This is book 2 of the Sterling wives and the story of the second wife Astrid and the Clay who happens to be the brother of the current wife Miranda. When her ex husband Johnathon unexpectedly dies, she finds herself owning like the other wives 17% of the company and elects to work at Sterling Enterprises. She finds herself working closely with Clay, who is closed off after his failed marriage and seems to take it out on Astrid changing between hot and cold, jumping to conclusions about her. Astrid is a former model with an overwhelming wish to become a mom, she is sweet, considerate, accommodating with a soul as beautiful as her model looks. This forgiving sweet nature unfortunately allows Clay to get forgiven way to easily after his treatment of her. Wonderful read.

Astrid and Clay work together. Clay doesn’t like it, he is too attracted to her. As a single father, he knows his mind should solely be on his daughter, yet he can’t seem to get Astrid out of his mind.
Too much is going on in their lives for romance, yet there it is.

“High Society Secrets” is a classic, quite dramatic romance story and I really enjoyed reading it! I can’t wait to read more by Karen Booth.

She works closely with Clay is a single father to Delia and very closed off because of his ex wife who did a number on him. Book Two in The Sterling Wives trilogy.
We meet Astrid and Clay here, they work together, but he doesn’t like it, and the reason is, he is too attracted to her. He is a single father and his mind should be on his daughter only, but Astrid is on his mind too long.
The past, the secrets and the future.
Great story, loved it.
Astrid is the second wife of a man who upon his death leaves his share of a business jointly to all three women he was married to and they are working with one another to make it work. However, they have to deal with others in their sphere who are still dealing with issues of their own, like Clay the architect Astrid is trying to work with. She has had to overcome her situation and he has trust issues left over from his own marriage that he lets affect the way he deals with her. Will he get over his issues and give them a chance to move forward together? Another good read in this intriguing series.

I opened this book not expecting to have an overly positive reaction to Astrid. Her demeanor was so chilly and aloof in the previous book, that I thought I wouldn’t be able to connect with her at all. Imagine my surprise to discover that I loved Astrid. In fact, I think she’s become my new favorite of the Sterling wives. There’s a lot more going on behind her polite, professional mask and I’m so glad we got this chance to peek behind it. Clay was a much tougher nut to crack. He’s got loads of trust issues and he took them out on Astrid. That left him looking like a jerk for a lot of this book. Thankfully, it’s easy to see how much love he has for his family and his grovelling game is on point. By the end, I was able to love him too. This story also has some pretty intense corporate espionage that makes me quite desperate to get my hands on the final book of this trilogy.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book through Booksprout.
I enjoyed this book. I thought it was kind of interesting that the Ex husband would leave his company to his ex wives, three of them. This is the first book in the series that I am reading, and it was really good. The relationship between Clay and Astrid was well written and believable. The fact that their secrets were kept could have been the end of any relationship. It was an easy book to enjoy, well written great characters. I will be reading the first book very soon.

Love a single dad romance so I was sucked in from the beginning. We have Astrid’s story here and I loved seeing her relationship with Clay blossom. There is so much at play here that plays into their relationship that there is no way you won’t be entertained and enthralled into the drama.
This is book two in The Sterling Wives Series and it is Astrid and Clay’s story. Astrid’s ex husband died and he left his business to ex wives all three of them but the best thing is that they all get on and they have found friendship with each other by working together for the good of the company has they all have different skills. Astrid has to work with Clay who is the architect but she finds it hard as he is not very friendly and is so cold to her but will be ever give her a chance. Clay has big trust issues after being hurt by his ex wife and protects himself and his daughter by closing himself off from everything and everyone but will Astrid be able to thaw him just a little. What will happen when Astrid and Clay have to spend more time together and there chemistry gets so hot and then they end up having to share a hotel room, anything could happen and you have to keep turning the pages to see what will happen next. I loved this book so much with all its twists and turns and it is so addictive. Karen Booth is an amazing author and writer and I definitely recommend you read this book and others by her and you will not be disappointed.
I voluntarily reviewed an Arc copy of this book.
The second book in the series brings Astrid , the second ex-wife of Jonathon Sterling and Clay , architect and brother of Jonathon’s current wife. The author does a wonderful job building the sexual tension between them even as he fights the relationship. She brings intrigue ,anxiety and tons of emotions along with the hot romance. The story flows fluidly with realistic characters and vividly painted scenes and is an entertaining read. I’m looking forward to the next book!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
I give this book three and a half stars and that is for Astrid and her emotional journey.
Unfortunately I had big trouble liking Clay. He acted like a big jerk throughout the story and I really didn’t understand why she let him treat her like that and still took him back every time he apologized. The only redeeming thing about him is that he is a great father and brother and his grovel at the end.
Astrid was the second wife of Johnathon Sterling of Sterling Enterprises where she now owns a part of the company together with his two other wives. She is a former model from Norway and now she has taken on a big project for Sterling Enterprises. Here she has to work very closely with the firms best architect Clay who is also Johnathon’s third wife Miranda’s brother.
Clay has been really hurt by his ex wife and to protect himself and his five-year old daughter Delia he has closed himself of to even the idea of finding love again.
The problem is that they both feel a hot sizzling chemistry every time they are together which is a lot since they work so closely together and are forced into situations where they have to share a hotel room or him having a meddling sister.
How can they keep a strictly professional relationship when everything points to them being together?
Astrid is such a wonderful, sweet, loving, protective and strong person and to through herself into a job she doesn’t know anything about but fights to learn about is so admirable. And then on top of it all she has to work with a guy like Clay who is so hot and cold towards her and still have the fight in her to go for everything she wants wow:)! I have a little crush on her myself;)!
I liked his grovel at the end but I don’t know if I still think it is enough. Well it has an HEA so you can guess what happens but still. There is also a cliffhanger that leads us into the last book about Miranda and her HEA which I hope comes soon because I am still intrigued.
I can recommend this book because of Astrid and the side characters.

