Another well written book in this great series. She has a lot going on and needs him to help her before it is too late. It is exciting, emotional, suspenseful, dramatic, surprising and so much more. Love this series and can’t wait to read it again. I love this family and each book. They flow so well together. I received a review copy by book sprout and voluntarily review it.
I have been provided with a copy of Highlander’s Courage by the author via Booksprout for an impartial review. This is the twelfth book in The Matheson Brothers series and in this book features Cairstine and Liam. I just loved this story and this wonderful family that I just can’t get enough of. I just loved getting to go along on their journey and I just didn’t want to put it down. It was so easy to get lost in and I highly recommend reading this title. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series and see more of these wonderful characters.

The great character and storyline development made this book a very enjoyable and entertaining read! I look forward to reading more from this author!
Historical paranormal read
I really loved how Ms. Wadsworth weave her story. How she can combine a lot of elements into one, and leave the readers amazed and satisfied. Mystery, romance, historical, paranormal, adventure as well as action-packed plot combined. She put in a very clever approach with this plot, and I have to commend her for it. This series has a lot of books within and this I think is the latest of it, and as usual, its a standalone. The flow is still seamless through it all.

Highlander’s Courage by Joanne Wadsworth is the 12th book in the Maitheson series.
Cairstine is an immortal Fae that can morph into any creature of any size. Liam is a bear shifter and is her fated mate. She won’t marry him, because she feels like there’s something wrong with her self. She’s always drawn to the dark side of things and has a lot of despair.
She’s come across time for him. But will she let him help her?

Cairstine is an immortal dark fae. She’s has an unusual ability. She can morph into any creature. I loved her majestic dragon. He’s formidable as long as Cairstine can control him. The danger with her blood lust is she can hurt/kill innocents or those she loves. I felt her despair. Liam, a bear shifter, is her fated mate. He’s the clan’s doctor as well as a powerful warrior. He loves her and wants to protect her but she’s a stubborn lass. I wanted her to accept the help that was offered. The biggest danger to Cairstine and Clan Matheson is their devious enemy Colin MacKenzie. I didn’t want him to gain the power he desires. This story is a wild emotional ride. Cairstine and Liam are larger than life. Their situation seems hopeless. I wanted them to overcome the odds and find happiness. I just wasn’t sure it was possible. It was nice to see characters from previous books in this series. Joanne Wadsworth has written an emotional story that I couldn’t put down. I loved the new spin on vampires.
A blend of time travel, shifters, fae and Highland adventure all into one fantastic book. I love the story line of this series,
Each story has its own set of twist and turns.
Every character has a set of their own fascinating abilities it all comes together in The Matheson Brothers series.
Stand alone stories but much better read in order.
My free opinion. Thanks.
I love the Matheson series of books. From page one, I was hooked. Ms Wadsworth has a way with words, they sweep you right into her book. It doesn’t matter if its into the past or the present, I truly feel connected to her characters and their setting.
Liam’s character has graced a few of the other books and his character always captured my heart. He’s a handsome, bear-shifting doctor who is always the first to help his clan. His connection to a certain fae is powerful and protective. As their story unfolds, there are many plot twists and I found myself cheering these two on. Thank you for a wonderful book, I’m looking forward to Levi’s story!

A magical, sexy, fun, action packed and emotionally thrilling journey from beginning to end. An engaging tail of two forces of nature so drawn to each other they find each other even in the pitch black darkness. Loved it!
This is interesting, romantic and suspenseful. Liam is determined, protective and amusing. Cairstine is stubborn, impulsive and feisty. Liam and Cairstine find themselves being drawn together often, an easy friendship formed quickly. When they are called to Murdock’s solar they are told of 2 visions that he had. The first told of their being mated to each other. The second told of Cairstine’s capture by their enemy, Colin MacKenzie. Liam demanded they join, but not knowing what the future held for her, Cairstine denied him. One day they were out and realized that they weren’t going to make it back to the keep before the sun, which Cairstine needed to avoid so as not to burn up. She had to burrow underground and wait until nightfall. She worried that she might get so hungry that she turned into a Bloodthirsty, a killer who fed on the blood of innocents. From that point on it was a fight for life for her, and a frustrating battle for him.

Book twelve in The Matheson Brothers series a well written story that held my interest throughout. Cairstine a Fae comes from 1211 into the twenty-first century and meets Liam his clan’s doctor and a warrior shifter. They are mates but will have to go through a lot before they get their happy ending. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Liam, a bear shifter, is the clan’s physician in the 21st Century. Cairstine is a shapeshifter-Fae from the past who can shift into anything regardless of how big or small it is. She lives off of the blood of her immortal sisters to keep humans safe and does not walk in the sunlight. Liam and Cairstine are fated mates who are powerfully drawn to each other.
Cairstine’s problem is that she is afraid that she might be a danger to her friends. There is nothing she wouldn’t do to protect her friends. But something is not quite right with her soul. Liam is hoping to marry her, but she feels she can’t risk it as she is pulled deeper and deeper into the dark side of despair. Even when her relationship grows with Liam and he becomes more protective of her, she tries to push off his help in dealing with an enemy who threatens her. But Liam is determined to be there for his mate.
This is such a clever approach to the love story where the two main characters come from two different times in history to complete their love story. The book combines Fae, shifter, highlander, and time travel into a well done story line with likable characters. Do they have a possible future together? Can he save her from her enemy? Can he resolve her despair? Don’t miss this awesome book!
Great story. I’ve been following the Matheson clan and this is a good addition to the series It does work as a stand-alone with interesting twists to time traveling. I liked the story line and the characters in this one. She comes forward in time. She’s fae and he’s a shifter and they are fated, but it’s never that easy. They each need the other. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC).
The latest installment of the Matheson Brothers series is about Cairstine and Liam. Cairstine has come from ancient times to the present. She’s a shape-shifting fae who relies on the blood of others to stay alive. To keep others safe, she drinks the blood of her immortal sisters to stay alive, afraid of becoming bloodthirsty and causing harm to mortals. Despite her immortality, something is not quite right with her soul. Liam, who is the doctor of the modern-day clan, can sense that she is not well. They turn out to be mates.
Why is immortal Cairstine suffering so? Will they be able to figure out what’s causing it and help her soul heal? What of the continuing problems with the leader of the McKenzies? Will the Matheson clan leader’s vision of Cairstine being imprisoned by Colin McKenzie come true?
If you’ve enjoyed the other books about the Matheson brothers, you will find Liam’s and Cairstine’s story a lovely addition. Cairstine is at time so troubled by what she has to do to survive, and she is fearful of causing harm to others. At times, it appears she cares more about others than herself, even to her detriment. Even though she is immortal, you can sense her vulnerability. It is easy to understand her fears and motivations as the author does a good job describing some events in Cairstine’s past. Liam is a strong hero who will look out for her when she refuses to. I love this couple and their story.

This has fast become my very favorite time travel romance series, the books are always so full of intrigue, romance, magic, shifting, time travel, etc. This one is Liam and Cairstine’s story. Liam is the present day clan doctor and he’s also a bear shifter. Cairstine is from the past and she’s a fae who can shift into whatever creature she wants and she’s also an immortal who only drinks blood from her immortal sisters.
Cairstine and Liam are fated mates and he wants to marry her but she keeps refusing because she’s feeling herself going into the dark fae side and worries that she will hurt him, her family and friends. Liam vows he will help her fight it!!
