A “don’t read the book by the cover” story has you falling in love with the “barbarian” who has led a difficult life while teaching the “Princess” that Prince Charming isn’t at all what he appears to be.
This book has a sweet love story that develops. You enjoy following the characters discovering their love for each other as they work together to improve their lives.
i loved it
Liked characters and story, but writing was a bit choppy.
Emily was raised in an environment of privileged and sheltered innocence, while Alexander and his sister Rebecca demonstrate their resilience developed after they were orphaned at young ages. Now Emily and Alexander must marry to satisfy King Charles and to cement relations between the English and the Scots. Emily is appalled at the idea of marrying the uncouth Alexander and wishes instead to marry Phillip, a dandy. Phillip causes extreme problems through most of the book. I didn’t much care for Emily as she seemed slow to mature, even with the tutelage and example of Rebecca. This was a so-so book.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved Alexander’s character and how he approached his new relationship. Emily at first came off as very flighty and immature in how she handled difficult situations. As time progressed Emily’s character grew stronger which I enjoyed seeing develop. I also enjoyed how the characters had chemistry but it wasn’t love immediately. I felt this aspect made it much more realistic. I don’t want to give away too much, but I recommend reading this one.
Strong characters intertwined within a really good story.
really enjoyed this book, has a different plot than most
I loved it! I love books with Highlander’s in them.
I just like Highland Romances!
This story is her best yet, the storyline is strong and exciting, the hero and heroine have their difficulties and differences, the bad guy is pure evil and unballenced and all is brought together in an exciting ending. This was an author ARC and I am happy she let me review it
Ms Fiona you outdid yourself this time! This book was more about differences in people . But you’re point was not the one the heroine expected in the beginning of the book. She gave love a chance. There was a lot of twists and turns that kept the readers on our toes or at least awake as a few of us fans read far into the early morning because we couldn’t put it down.
I truly liked the characters and plot of this novel. What distracted me from the storyline were little errors here and there, which I’m sure the author will fix in good time.
I appreciate her hard work and am looking forward to her next book. For 18+.
This book was an easy read. I enjoyed the storyline the flow of the story made it easy to follow. The characters were wonderful except Lord Bristol was a jerk . Though the book was good there were a couple of place where the paragraph was chopped or misaligned. Other than that I loved the book.
This book will grab a hold on you and you will not want to put it down until the end..Fiona has a great passion and it shows in her books…
What a hoot this story was. I loved the insipid heroine Emily for her naivete but found that underneath she was willing to become a better person than she was. She did indeed have prejudices against the Scots as she was English. But getting to know her new husband Alexander was an enlightenment. Towards the end she realized the meaning of true love and that was what she was getting from Alexander. She knows by how she had behaved all along she did not deserve him. But she was determined to prove herself trustworthy to him. Alex was a warrior through and through. There was only one thing that softened his heart and that was his sister Rebecca. They lost their parents when they were young and had to grow up on the streets. They have known hardship their whole life. They always had each other. Now that Alex was married, he made room in his life and heart for Emily. She kept messing up a lot. But I have to say she always strives to help out where she could and was not afraid of hard work. She had a lot of adjusting to do because she lived as a “princess”. Alex was patient and accommodating to her. He did have a temper but he never would physically take it out on any woman. Trust was their problem. It was always one step forward and two steps back. I loved the overall story of Emily and Alex’s romance. How they put up with each other, got angry with each other, how they passionately made up with each other and got to learn more about the other every day. I definitely did not like the villain of the story. Phillip was a slimy sneaky two faced deviant evil murderer. Each time Phillip tried to foil anything and everything Alex was trying to build with Emily he had to become even more deadly and dangerous than ever before. This book kept my attention from page one till the end. The extended epilogue did not tie up some loose ends but I am hopeful the next book will pick up where this one left off. An excellent read and I highly recommend it.
Emily and Alexander’s first meeting starts of very rocky there is prejudice, suspense, drama, kidnapping, danger, two people who have a lot to learn about each other, and romance. I enjoyed reading this book.
I loved how Fiona gave her characters a challenge. Lady Emily Caldwell was raised to do her duty. That meant when her father told her he had picked out the man she was to marry she accepted her fate. Alexander MacTavish was a man without a home but he did have a sister. When he saved her father from death, he decided to wed his daughter to the barbaric Scotsman.
As fate would have it when Emily first saw Alex she believed another to be her intended and fought to wed Phillip Edenhall instead. Would fate save her from the barbarian or lend itself to an even deadlier outcome? Can Emily and Alex triumph and live a happy ever after or will lies and trust win?
Fabulous steamy…reeled me in sitting on the edge of the bed! My emotions where awhirl
I fell for Alexander in a big way, and I love the way he wins! All of the characters are well written, and I can’t wait to read more from this author!
