After inheriting a house in Seattle, Jax O’Connell is living the life of her dreams as a glass beadmaker and jewelry designer. When she gets an offer to display her work during a bead shop’s opening festivities, it’s an opportunity Jax can’t resist—even though Rosie Perez, the store’s owner, is the surliest person Jax has ever met.
The weekend’s events become a tangled mess when a young … young beadmaker is found dead nearby and several oddball bead enthusiasts are suspects. Jax must string together the clues to clear her friend Tessa’s name—and do it before the killer strikes again.

This was an OK read.
In real life, I know many headers, people who make or buy beads and make fabulous jewelry! I recognized some of them in a few of the characters in this book. Clearly the author knows much about the field. It was a fun read, if a bit macabre. It shines a light on one of my least favorite neuroses: The individual who takes their pet cat or dog everywhere, without asking permission first. I loathe that habit! Read this book to understand more about that. This does not beg to become a movie. Nevertheless I enjoyed reading it.
I found it hard to follow and frankly did not identify with the characters. Won’t read any more of these
Entertaining read , mystery. Set in the world of beading. Made me want to pick up my tools and create more beadwork
Rather a silly premise.
Great mindless read, entertaining, would read more of this author
Not my type of story.
I ‘m not a bead person, but I loved the characters, loved the book so much I read another in the series, and enjoyed it thoroughly.
Good mystery
Fun mystery
Fun main character. An nice read.
Even though this was a light read, it provides a lot of information about making glass beads and jewelry. I loved the guy making mohitoes and accidentally using catnip. Very enjoyable.
Fun little mystery and a fast read. I liked that the main character made jewelry since that is one of my hobbies.
Couldn’t finish it. Very simplistic plot.
I enjoyed the different characters and have to admit it kept me guessing until the end, which is unusual. Since I do crafts I also enjoyed the theme.
This book is the kind that makes you feel good. Easy to read, with fun characters. Enjoyed it a lot.
It was enjoyable.
Very enjoyable and informative, too. Set in Seattle, an internationally well-known area for artisan beaders, the story centers around a weekend beading workshop/bead fair and includes, of course, a murder. The characters are fairly well-drawn (the protagonist’s neighbor, Mr. Chu, is a delight), the action moves quickly and, to boot, you’ll learn quite a lot about hand-made glass beads. This novel is a fun way to spend an afternoon, immersed in a world most of us know nothing about.
A very good read. Good research about glass-blowing. An intriguing murder. A dog owner who needs some manners. A good -looking guy. Mix. Turn on the heat: a fun read.
Plodding pace and difficult to get into. I couldn’t even get halfway through the book – and I had to force myself to get even that far – before I finally gave up due to complete boredom.
