NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Immortal Faerie and ancient feuds, secrets and sacrifices—a thrilling new chapter in the bestselling Fever series begins, featuring Dani, Ryodan, and other beloved characters, as they battle to save Dublin from the rising of a terrifying evil determined to enslave the human race. There is no action without consequence. Dani O’Malley was nine years old when the …
Dani O’Malley was nine years old when the delusional, sadistic Rowena transformed her into a ruthless killer. Years later, Dani is tough and hardened, yet achingly vulnerable and fiercely compassionate, living alone by her own exacting code. Despite the scars on her body, and driven by deeper ones carved into her soul, no one is more committed to protecting Dublin. By day she ensures the safety of those she rescues, by night she hunts evil, dispensing justice swiftly and without mercy, determined to give to those she cares for the peace she has never known.
There is no power without price.
When the Faerie Queen used the dangerously powerful Song of Making to heal the world from the damage done by the Hoar Frost King, catastrophic magic seeped deep into the earth, giving rise to horrifying, unforeseen consequences—and now deadly enemies plot in the darkness, preparing to enslave the human race and unleash an ancient reign of Hell on Earth.
There is no future without sacrifice.
With the lethal, immortal Ryodan at her side, armed with the epic Sword of Light, Dani once again battles to save the world, but her past comes back to haunt her with a vengeance, demanding an unspeakable price for the power she needs to save the human race. And no one—not even Ryodan, who would move the very stars for her—can save her this time.
Praise for High Voltage
“A romance wrapped up in a thrilling sci-fi novel—what more could you want?”—PopSugar
“If you’ve never read a Karen Marie Moning book before, you’re missing out. Her heroines alone are worth the read. . . . Despite being set in a dystopian world filled with magic and fae, the obstacles that these characters go through are very much humanlike. . . . Cannot wait to see where [she] takes this series next.”—Under the Covers

Karen Marie Moning never ceases to astonish me with her inventiveness. The breadth and depth of her Fever world is remarkable and breath-taking in its scope. One can never take for granted where she’s going to go with a story, but it’s guaranteed to be all-out in powerful emotion, suspense and high stakes. If you are familiar with Dani, this book at last gives her tortured past a powerful center stage. I truly do not want to spoil this story’s twists and turns and rollercoaster emotions, so suffice it to say that it absolutely rocks and wouldn’t let me go. I’d recommend beginning with the first Fever book, though the glossary in this one does help a great deal. You’d just miss out on a lot of great detail and experiences that are well worth the journey. Kudos to some of the best world-building I’ve ever read!
I love this entire series. Unlike a few of my friends dropped off around the time that Mac dealt with the dark book, I’m glad I stuck around.
I always look forward to a new book in this series. Even when I think I know what’s going to happen and I’m right there is an unexpected twist. These books are a blast!
Fabulous read!!! Karen Marie moning is a awesome storyteller!!!
I won a copy of this book from a contest, I was not required to give a favorable review. Karen writes a wonderful paranormal story. Each of the characters in this story draw you in. It is always nice if you can read the rest of the previous stories so you know some of the characters, but this book can stand on it’s own.
I have been waiting for Dani’s full story and was relieved to have finally gotten it. I will admit to being frustrated in the Fever books between ICED and HIGH VOLTAGE (particularly because I wanted less Mac and more Dani), but after reading HIGH VOLTAGE, it all came together. Moning does an amazing job of weaving threads left dangling in previous books and at the same time unwinding other threads that I know will come to satisfying conclusions in the future. If you’re a fan of Dani (which I was), you’ll love this book!
I discovered this series shortly after I first started reading for leisure as an adult, and I’ve been a Fever addict ever since. High Voltage is the 10th installment in this urban fantasy series written by Karen Marie Moning. This ongoing post-apocalyptic, fae-occupied storyline is still going strong in my opinion and I have yet to tire of each new release. In this installment though, I did have some initial concern about it being a filler book. There was a whole lot of recap and not a whole lot of moving forward, but then everything…and I mean EVERYTHING…started happening around the 70% mark which ultimately left me satisfied but still wanting a whole lot more. Do I think this is the end. No. Will I keep on reading? Absolutely! If you like adult urban fantasy and have yet started this series, I’d highly recommend it. Have fun!
There. Are. Answers.
