily is just lovely. She had a very believable pregnancy and delivery. I had to chuckle when she was going through the birthing.
6) Toby: 3/5
He was not a well-developed or well written villain.
7) Bedroom scenes 4/5
The attraction and passion between Chris and Rebecca were HOT. The author just played the sex scenes too often.
Average: 3.7/5
The outcome of the “pistols” at dawn was hilarious. I would have paid to see the looks on both men’s faces- priceless!! Lol. Alex was so full of bravado and sure of himself, and Chris was so surprised and immediately repentant! I liked seeing all the positive changes in Chris as the story progressed. A twist surprise puts a whole different spin on the situation! Secrets, betrayals, and steam!!!
I was glued to my kindle from the very beginning with the well written storyline and the well developed characters! As I turned each and every page I felt like Chris and Rebecca jumped from the pages and pulled me right into their story as it effortlessly unfolded!
This book was very entertaining and had wonderful characters. Chris surprised me as to how thoughtful he was towards a wife he coerced. Loved that Rebecca was so strong and loyal. The storyline was well written and captured me from the very beginning. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
To right what he felt was a wrong Christopher Ellis kidnapped Rebecca MacTavish from Dun Alba. He had to force Rebecca’s brother Alexander’s hand and the only way to do that was use Rebecca as a pawn by marrying her. He wisked her off to Gretna Green to be married but tried to win her love in the mean time. Could he win Rebecca and Dun Alba in the end or would he lose one or both? Would Chris be able to become the man he needed to be and out grow the boy whom Killian had taken under his wing? A definite page turner to the end.
Highlander’s Dark Seduction: Scottish Medieval Highlander Romance Novel (Dark Highlander Tales Book 2), by Fiona Faris. While, book #2 it can be read as a stand alone.
Meet Christopher Ellis, an English brigand and Rebecca MacTavish, who is the feisty sister of Alexander as they journey into danger, drama, murder, suspense, twists and turns, deceit, kidnapping, adventure, betrayal, an evil villain, loyalty, love, and a hot, sexy, chemistry between two characters who will steal your heart.
Well written and well excuted with a cast of characters that are engaging, and compelling. Faced paced, adventurous, captivating and a definite page turner. Ms. Faris has once again written a Scottish Romance that is captivating, with brawn highlanders, and feisty lasses. Another must read by Fiona Faris. Highly recommended!

This had great characters who are complexes, believable and well written. It is a full of action, adventure, a little humor and strong family bonds. Liked seeing how Chris and Rebecca relationship bring about changes in them. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and am giving my honest review.
Mmm…what to say?
I really did like this book but it just seemed inconsistent and was spotty at times. And what’s up with all the unnecessary sex?! The story would have a lot more depth to it if the sex scenes had been cut in half and the emotion had been allowed to come through and be felt by the reader more. Sorry, Fiona, you have always been a favorite of mine to read but this book was not up to your usual standards.
Another good book by Fiona herself. I loved this love story a lot! I can’t wait to read any other book of her again.
Oh goodness! This is my 8th Fiona Faris book and I’m thinking it’s my favorite to date – which is not to say that I haven’t enjoyed the previous reads. This story had so many layers populated by unique and complex characters. All of this author’s characters are so well written, you can see them in your mind and your grow to know them as the story moves along. Subtle humor, lots of heat, a decades old mystery you don’t even realize is a mystery (!) with a surprising outcome and a relationship that develops slowly towards an HEA. All of these make this excellent book well worth reading. I love this one. Highly recommend 🙂
I received an ARC of this book and am providing my review voluntarily.
This author has written an interesting and surprising new story. An English brigand (outlaw) kidnaps a Scottish woman who is an orphan who follows her brother to war. She is sure she will never marry because of her rough upbringing. Lots of twists and turns to keep this story interesting.
