They told her jumping would bring her home. Either they lied, or something is very wrong with Eve. She jumped to save her friend. She jumped to prevent Enoch from becoming the monster she knew from the future. But she didn’t land there. She landed in 1777. In the middle of the ocean, no less. And for a girl who couldn’t swim? That was the worst place in the world. After being saved by a pirate … a pirate who calls himself Blackbeard, Eve desperately needed to find Enoch, but when she did, she learned that not making it home was the least of her worries. Victor did the unthinkable and used her to accomplish his cruel attack, and she isn’t sure if Enoch will ever forgive her – or if he should.
Maybe the monster was never him.
Maybe it’s been her all along. Perfect for fans of The Hunger Games, lovers of pirates, dystopian novels, paranormal romance, science fiction fantasy and time travel stories!
High Seas is part of The High Stakes Saga. The series should be read in this order: High Stakes, High Seas, High Society, High Noon and High Treason.

High Seas is the second book in the High Stakes Saga and cannot be read as a stand alone. It begins where book one left off.
When Eve jumped out of the year 1348, she expected to go home, pulling her teammates with her. She jumped to save their lives and to prevent Enoch from changing from the caring and loving individual he was into the monster he will become. But something goes terribly wrong. Instead of finding herself back in her time, she finds herself plunging into the sea and being saved from a watery grave by the pirate Blackbeard.
Desperate to find Enoch and her teammates, Eve has no idea what awaits her in the year 1717 . . . and something is definitely wrong. Her tech isn’t working, and she’s feeling off. There is no way to prepare her for what she finds, however. Enoch has started to change . . .and blames the circumstances of the cruel attack that took everything from him on Eve. Can she convince him she wasn’t privy to the plan set to destroy him? Can she find her teammates and, will they ever make it back to her time? And, does she truly want to go know that she has found Enoch again?
High Seas was full of adventure from start to finish! Nothing could have prepared Eve for the journey she is on . . . especially knowing that someone from her time has sabotaged the original mission. While her teammate Titus has her back, Abram does not . . . and he is not what he seems at all. And, while she has only been away from Enoch for what feels like a few hours for her, it has been almost 400 years for him, and he has suffered greatly at the machinations of the team that sent Eve to kill him.
Enoch’s character has so much depth, it’s easy to get lost in him. The dichotomy of his love and hatred for Eve is masterfully written by Casey L. Bond. He continues to amaze and surprise, and it’s phenomenal. Eve is also an amazing character as she struggles with knowing everything she was taught to believe and be is a lie.
While the story is Eve and Enoch’s, the side characters play an integral role. For me, the ancillary character that I can’t wait to see more of in the coming book is Maru, Eve’s trainer. He has been used as much as she was and I can’t wait to see how he is able to assist with getting Eve back to present day so she can work to stop all the destruction caused by the people she thought were the good guys.
High Seas was fast paced, full of adventure and will take readers on an emotional rollercoaster they’ll want to continue riding when High Society releases next. 5 stars!
Casey Bond has done it again, High Seas is such an amazing read. I really love this series and its characters. The world within High Seas is just mind blowing. I love that blend of different genres, the author brings us in this story. Im not really a big scifi fan, however, I dont feel like the scifi aspect is in your face big. I love the paranormal romance she brings, Enoch and Eve are my favorite characters. I love that we get to see more of him and the other characters along with their POVs. Casey Bond has a way with wrapping her words into your soul and just leaving you wanting so much more. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us with High Society. This is one series that is a must read for 2019, you definitely dont want to miss out on the hype.
So I was highly anticipating the second one and it lived up to my expectations. As always I loved Casey’s writing, I love how she can make me feel all the emotions and it’s honestly I love writing that can make me really feel something in their writing.
I loved Eve and Enoch all though time had passed it felt like they were still the same. Except especially Enoch you could tell what happened in 1348 had a big effect on him and his siblings. Their first conversation back together was so hard and stressful and the scene was intense, you could tell that both these characters were hurting and it was such a beautiful scene. I also loved that even after both Eve and Enoch can still have banter with each other. They had a brilliant connection with each other, and you could see how much both of these characters mean to each other.
