bk1 Highland Storm
Hawke- Storm’s son, a excellent fighter and a widower,
Phoebe- daughter of the McNabs Laird. has feuds with the Mckeefes. She is just concerned with healing her father.
I enjoyed reading this Captivating story that is well written with magnificent characters and a intriguing plot. This story has a loving and fun HEA and ending.
I read this story in a book bundle “The Highland Chronicles” I now see why it was named that cleverly so. I also own this on audible and did listen to some/most on audible narrated by Brian J Gill who did a marvelous job! Great job in making each character voice sound distinctive and displays the appropriate emotion and accent.
Elizabeth Rose has outdone herself with this novel that is well-written, filled it with a magnificent cast of characters, a strong plot and great dialogue bring this read together perfectly! Highland Storm will keep you spellbound from the moment you begin the journey with Hawke and Phoebe until the very end. It brings you through turbulent times of clan wars, with all the violence, danger, and heartache in this rollercoaster ride full of twist and turns that will keep you sitting on the edge of your seat! With an evil web of violence, danger, lies and treachery Hawke will fight to keep Phoebe safe. With their passions building in this heart pounding story full of drama, giggles, secrets, action, trials and tribulations and while the suspense builds and tensions escalate with twist and turns abound that makes for one outstanding story! I also enjoyed visiting with old friends and meeting new ones!
Phoebe MacNab and Hawke MacKeef are sworn enemies.

The MacNab’s return to bury their dead clan members at the same time Hawke is there ad attack. Thinking they killed Hawke, the MacNab takes Laird MacKeef,
Unbeknownst to them, Hawke is not dead and grabs Phoebe wanting to exchange her for his grand dad. MacNab’s do not care what happens to Phoebe and they ride off, leaving her in the hands of the enemy.
All Phoebe wants to do is save her ailing father and stop all this blood shed and now she is in the middle of it.
A very exciting enemies to lovers romance
Scotland 1385. “Damn it, canna a man ever get a quiet afternoon to himself?” growled Hawke, surrounded by the men he had killed, paraphased but you get the meaning. Having been ambused, he had taken out the men quickly. He had earned the reputation as one of Clan MacKeefe’s fiercest warriors, following in his father Storm’s footsteps. The men he had killed had been MacNabs, who the MacKeefes had been feuding with forever. He had let one go just so they could tell their clan what happened.
Phoebe MacNab was the lass he let go, although he had not idea it was a woman. In a turn of events, another clash occurs and Hawke ends up wounded and taking Phoebe back to the clan while the enemy has his grandfather.
What a clishmaclaver (love that word) adventure! Plus having the all the MacKeefe’s in the story. Will Phoebe get back to her clan? Will she even want to after spending more time with Hawke? Will the feud continue and will Hawke’s grandfather make it back?
PS Hawke is now my favorite. Just look at that cover!
Great beginning of a new series; the next generation of the MacKeefe clan. Good romance with lots of twists and turns, and good insight into Highland clan life and clashes. I received an ARC of this book.
The King’s Chronicler has come to Clan MacKeefe to record stories and brave deeds. He will not be disappointed. Elizabeth Rose’s new Highland Chronicles Series centers around the second generation of the Madmen MacKeefe. Highland Storm is the first book in the series and tells the story of Storm MacKeefe’s son Hawke and Phoebe MacNab, the MacNab Chieftain’s daughter. A long-standing feud between the clans continues despite attempts to make peace. An attack on Hawke by a group of MacNabs results in Ian (Hawke’s Grandfather) being captured. In return, Hawke takes Phoebe. Ransom or rescue? Is there a way to solve this problem without all out war between the clans?
Hawke and Phoebe are terrific characters. They complement each other perfectly, and the chemistry between them is strong. Hawke is honorable, brave, and loyal. He is constantly trying to prove himself. Phoebe is feisty, independent, determined, and caring. She is desperate to find the means with which to heal her father’s illness. They both want the feud to end. The story is full of action, adventure, danger, betrayal, twists, turns, and surprises. There is also a good dose of humor, provided in large part by Hawke’s friends Ethan, Logan, and especially Caleb. A page-turner, Highland Storm is an exciting story and a great start to the series.
Highland Storm by Elizabeth Rose is the beginning of a new series, “Highland Chronicles”, what a great beginning!
Follow, Hawke MacKeefe and Phoebe MacNab on a journey of enemies to lovers in this Highland Romance.

Book 1 of the Highland Chronicles series brings us a whole new generation of the MacKeefe clan. This is the story of Hawke MacKeefe, second son of the MacKeefe Clan Laird, and Phoebe MacNab, eldest daughter of the MacNab Clan Laird. There’s lots of history and bad blood between the two enemy clans, and I just loved the honorable, brave Hawke, along with his friends – Logan, Ethan, and Caleb – and couldn’t help but love feisty, brave Phoebe, who was betrayed by a couple of her own clansmen. Both Hawke and Phoebe need the other to accomplish something very important to their clans, which brings them closer together. I can’t say enough about the story and the characters. It was such a page-turner, and I am very much looking forward to reading the books to come in the series. I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily wrote this review.
