Two strangers, one outrageous proposal, and the journey of a lifetime. He offers her a small fortune to drive him to Scotland. Harry McLeod is persistent, and Hope needs the cash. But what are the real terms of this outrageous deal?A random accident as a teenager wrecked Hope Shepherd’s aspirations to be an international athlete. Now working as a taxi driver, Hope is unsettled by a sexy Canadian … Canadian she picks up at the airport. With his good looks and easy charm, he’s just the sort of man she can do without. But can she afford to turn down his offer?
Harry McLeod wants to go to the Highlands, to the Isle of Skye where he hopes to discover his ancestral roots. Harry desires Hope, and the attraction is shared. If he can get her in his bed—or better still, tied to it—will she allow him to peel away her protective layers to release her inner submissive? Harry is stern, uncompromising, outrageously sexy and utterly irresistible. How will Hope respond to his dark brand of sensuality? Does he offer more than a generous fare and a few erotic encounters?
When they reach Skye, a feud spanning four generations challenges all that Hope thought she was coming to know about submission. Will it be enough to convince her that this could be a relationship to stand the test of time?
This book was previously published under the title Red Skye at Night. Readers who have already enjoyed that title might prefer to skip this version as it is not substantially different, and go straight to the stunning, all new sequel, Above and Beyond

The Skye Duet, Book 1. Karma may be a…but can it control everything? Is there another way?
My past nearly destroyed me. But I’m Hope Shepherd. No one and nothing controls me! Being a taxi driver may not be the swankiest job in the world, but I’m my own boss. And I choose my fares—or do I? When I lay eyes on him, NO! Anyone but him. But all Harry McLeod needs is a short ride to a hotel. I can be back at the airport, grab another fare before the night’s over, right? Only, what? He wants to go WHERE? Scotland! He’s nuts! As I said, NO ONE, especially a total stranger, tells me what to do. How is it possible I say yes? Harry’s the personification of forbidden charm. Now who’s nuts? But is he really going to explore his family history or…? All too soon what he wants is transparently clear. But…but…but—wait! I can’t want this too! Then, out of nowhere, comes the reckoning. It’s not just Harry and me anymore. The past comes calling with the power to destroy—and I mean everything! Fate’s a cruel mistress, and it seems karma’s finally about to demand its due. Can I do anything? More importantly, can Harry? There are more lives at stake than just ours. When the final reckoning comes, who’s going to pay?
I love Hope and Harry. These two couldn’t be more different. Hope’s past made her a loner, independent, a driven woman. No one, especially a man, is going to tell her what to do. Harry’s sex on a stick but so what? She’s no pushover, and she’s NOT going to be any man’s conquest. But does she truly know who she is or what she wants? She’s pushed everything down so deep inside. And Harry? He may look like every woman’s dream but is he? He has his own demons, even if he’s not aware of them. Despite them, he sees past Hope’s exterior to what’s inside, even if she can’t. The attraction between them is magnetic, almost magical. But is attraction, no matter how strong, ever enough? This story goes so far beyond just Hope and Harry. The past collides with the present and has the power to derail everything for everyone. Everything Harry thought he knew about his family comes crashing down around his head in a second. And where does that leave Hope? I always love Ashe Barker’s books. She has the ability to weave a complex tapestry of mystery, sexy romance, and gorgeous, detailed scenarios into a story that holds you captive. Obviously, I loved Hope and Harry. But without the amazingly detailed and breathtaking descriptions of the Scotland highlands this book wouldn’t be as wonderful as it is. And, with Ms. Barker, there’s always a “gotcha” moment. This one’s a doozy! No one could be prepared for this book’s ending. Thank you, Ms. Barker! As always, this book is awesome, and I adored it!
A final note. This is an ADULT book. It contains explicit language and BDSM sexual scenes. If you don’t enjoy this genre, this may not be the book for you. Wow!
A well plotted story, believable characters, beautifully described scenery, a true representation of BDSM, and the occasional twist in the tale….all made for an engrossing read.
I enjoyed the book, despite the odd discomfort I felt on Hope’s behalf….Harry is a true Dom!
I can’t wait to read the sequel!
Highland Odyssey is the first book in the Skye Duet. Hope is a taxi driver and during a normal drive from the airport to his hotel, Harry offers Hope a chance of a lifetime. He needs a driver to go up into Scotland to visit old family grounds, and he’s determined that Hope will be that driver. The long drive brings the two of them together in ways she never expected, giving her submission, learning all about Harry’s dominance and family, and both of them falling in love. But towards the end of the trip, they run into some surprises, and Hope isn’t sure where she stands. At the end, will they separate or will they find a way to stay together?
Wow! This book is intense, emotional, really hot, and I loved reading it! Hope and Harry are perfect for each other. They provide what each other needs, they open up the other in areas they didn’t even know needed help, and they give each other emotional support and love. Hope was amazing to read because she was so honest in what she felt and in her responses to Harry, and I loved just how kind and perceptive she was to and about others. Harry was caring, dominant, up for adventure, driven, and definitely willing to fight for what he wanted and loved. It was fun to read about how their relationship slowly evolved from a more superficial thing into something so much more real and intense and deep. I’m definitely warning you – there are a lot of physically intimate scenes, most with BDSM feels, and at times it was almost distracting from the storyline, but I loved that each scene just deepened the relationship between Hope and Harry. This book was fascinating, I was completely hooked, and I loved the ending! I look forward to the second book in the duet!