This is book two in the Sterling Wives series. This book is focused on Astrid, Johnathon Sterling’s second wife and Clay Morgan the brother to Johnathon’s current wife. I guess technically you could read it as a standalone, but this book will be much more enjoyable if you read book one first. The characters in this series are heavy intwined. This series is different than any of the romance series I’ve ever read. It’s been an interesting read. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read the final book. What kind of guy leaves not only his current wife but his two ex-wives equal controlling interest in his company when they die? Apparently, Johnathon does. So, the wives have to find a way to work together, get along and trust each other to run the company and to make matters worse it looks like someone is trying to sabotage the company. Clay and Astrid broke my heart. Here are two people who need someone to love them. Astrid is open to it but Clay is so closed off because he doesn’t want to be hurt again.
Astrid is Johnathon Sterling’s second ex-wife and currently holds 1/3 ownership of his company. He left controlling shares to all three wives in his will. Astrid wants to work at the company, so she was put in charge of Johnathon’s pet project. His current wife wants the company to see this project through because Johnathon wanted it. Her brother Clay is the head architect for the project. Clay and Astrid are both fighting their attraction to each other. There’s also someone trying to sabotage the project. This was an underlying issue that started in the first book. When Astrid and Clay give in to their desires can they work through their issues or will they try to forget it ever happened? Will Clay get past his trust issues? Astrid is also keeping a secret. What will happen if Astrid’s secret gets out?

High Society Secrets is a story of learning to open up and trust again after being burned by love. Although this is the second in the series, it can be read as a stand alone story. Astrid’s ex-husband left his company shares divided equally between his three ex-wives. They have formed a friendship of sorts and trying to build something to honor his legacy. Clay is an award winning architect, brother of one of the former wives, and seriously attracted to Astrid but fighting it because he was hurt by the desertion of his ex-wife. The attraction between the two is so strong, but overcoming the past is a big hurdle to finding happiness. This is a great story filled with angst, anger, some tears, a few laughs, a hot romance and a little corporate intrigue. The characters are engaging, entertaining and their issues are so realistic that the reader can relate to them.
I received an advanced reader copy from the publisher but all thoughts and feelings are my own.
I loved the dynamics going on in this second installment of The Sterling Wives. Astrid Sterling is wife #2 and a former model, but’s he’s also smart and kind hearted.
Clay Morgan is the brother of wife #3, the official widow of Johnathon Sterling. He’s also an architect at the firm where all three of Johnathon’s wives are now co-owners. Sparks fly the chemistry is off the charts between Astrid and Clay. But Clay’s been burned before and not interested in a relationship.
There’s a story within a story going on with the real estate development firm while Astrid and Clay work through their attraction.
I read this book without reading the first, it’s a true stand-alone, but I’m going to grab Tara’s story in book one because the series is so intriguing.
You’ll love this drama-filled romance and find yourself falling in love with Clay and Astrid. This book has an extra twist, how often do you have three ex-wives that together own their ex-husband’s business. and to top that off they all get along. Clay and Astrid have explosive chemistry together but he has major trust and commitment issues. Add to the drama Clay is the brother of Astrids ex’s widow. The book has a little of everything, corporate sabotage, emails from deceased people, and forever love. A HEA and no cliffhanger. I read a free book from Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.
A great storyline! Hard to put down! Intense and Emotional! Hot Chemistry! I truly enjoyed this read! Get it and Read it!
Sterling Enterprises, still recovering from the passing of CEO and founder Jonathan Sterling, is deep in a high-profile promenade project that might just save the company’s future. The architect in charge is Clay Morgan, single father with trust issues, and helping him is Astrid Sterling, who was once married to Jonathan, and owns a chunk of the business – and has a nasty secret that could unravel everything that the three Sterling wives have been working to secure since Jonathan’s death.
While I think that Booth’s The Sterling Wives series is one of those series that’s definitely enhanced if you read all the books in the series, High Society Secrets can be read as a standalone romance. The chemistry between Astrid and Clay is strong, but there’s a lot that’s preventing them from being together. I liked the continuation of the story from the first book – there’s less about Jonathan and Sterling Enterprises itself, which seems fitting as Astrid is new to the company, not one of the founders like previous heroine Tara, but that doesn’t take away from Astrid’s story. She still deals with her role at the company, and Clay, who she works with and is very attracted to, and their developing relationship – which is complicated and emotional and so relatable. The real strength of the story is in the very deep humanity of the characters – they’ve got stuff they’re proud of, stuff they’re not proud of, complications and feelings and fears and hopes and dreams and desires and their stories play out in the full breadth of all that sprawling realness. You sink in to the world Booth has created and live with the characters. I’m very much looking forward to reading book three of The Sterling Wives!
