Book Two of the Highland Heartbeats Series!
A Rebel’’s Desire
Some secrets are hard to keep…
Jake Duncan promised Heather MacDonald he’d keep her secret. He’d help her train to be a warrior and all she had to do was give him a kiss. He didn’t promise that she wouldn’t feel the stirrings of desire for this former soldier.
For Heather, a woman determined to become a warrior, Jake’s promise means the difference between life and death.
Wounded at war, then the target of a malicious healer, Jake Duncan, brother of the Highland Laird, has decided he has to prove himself, over and over again. He never thought that part of his journey would involve falling for the woman from the Lowlands who wasn’t as demure or as shy as he originally thought, especially not when she was wielding a dirk.

It was a very romantic book without introducing descriptions of a sex act or even premarital sex.
If you enjoy reading about how the family all found their matches this is a great set.
These books were quick to read and a good flow between t stories. They are romantic and for me the most important thing is that they were “clean”.
These three books contain three love stories: Phillip and Sarah, Jake and Heather, and Maccay and Alis. Phillip and Sarah’s romance begins with a kidnapping when Phillip needs a healer to save his brother Jake’s life. Jake and Heather’s romance starts because Heather wants to learn to fight to defend herself, and she’s caught sneaking out after midnight for sword practice. Maccay finds Alis near death in the woods while he’s out on patrol, but she’s lost her memory. While all three books have the ups and downs you expect in a romance, the books are cleverly plotted and contain wonderful characters.
Just introduced to this author. Very impressed
enjoyabe as it was a set & followed each other. thank you
Predictable ending on all these romances but fun to read and relax. Descriptive passages make reader feel like they are part of the story.
Read all three. Now on to Hugh’s Story!
I have enjoyed this book to the max. I was not able to put it down. Love the characters and the romantic flow.
Three charming novels that linger in the memory long after reading! Three very different stories with similar, happy endings!
This was a good series. However, there were several errors: repeat sentences, character went from blond to black hair, etc.
Kind of slow moving plot. I jumped to the end and did not finish the whole book
I’ve read all of her books and enjoy the clean romance stories that are wonderfully written.
I really enjoyed this set of books. I love all Highlander book so far these are really captivating and I enjoyed the characters immensely great job
I thought the plot was great. The engaging between the characters was great.
Just loved the whole series. Read it in a week. Wonderful!
Historical Scottish romance
I had read them before but were better the second time
Enjoyed this set of books. I read for the romance and the action. I don’t care for a lot of history. This satisfied my reading needs. I really liked the characters.
I give this set of highland romances three out of five stars.
The three books in this set are each good stories related because they take place within one Scotts clan. There’s an over abundance of glowering, foolish behavior, and some miscommunication all around. There are also grammar errors an editor should have caught. Minus one star.
Because it’s a personal peeve of mine, I deducted one star for the consistent use of phrases telling readers about throbbing and pulsing veins. The author must have skipped health and science classes when elementary through high school teachers tried to teach her that blood in veins oozes and throbbing and pulsing takes place only in arteries! Bulging veins? Yes. Throbbing in time to the heart,.. NO!
