When Kenneth Mackay, long-banished rogue and thief, returns to the Mackay holding at the request of his brother, he has no idea what he might find. He certainly doesn’t expect to be confronted with his twin’s imminent death, or with the plan his brother has concocted. Ten years before, Malcolm made a tragic mistake, and, to preserve the family name—and his own skin—he allowed Kenneth to take the … to take the fall. Now that he is dying without an heir, Malcolm plans to atone for his mistake: by giving Kenneth his life back. All Kenneth has to do is assume his brother’s identity. But complicating matters is the unexpected return of Lady Isobel Mackay, the daughter of an English marquess and the wife Malcolm didn’t want.
Isobel barely knows the husband who abandoned her even before their marriage, and she’d long since given up on having a real marriage with him. Yet when she returns to the Mackay holding far earlier than expected, she finds her husband a changed man. Despite the hurt between them, Isobel’s heart responds to this man who cares for his entire clan as if they were family. Who, for the first time, cares for her as if she is, too.
Falling in love with her husband had never been part of Isobel’s plan. But when their future is suddenly in peril, Isobel must find a way to save him—from himself and from the deception threatening to tear them apart.

I enjoyed this book. Looking forward to reading another by this author.
Highland Deception was an interesting and enjoyable read. The book was well written with an unusual storyline of switched identity and redemption.
I enjoyed this romantic novel about highland clans. It is a page turner that kept me interested. I liked the characters and plot. The characters were easy to identify with and very believable.
Excellent book & story! Had me captivated from start to finish. I loved the characters & how their story evolved. It was a feel good/happy ever after book that I loved & would recommend.
Lots of unexpected twists and turns to keep you reading until the end
Really enjoy reading about the history of Ireland and Scotland and what had to be overcome.
Good concept but sometimes difficult to follow,
Good characters but tooooo much sex.
It was formulaic but fun.
Well developed characters and interesting twists to the plot. A good read for historical romance fans.
I loved the characters. The hero won everyone one over with his compassion and good character. The plot twists held my interest until the last page.
I was pulled from the first chapter, wanted to know what would happen next. I will look for more books by this Author
This book got off to a slow start for me but picked up when wife Lady Isobel returned to the highlands. Kenneth, as Malcolm, is drawn to her but she enforces their agreement although she is also drawn to him as well. They make peace with each other but trouble finds them in Edinburgh. When “Kenneth” is arrested, Isobel is the only one who can …
I enjoyed reading the book, even if it’s not entirely believable. Even identical twins are not completely duplicative of each other. There are always just a little difference that clues people in which twin they are, most especially among people close to them, like their parents, or their significant others.
More frustrating is that the …
I enjoyed the wonderful characters and the original story line. The plot turns kept me interested. The origin of the brothers division was a bit vague but it was a good read with my happily ever after ending