Review of Highland Storm-Elizabeth Rose
I got an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Truthfully there aren’t many of Ms. Rose’s books that I don’t like and this one isn’t one of them. I loved Hawke’s and Phoebe’s story from beginning to end. Phoebe is such a strong female character, which is indicative of all Ms. Rose’s characters but more so Phoebe because of her fierce and independent spirit despite overwhelming odds. She sometimes works at cross purposes with Hawke in order to achieve her goals rather than work together. There was a lot of chemistry between Phoebe andHawke which I definitely liked as well as the many elements of danger and adventure
There were many suspenseful moments in this story which added to it’s appeal. Hawke definitely deserved a place in the Chronicles alongside the other Madmen Mackeef.
Awesome Original story that has Patience a prisoner of Hawke, son of the Highland Storm.
He must keep her to trade for his grandfather and even though she is the enemy, he can’t help but notice how pretty she is and how when helps him when he is injured.
A wonderful timeline and suspenseful tale that will keep you interested, and you won’t want to put it down.
Hawke MacKeefe is from a long line of Highland warriors, but getting ambushed by four enemies when he is on his own is no fun.
Phoebe MacNab should never have asked to go hunting for herbs in such a dangerous area. Now she is responsible for too many deaths.
The MacKeefes and the MacNabs have been enemies for generations. The last attempt at a treaty ended in the death of an innocent woman. Nobody wants to start a full scale war.
For a second son our hero takes a lot of responsiblity on his shoulders. The stories of his and his friend’s families are hard to live up to and it’s in all of their natures to try to be better than their fathers.
Our heroine knows all about the troubles but has only the health of her father on her mind. There is a lot going on in her own clan that she has no idea about. That could cost her and those she loves their lives.
There are battles and giggles in this story and some marvelous characters.
This is a completely new series but it links to a previous one. You will enjoy it on it’s own but it will tempt you to read the others. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series.
I loved it.
Start of a new series about a new generation of MacKeefe’s. Hawke is a mighty warrior but when he takes Phoebe MacNab prisoner he has no idea how enticing but troublesome she will be as he attempts to rescue his grandfather from the MacNab stronghold. Phoebe starts off hating Hawke for the death of her cousin and other kinsmen but later gets to see a softer side to this hardened warrior, tearing her loyalties in two.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I couldn’t finish this book. The hero and friends seemed so immature.
this book, has a little of everything, love to your enemy for the sake of peace, death of that bride, that starts the war again, attack by your enemy, death on both sides, capture of hawke grandfather by the MacNab’ and hawke captured Phoebe MacNab to get his grandfather back, but things dont go as planned and will there be new love to get peace again, will Hawke grandfather come out of this alive will Phoebe side with her soldiers for their attack on a single enemy 4 to 1, what will happen, or will there be another bloody war, this story also has a shocking ending and its is a must read,
This is a new Highland Series by Elizabeth Rose. This story centers around Hawke, the well-known son of the respected laird Storm MacKeefe. Life becomes hectic around the castle when the King’s Chronicler arrives to write down the heroic acts of the MacKeefe Clan. But getting written into the Highland Chronicles is not an easy task. Storm decides that he is going to step out of the shadows of his great-grandfather, grandfather and father but will anyone outshine their heroic acts? Great Grandfather is almost 100 and says he owes it to Mountain Magic; that is a strong Highland Whiskey. And so, it goes each one trying to out do the other. A hunting trip turns into a raging battle, leaving Hawke left for dead and his grandfather taken hostage. They were attacked by their enemies, the MacNab’s. Hawke manages to capture Phoebe MacNab the laird’s daughter as a prisoner. Elizabeth has provided us with an interesting plot, endearing characters, and a splash to humor to help us to keep turning the pages.
From the first chapter, I knew I was on my way back to a family I had fallen in love with. This new generation of the Madmen MacKeffes felt challenged to be even better with much ‘larger’ stories than their dads and grandfathers. Thus began Hawke’s story…a story of trying too hard, making mistakes, showing strength in adversity, honor and most of all, love. At first he was ruled by his strength but with an impetuous nature. While hunting, he had been ambushed by four MacNabs and had killed all of them, He noticed one escaping, but decided to let him go When he returned to bury his enemies at his father’s command, he was met by the MacNabs who had come to take their dead home. They battled and he was seriously injured while his grandfather was taken hostage. During this fight, he met Phoebe MacNab who was trying to pick his pockets as all the MacNabs were ordered to do of their enemies. Phoebe MacNab was strong, rode like the wind, was a healer and had a heart of gold. This story is all about learning how to live your best life in your own skin and how to overcome all things in the name of love, even your enemy. During the story, I got to briefly revisit Onyx and the rest of the Madmen MacKeefes as they had matured and had become fathers and grandfathers. Hawke, indeed had large shoes to fill and he did a wonderful job of it. Elizabeth Rose can tell a story like no one else. I loved, loved it.
I had already pre-ordered this book but did receive a free advanced copy to read and give my honest opinion. I loved it.
