If you love Scottish historical romance and a story that will keep you up all night, Highland Lies should be the next book in your TBR pile (and I mean to read, not to simply add). This fast paced tale is beautiful told and full of twists and turns – you’re going to love it!
Another great book from Keira. The Band of Cousins are out to rescue children who taken for sex slavery and they are trying to save as many as possible. Roddy was with his cousin Connor to check around an area where Roddy saw this girl on a rocky cliff and he thought she was going to jump but he couldn’t catch her before she disappeared. Rose was kept in hiding by her mother because she was telling everyone she was a deaf mute. There is a lot going on in this book with secrets, births and lots of happiness.
All of Keira Montclair’s books are wonderful. Great reads, always things to overcome, and she finds a realistic way to do that for her characters.

A love story of Roddy Grant and Rose MacDole Her dad had died a few years ago but her mom was still alive. Rose could not hear or speak. She was at a definite disadvantage. Her mother was quite cruel, one instance is where she told Rose since she had kissed a boy she would bleed until God forgave her. Another was when she took Rose to a Convent and told her she would stay there until she stopped.
Roddy was a cousin and he and some of his other cousins were looking into girls disappearing. They had heard the girls had been sold into slavery or? He saw Rose the first time standing on the cliffs by her castle. She had run from him because her mother had told her to. She had been isolated all her life because of the roughness of the sea and that is what her mom wanted.
I was unable to put this book down. It was so good and kept my attention. It was well written, fast-moving and a good mix of twists and turns. The characters were strong and endearing. An all-around excellent Novel.
I received this ARC from the author and voluntarily reviewed this.
I loved this book.
I read all of Keira Montclair’s books. They are all excellent. Love them!! You can read as a standalone or follow the series as characters are followed through her stories, which is what I love the best about her books.
Love this book in the series of the Grant Clan! It seemed to take a bit to get going, but it managed to weave a bit of fantasy into the highland family and the mysteries surrounding a bunch evil minded people stealing young women and selling them.
I love the “Band of Cousins” series. It isn’t often you get to find out what happens to the children of your favorite characters. It’s fun to see this generation making their own way at the same time paying respect to their family names. This is the fourth installment and while each story stands by itself I think these are more enjoyable when you read them in sequence. If you haven’t read the others, I certainly wouldn’t let that stop you from enjoying this one.
U love this series. It has great heros and strong women.
Scotland, the Highlands 1284 I was captured on the first page and it held me to the end. An emotional story that portrays the essence of living with a disability and the struggle to be normal. When warrior Roddy Grant first saw her, it appeared she was about to jump off a cliff! Rose MacDole was wandering the cliffs, glad to be alone when she heard him call to her so she ran back to the castle. Even since her father passed, her mother had presented her to everyone as deaf and dumb. But Rose could hear perfectly, she just could not talk. Roddy was part of The Band of Cousins who rescued children from the sex trade and they were in the area to see what they could find. But as he meets Rose, he is stunned by her beauty and feels sad she cannot hear or speak. He has his own struggles that almost take him down. Keira Montclair has a gift of bringing the characters and surroundings alive and makes you feel tied to the characters. There was so much to this tale that will tug at your heart and you cannot help but love Roddy and Rose!! Although part of a series this can be read as a standalone. But as I always say, why would you want to miss the other books in this series?
Highland Lies by Keira Montclair
The Band of Cousins Series Book Four
Rodric “Roddy” Grant is a nephew of the great Alexander Grant, Laird of Clan Grant, and yet, here he is having nightmares and fearing he is no longer worthy to be a Grant warrior. This sends him to the past to find out what’s causing his nightmares. Especially since he’s met the beautiful, although mute, Rose.
Rose MacDole has learned to be a dutiful daughter to her one living parent. Her mother’s moods change like the weather. And how she misses her father. She’d known he loved her. Her mother, not so much.
When the Band of Cousins are led to Castle MacDole and Sona Abbey, Roddy and Connor both have an uneasy feeling. When things turn…mystical…they know trouble is coming. I love all the Grant and Ramsay stories in all the series. Keira Montclair does a fantastic job of bringing characters back into the story again…even if for short visits…and I really enjoy that too.

I have loved the Grant/Ramsay Clans from the beginning & the Bank of Cousins is leading the next generation in to wonderful stories. This book was so touching, emotional, noble & the addition of Rose & Roddy as a couple is lovely. Grant heir. The epilogue was the best ever (I won’t tell – you need to read it) & I loved the updates on past beloved characters. You will love this series & this book is so outstanding – a great book by a great author, Keira Montclair!