I am in my happy place. Dani, the woman has gone through some massive trials and made some huge transitions. In the beginning it was confusing, to see a young girl suffer so and be seen as more in the future. I admit I did not like young Dani, she was a thorn to me in the story. Oh there was some serious backlash towards Ms. Moning, speculations based on her age, before the tale was finished being told. If only they’d waited they would have seen this beautiful, wonderfully magical woman finally grab ahold of her red threads and become what she was ment to be. The truth of why this obsession was there made me jump and scream “YEH!” I’m not going to spoil it for anyone, you don’t need to know more.
Another great book from Ms. Moning. She continues to be one of my top 5 authors, one I re-read from often. I can not wait for her next work.. Bravo Ms. Moning, you rock !
I don’t often go back to the beginning after finishing a book, but I did this time and it was worth it. Love Ryodan and Dani. Can’t wait to see what’s next.
I love every single story Karen Marie Moning writes, but this one is my favourite.
Where to begin…I waited on this book for a long time. I wasn’t disappointed. Still, it took me just a little longer than I expected to get into it-Dani spent a lot of time in her head. I didn’t give up on the read and soon the Moning I love was back in full swing.
Dani’s story took me on an unexpected journey of drama, angst, adventure, passion, revelation…did I say passion? Oh yes, yes for real. Ryodan…oh Ryodan…Sorry I just have to say his name…Ryodan…okay I’m good. I really like the way she put this together and the little extra touches she provided were very much enjoyed.
Of course, in typical Moning fashion she left a lot open for speculation-clearly there’s more to come. She’s so obviously not done with any of these characters. I enjoy where things presently stand though- looking forward to the rest of the story.
I love KMM and I love the Fever world. I just didn’t like this book as much as I’ve loved all the others. I’m not sure what it was about this book, but for the first half I felt a very real disconnect between me and the characters and that’s never happened before.
Luckily, after I got to the 2nd half of the book, I was back to my KMM/Fever loving self and I found myself really enthralled. I loved Dani and Ryodan together and I was very frightened of what was happening to Dani. I enjoy the exchanges between Dani and Ryodan and find them an intriguing couple.
I did miss Mac in this book and I hope we get to see more of her in future books. I would have liked a little more of Barrons and the rest of the Nine too. I think we’re all just so used to Barrons and Mac that it’s weird to see a book with so little of them.
There’s definite foreshadowing for a future conflict between the fae and the humans so I’m eager to see what comes next from this series. I would also like to see more about Sean and Christian.
Even though I rated this book a 4 star instead of my usual 5, I really did end up loving it and it was only the slow start that made me knock it down a star.
2.5 Stars
I am so disappointed. I was never a fan of Dani to begin with and even if people told me I would change my mind about her, I didn’t. I still don’t care for her all that much. I was slightly bored most of the story, which really upsets me. I had such high hopes after Feversong. There were only 2 things that happened that held my interest and sadly they were towards the end of the book. I’m really hoping KOSAL will finally give me the closure I need for this series.
I would absolutely recommend this book. I picked it up and finished it all in the Same day. I couldn’t put it Down. It was wonderful. It is truly one of my favorites.
Another stunner by Karen Marie Moning!
One of the best authors out there. None of her books disappoint! I recommend this book along with the rest of the series.
Wow! Dani is amazing! And Ryodan. What can I say? I never realized the depth of his feelings. Great story!! Lover you KMM!!
The entire Fever series is one of my two very favorite series.
For anyone semi-familiar with the Fever series, this one is mostly told in Dani’s perspective. There’s none of Mac’s POV in this book.
Gah, my heart! Dani and Ryodan are the best, and how Moning crafts their story and pulls everything together, the artistry she demonstrates is beautiful.
Papa Roach was especially disgusting in this book, his initial chapter so vivid I almost didn’t want to read it all. Bugs and anything to do with getting inside people are likely to make me gag – yeah, I can’t deal.
I love how Dani’s character has evolved over the series – if you once thought she was an annoying non-necessity, hopefully this book will clear that up for ya. Many things about Ryodan (and consequently Barrons) are unveiled in this beauty.
There were parts that dragged or were overly descriptive, but as a whole High Voltage is a masterpiece. The perfect ending if KMM decides not to continue, or the perfect opportunity to start a spin-off series.
6 All The Stardust Stars!
I adore Ryodan and Dani!
I loved all the Fever series books. Want more.
