I am really enjoying this series! And this book was probably my favorite of the series so far. There are so many facets to Caden, he tries so hard to seem like he doesn’t care. But his weakness is Maggie. And the way he cares for her, sometimes without her even knowing, really shows the measure of this dragonkine!
Maggie is out for vengeance and little does she know the vengeance she wants could destroy the one “man” she has come to care more for than anyone else in her life. Highland Hope is a perfect blend of angst and hope and so much more! A fantastic read!!!
This is the 4th book of the Guardians of Scotland. It’s the story of Maggie (a human) and Caden (a White Dragon). Both have tragic pasts. Maggie has nightmares of the horror she suffered as a chambermaid and wants vengeance. Caden, is a bastard son who was exiled from his family and had a hard life. He gives the impression he doesn’t care about anything or anyone, but he does care, especially for Maggie. There is evil coming and the Dragonkine and humans have to prepare themselves of what is to come.
What an enthralling tale of medieval Scotland, the Dragonkine Warriors and Guardians, and their human mates and friends. There’s sadness, hope, magic, action, courage and newfound love. Highly recommend this e-book and anxiously awaiting the next one!
5 out of 5 stars
Welcome back to Scotland and Caden and Maggies story . Caden Ross has been a loner for a long time . Until the day he held Maggie in his arms and got her safety . He hasn’t been able to walk away from young woman . He is there in the night when he heals her nightmares and is there in the daylight to be beside her and keep her safe . She has a mission to kill a dragon to maybe easy the wounds of what happened in her past. So Caden has to hide his true nature from Maggie . With the Dragon king awake and the death dragons getting closer and closer . Will they be able to keep each other safe and will Maggie over come her fear to love the man that is also the dragon that has her heart .
I must say that the author really out did herself with these characters . I love all the characters in this series but Caden and Maggie have a soft spot in my heart . Maggie is such a sweet girl you will fall in love with her . She is carrying some very heavy scars though both physcially and emotionally . She is sweet and sassy and doesn’t take any guff from anyone especially Caden. She hates him or does she, and it is fun watching her come to terms with her feelings . Caden is well lets just say wow , he is strong and sexy and oh so cocky . He is trying to come to terms with what it is like to have a family dynamic around him. He also is fighting feeling for Maggie , he thinks he doesn’t deserve her and wants to leave but he can’t . He is a great warrior and somewhat of a cad . You will love him and you will want him to get together with Maggie so much . They are wonderful characters an deserve happiness that only they can have . Conell , James and the rest of the clan are back to help Caden and Maggie realize that they belong together .
I settled down and read this book in an evening . The characters are well written and complex. The author takes us on an adventure of epic proportions . There are dragons, evil entities , a mystery and oh so much romance . I love the dragons in this series they are all steeped in history and make for such good reading . The author blends history and the lore of dragons flawlessly . I read this book in about 3 hrs . I couldn’t put it down I was sucked in by the end of chapter one . If you want a great story that will have you laughing and crying and laughing again this is the series for you . Check it out.
Dragons aren’t always the bad guys. Maggie has had a bad experience with a dragon and is out to get them all. Little does she know that Caden has been protecting her with his dragon magic. How will they come to terms with the electricity between them once she finds out what he is? Will Drest and his death dragons take down the whole kingdom and how will they combat them? No one has survived taking on the death dragons. If you like dragons, this series is a must!
The Dragonkine Guardians are back and Drest has risen and taken James Douglas prisoner and set the Death Dragons free. They have been seen near Ravenloch, Caden’s home, he wars with whether to go or not as his father disowned him because he’s Dragon but the love he has for the rest of his family and clan outweighs the dissension between him and his father and he sets off to warn them not knowing he has a stow away on his cart.
Maggie was rescued from Caerlaverock castle and brought to Black Stone by Caden, she has nightmares and scars from that time and is adamant that she wants to kill a Dragon and when she learns Caden is leaving, she steals away so she can go find them, not knowing that caden is one and that through his magic, has been protecting her.
Meanwhile, some Hatchlings and Niven, Laird Douglas’s son have gone missing on their unknown quest to rescue James, and a new weapon to help defeat Drest may have been found.
Exitement, action, secrets, and magic are back in this long awaited book, now all I want is the next one, and hope I don’t have to wait too long.
I received a copy and I am voluntarily leaving my own honest opinion
The story of Caden and Maggie was a short but entertaining novella. The characters were interesting. There was some steam but not very descriptive. I think you will like the characters and their interactions. I recommend this book.
