‘Highest of Stakes’ is the third book in Laura Greenwood’s “Garimalkin Academy: Stakes Trilogy and she’s given us an ending that just well done. The Hunters Guild has been taken down so anyone wanting a peaceful life is able to do so without repercussions. Ravi, Lily’s ex-partner had been imprisoned but escaped. Now he’s put Lily at the head of his list for retaliation. In his sadistic mind Lily died intentionally so this is extremely personal. Lily, in the meantime, has gained a Seer’s power but has no control over it yet. Her plan is to be the bait needed to catch him. Bryce hates the plan. I thoroughly enjoyed this whirlwind of emotion, tension, and suspense as Lily finds a way to put away her past.

The third and final book to this trilogy has Lily facing off against her old enemy and at the same time coming to terms with what she may now become. I liked how she was able to finally put an end to Ravi and achieve her HEA with Bryce but I felt the final confrontation lack the punch and pizzazz that the storyline had been building up to. The trilogy was still good though and very enjoyable.

Our heroine is isolated and unsure of who to trust. But she has to figure it out quickly if she is going to face the final challenge.
This is book three, and the finale, of this series set at the author’s paranormal academy. I recommend starting at the beginning of the series.
This is a paranormal academy romance story. Like all of the other stories I have read by this author, it is well written and easy to read. The academy setting is familiar to some of us, but new readers need not fear. The setting is described in nice detail so you will understand all the essentials pretty quickly. The characters are well developed and diverse, with many different types of paranormals included (as well as the usual academy stereotypes). The story moves along pretty quickly and provides a nice conclusion to the series. Overall, it has been an enjoyable series and I look forward to seeing what our author comes up with next.
Highly recommended.

The Hunter’s Guild has been taken down, but Lily can’t really rest yet. She hasn’t mastered her Seer power but visions tell her that her ex-partner is coming after her. Ravi feels personally betrayed by Lily’s death and her actions against the Guild. Will she survive and can she protect the others around her? I loved this series and the characters of Lily and Bryce. So sad this is the end, but it was a fantastic conclusion. I was not disappointed.

Lily and Bryce make a nice couple who support each other fully. They are told that the crazy murdering Ravi has escaped from jail. Lily has several visions and the one with her being captured is incomplete, so she has hope that she will survive. I really like the characters. They feel believable as does the story in general. The story has twists and turns to keep it moving, but also has nice discussions between Lily and Bryce about their classes and future. Very nice story.

Lily’s past is about to catch up with her when her ex-vampire hunting partner, Ravi, escapes from prison and she is the top name on his list for payback. Bryce is protecting her at the Grimalkin Academy, but can he stop Ravi? She wants to be bait to lure Ravi out, but Bryce doesn’t like the idea of her putting herself in more danger again.
This is a well-done ending to the trilogy. Grab your copy and see all the loose ends tied up and the future they are heading into.

Really good and exciting story dealing with a past relationship, new love, and thoughts of betrayal. I really enjoyed the characters and the story line. It kept my interest until the very end. Laura Greenwood’s stories always leave me feeling happy and I enjoy every one of them. This story contained danger and excitement that left me anticipating what would happen. I’m a little sad that this is the last story about these characters because I enjoyed reading about them very much. Can’t wait until the next story.

Having read and enjoyed the first two books about Lily and her struggle against Ravi I did wonder how the author would bring this series to a close, well I don’t want to give any spoilers but what I will say is she gave us a really good ending to series. I loved how Lily was finally able to leave her past behind.

Lily is about to have her past catch up with her. Is looking over her shoulder all the time worth the effort or is she going to release her anxiety and just let it happen?

After taking down the Hunters Guild, anyone wanting to transition to a peaceful life is given the opportunity to do so. Lily’s ex partner, Ravi, is a sadistic human and he is imprisoned. He’s out for revenge. Lily, on the other hand, has gained a Seer’s power but can’t control it yet. Ravi has escaped and is coming after Lily. It’s personal for him like she betrayed him by dying. Bryce doesn’t want to leave her side, but duty calls. This is a fantastic ending, even with all the blood shed. I just love Lily and Bryce together. This is the last book in the Grimalkin Academy; Stakes Trilogy and the main character Lily, an ex-vampire hunter turned into a vampire when she was killed by another student whilst at the academy, by her mentor and bodyguard Bryce, is about to have her past hunter partner Ravi, catch up with her. He was captured along with other hunters and was supposed to have been imprisoned until the council made a decision on whether he was too high a risk to release or not. Now he has somehow managed to escape from the vampire prison and he is targeting Lily, Ashryn and other hunters. He has made a list of those he wants to kill and Lily’s name is at the top of his list, as he believes she has betrayed him and the hunter guild and learning she had become a vampire, makes her even more of a target. She is now being hunted, but the council believe she will be safe at the vampire academy, since it is full of vampires.
She gets to share a suite of rooms with Bryce and their relationship is closer than ever. She still gets visions every once in a while and one of them is of Ravi and her, whilst another is of a message he has left behind for her! None of the vampires from the council team have managed to track Ravi down and Lily wants to offer herself up as bait, but her ex-partner knows everything about her and her training as a hunter like him and he is also a lot stronger and a better fighter, never mind that he has sick skills for torturing people and enjoys killing. The worry is that even if he manages to kill Lily and all the other ex-hunters, he will then target vampires and even humans, until there is no one else left to kill! Bryce isn’t happy about Lily putting herself in a position of danger again, especially after he has already seen her die once and the second time she has no way back. An interesting end with a glimpse into some of the character’s future lives. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
