I enjoy reading this engaging story that is well written with lovable characters and an intriguing with a twist. Loved the ending/Epilogue. Their story has a complete and wining hea!
Oh my gosh this is my first time reading an Elizabeth Rose story. What a wonderful author she is! It definitely won’t be my last! Unfortunately for me I didn’t read the first books in the series but I’m soon to remedy that.
I loved the book! The characters were fascinating and delightful (pets included). The storyline which was filled with an adventure and mystery was original and interesting. I was captivated by Caleb and his love for Bridget which led to many humorous antics. This was such a fun read with laughable moments.
Thank you Elizabeth for such a sweet love story!
Bridget Olgilvy is the daughter of the “Highland Chronicler”. He has been tasked by the King to write the history of the Clans. Everyone wants their brave deeds entered in that book. Unfortunately she has been writing the stories since her father has been ill. If the King finds out a woman is writing them, there could be dire punishment.
Caleb MacKeefe is jealous that his whole family have been written about but not him. Just because he’s not a huge warrior like some of them, he has his own talents. The family even tease him about his pet. The delightful Slink.
Never under estimate the little guy.
The games, Leader of the Lairds is underway, in the presence of the King and something strange is happening.
Who is responsible and can they be found before someone is killed?
An exciting story with non-stop action and fabulous characters. If you have read any of the other books in the series you will recognize most of the families involved but you can still enjoy this book on it’s own.
Great fun.
Humor and mirth, along with mystery, romance and surprises make this a great read. The author, Elizabeth Rose, has it all and more in her latest book, The Highland Spy.
Caleb Mac Keefe has been in love with Bridget Ogilvy since he first laid eyes on her a few years ago. ALSO, he wanted to be written about in the Highland Chronicles since his three other best friends had their stories. Now he gets a chance to court her and persuade her father to write about him when he and his weasel….ops, pine martin, get to escort her and her father to Hermitage Castle.
You have to read this book to find out the rest of the story, but believe me you’ll laugh and really enjoy this story.
Caleb MacKeefe wants two things from the King’s Chronicler. He wants to be included in the Chronicle with the rest of the Mackeefes, and he want Bridget, the Chronicles daughter, to take notice of him (he has a crush on her since they met). He hasn’t had much luck with either. When he is chosen to escort the Chronicler and Bridget to the Leader of the Lairds games at Hermitage Castle, he hopes to get to know her better. Things don’t work out as he hoped. Getting close to Bridget proves harder than he thought. He is convinced she is keeping secrets. Before he can make any progress on that front, he is tasked by the king to determine if the games are being sabotaged, and if so, by whom. How the king decided Caleb was the man for the job is laugh-out-loud funny. How does this all turn out? What secrets does Bridget hide? What is really going on at the games?
Stories about the MacKeefe Clan are always interesting and entertaining. Caleb’s story does not disappoint. Caleb wants to prove himself to the clan, and to Bridget. She has a lot to worry about. All the MacKeefes are here and all the pets. Poor Slink, a Pine Marten just can’t catch a break. The story is filled with action, adventure, danger, all kinds of secrets. There is also Mountain Magic and a good bit of humor as always when the MacKeefe’s gather. This is a good one. I enjoyed recommend it.
I received an ARC of this book. My review is voluntary.
The last book of the series, this one was just as good as the rest. Caleb has been trying to attract to attract the attention of the daughter of the king’s chronicler, Bridget, to no avail. But when he is chosen to escort her and her father to the Scottish Games, romance takes a back seat to finding out who is sabotaging the games and dangerous secrets are revealed. Lots of good intrigue and surprises. I received an ARC of this book
Scotland 1386
In the opening we find four men, who were sons of the greatest MacKeefe warriors going on about Caleb and his pesky weasel Slink.. Wait, make that a pine marten! If you have not read the other 3 in this series that is fine, but you are missing some great stories of these and their “pets”, more like guards! Very humorous between these four!
Caleb is the last of the four unwed and that has not made it into the Highland Chronicles. A history that list those that have done heroic acts and the focus of Caleb’s interest.
What nobody knows is that Bridget’s father is no longer able to complete the work and she does it for him..
Caleb escorts her and her father on a journey and there is no telling what will happen! Love Elizabeth Rose and her humor and strong male characters with a little suspense thrown in. It doesn’t get much better!
A great addition to the series. Caleb is always the brunt of his friends jokes based on his stature which is smaller than the rest. He has had his eye on Bridget who is the chronicalers daughter. But Bridget has two secrets and if they are found out could cause her quite a few problems. Even though she pushed him away she can’t help but fall for Caleb’s kisses. But when he finds out her secrets she could lose the man she loves. Also due to some dangerous spying Caleb must do causes a challenge with an enemy hiding just out of reach. I received a complimentary copy and this review is voluntary.
Caleb MacKeefe has been trying to get the king’s chronicler to include him in the Highland Chronicler, but he doesnt realize that Bridget Ogilvy is really the one recording everything, no;t her father , this is a secret that can not get out. What will happen to Bridget and her father if the king realize what is going on, and how is she going to deal with Caleb, who is trying to get her to like him. Caleb and Bridget lead me onto a adventure that is always leaving me wondering what is going to happen next. this is a great story I received this as a arc for an honest review,
Last in Series.
The Chronicler’s daughter has secrets, ones that could affect her life and liberty and the last person she wants to know them is Caleb MacKeefe. Unfortunately Caleb has feelings for her that means he watches her closely and though Bridget knows there is no future for them, she can’t help being flattered. A good romance with secrets, saboteurs and villains. A recommended read.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Caleb MacKeefe has a crush on the kings chronicler’s daughter Bridget, since the day he met her.
Bridget has been keeping a secret that could destroy her life and her father’s.
Ever since Caleb’s friends all have been mentioned in the Highland Chronicles, he also wants his name to be in it.
After discovering Bridget’s hidden secret, he makes a deal with her. Caleb agrees not to divulge her secret that she has been writing the chronicles instead of her father. In return for his silence, she must write Caleb in her recent chronicle.
Will Caleb finally get what he has been dreaming about.
