This book was exactly what the title says Dash a Scottish romance. It did have some steamy parts in it. I dinged it one star because I found it hard to get into but once I did then I couldn’t put it down. The story picked up and I enjoyed it more.
A Great Read! This is the first book that I’ve read by this author and it was wonderful! It has a good storyline, wonderful characters and passion. You will enjoy the journey of Finlay and Sine!!
This is a wonderful story. The characters are so well matched. The description of the countryside makes you think you are right there. I highly recommend this book.
Typical story line, but characters were enjoyable
It was good but predictable
Good read
short and sweet
At the 25% mark I wanted to stop reading because the h was very immature and uncaring. I went back to read some of the reviews and one reviewer felt like I did. She stated to stay with it because the h did improve. I’ll agree she did improve, but the story didn’t. I wanted more back story told about the h’s parents and why her adopted parents came to have her.
The character’s weren’t written with depth. I didn’t care what happened to them. The story just felt disjointed to me. Some times, it was written in the first person and most of the time it wasn’t.
Something happens to a long time friend of the family. The h knows about it and instead of grieving, goes off and has sex with the H. Because I didn’t feel a connection to this couple or even the story, when they have sex, it was just that. Heat level maybe 2.5 out of 5.
There is an epilogue which didn’t give much away. You had to download the extended epilogue, which I didn’t do. The story ends about 81% mark.
No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, no romance and a tad of spice. (ljb)
This was my first book by Shona Thompson and I was hooked. Great story-line, with characters that come alive. Scenery is real and the story drags you in from the beginning.
Looking forward to another book from Shona.
This book is all I expect of a true romance, and how love can change lives. Wonderful storyline; rebellious daughter and unlikely hero. I look forward to reading more of Shona’s books. Definitely recommend it.
What an exciting book. Very unpredictable and unexpected. A young man with a dark secret past meets a feisty Laird’s daughter. As a result, he became her personal guard. The H was ashamed of his looks. People said he was born of the devil or witch. But that was not true. He avoided people the best he could. But when the Laird assigned him to guard the h there was no hiding. The more time the h/H spent together the more they got to really know each other. It came as a surprise to the H that people did accept him and befriended him. It took the h a while to get him to see that. I liked the h’s character. She was an independent spirit that reached out to her clan and worked with the sick and the poor. She offered coin when she could. When the H saw her in action, he realized she was not the spoiled lass he thought she was. He joined her in her efforts to help the clan. The H was a shy timid man. Never wanting the attention of others. He kept to the shadows. But being around the h opened him up and he gained more confidence in himself than ever before. Eventually the attraction between them was undeniable and they fell in love. But the h’s father had betrothed her to a Laird that the H knew was a monster. He did not know what to do but knew he had to stop the wedding. From the beginning of this story it was a gentle climb to tension, panic, dread and life and death situation. The story unfolded into a strong ending that really surprised me. The extended epilogue gave me the impression there may be a sequel in the works. It had a small cliffhanger. A very good read. I do recommend it.
