A wickedly naughty 1920s romance, for fans of Downton Abbey.Banished to her grandmother’s castle in the Highlands of Scotland for refusing to marry her mother’s choice of suitor, defiant debutante Lady Ophelia soon falls in love with the wildly unsuitable Hamish! To Ophelia’s annoyance, he’s already spoken for, and glamorous French coquette Felicité has no intention of letting the ruggedly … letting the ruggedly attractive estate manager slip from the service of her bed.
Intrigue abounds, as Ophelia discovers that there’s more to her rival than meets the eye, and that the Castle is a hotbed of illicit cavorting.

Lovingly quirky. Honestly sexy.
I enjoyed this book. It was an easy read (for me a must during stroke recovery) and the story flowed along.
The reader usually reads about the old Scotland. This book has a newer plot in the the early 1900s. I still like the English woman falling for the rugged Scot!
I really didn’t care for it.
Got too bored to finish
Don’t bother
Was not what I thought it was, hero was with another till last four pages of book. Wouldn’t reread
Not that good. Others of this type are better.
Couldn’t get into it
Quick read with some interesting characters and it gives a view of upper class England in the late 20s and 30s.
An amusing romp.
Enjoyable light romance. Characters well fleshed out.
This unusual romance read is set in 1928 in the Scottish HIghlands. As I am not familiar with the time period and local, I can only say that the book seems historically authentic, and the plot seems plausible. However, the story has some pacing problems, bogging down in places where it should move more quickly, and conversely cutting short narratives that could have made the main characters more engaging. In addition, though the characters seem realistic, they all seem to be emotionally distant from the reader.
I think the characters made this book. It was a quick beach read and a little different in that some of the main characters had flaws, but you still liked them and wanted a happy ending for them.
This book was not my cup of tea. I reluctantly finished it. Others may find it a better read.
I thought it would be more interesting, I didn’t find the writing to be that good.
Fun read.
A somewhat predictable story about a young British woman who has finished college in the 1920s after women have been granted the right to vote. After her launch as a debutante into London Society, she searches for a way to make her own choices and keep her independence as she ponders marriage.
very enjoyable pastime reading!
After reading two chapters I was not drawn into the story. The characters were shallow. I kept looking for the story line to improve but it did not. Perhaps I gave up too soon. I borrowed this book to read and returned it to borrow another, since this one was a disappointment.