So Maru I didn’t think he was that important in the first book other than being Eve’s trainer but he became more important during this book. One of the questions he asked honestly blew my mind. I did not even think of that, but I actually can’t say what it was because it will spoil you for this book and I really don’t want that. But it blew my mind along with this whole upgrade business that is going off, it was a wow! Like I can’t believe that they got so many upgrades.
I love Titus, I love the bond between him and Eve they are like siblings, they tease each other and yet they defend each other to their last breath and I love that. Abram the third partner in this little trio he is a monster. It really is irony that he turned into a monster he was trying to stop.
I really could not guess where this story was going, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. The story was gripping and kept me hooked, I cannot wait for the next book in this series. I only wonder where this series can go next and I honestly can’t wait!
There I was, minding my own business reading like the innocent reader I am. I was super invested in the book that I didn’t see the end coming. When out of the blue the end just kills me!!! I turned my kindle over and over, clicked on the screen like I MUST have been missing something. Then I yelled “HOW YOU GONNA DO ME LIKE THAT, CASEY!!!” lol I had a slight Misery moment. You know, that pivotal reader moment when you picture yourself as Kathy Bates in Misery and you want to track down the author and demand she give you the next book…lol But seriously, I would never. High Seas, book two in the High Stakes saga is mind blowing. I loved every second of it. I obviously can’t give any secrets away, but I can tell you that you will LOVE this book.
Do you like Time Travel? Vampires? Pirates? Vampires that are Pirates? Of course you do, who doesn’t? No one, that’s who! And that’s why everyone should read High Seas, preferably after reading High Stakes as HSeas picks up right where HStakes ends.
Eve and her fellow assets have lept forward in time, only not enough, and must now once again orient themselves in a new (old) world, but the path is not an easy one. Eve tries to prove her trustworthiness while trying to figure out why she was set up and how to get back home to fix it. However back in her time, schemes within schemes are starting to be revealed as not everyone on her team is on her side, and even her friends are in danger as they start to look for answers so to why Eve didn’t return home as planned.
Allies are enemies and enemies just might turn out to be friends. Except Blackbeard, he’s still a pirate.
Could not put this one down. So much action, romance and awesome in one book! Enoch is one of the best characters I’ve ever read. Casey captures everything about vampires that I love. Eve is the perfect heroine. She has to deal with the fallout of her leaving Enoch and regain his trust and faith. The supporting characters are well written and have substance, making you either love them or love to hate them. I can not wait to read more. Bravo Casey!
Loved this book. Second in a series, of Enoch and Eve, time travel, pirates, vampires, liars and love.
This series though! Holy cow. Time travel, romance, vamps, hunters, PIRATES! Like what?!?! Who can make that work? Casey can! I am dying to find out what happens next, we were teased with just enough to keep us guessing.
Bond takes us on yet another fully engaging journey through time with High Seas, book two in the High Stakes Saga. Please note, you must read High Stakes, Book One to follow along with this new release. Although this novel is a combination of SCI-FI and paranormal I’d also go as far as to describe this novel as “The Originals” meets “Pirates of the Caribbean” as Bond takes you to new depths in the high seas of the South Atlantic.
Eve, Titus and Abram find themselves thrust into 1717 in the British Isles of the South Atlantic. Each arriving close to their target only to find they are no longer the only assets set out to destroy the three original vampires. Eve and Enoch’s romance and attraction are just as present in High Seas as it was in book one, High Stakes. However, Bond brings their relationship a step further by darkening the romance between the years they were apart. Enoch is no longer a free spirit creating acts of kindness for the people among him. Instead, he is a darker, more sad version of himself. He is a vulnerable vampire teetering on the brink of humanity. It’s easy to see what has caused the shift the siblings and the endless possibilities that lie ahead. On top of that, Bond adds yet another layer to the three Assets as she unravels the past and the cruelty experienced at the hands of Kael, the doctor who engineered them to kill the vamps. Together the Vamps and Assets must determine who the true villain really is.
Although that seems like a bit of a plot line mouthful, somehow Bond makes it all work together. Her story is unique, descriptive, and completely fascinating. Although it features a few different genres, each one is equally present causing a perfect blend. Once again, she has made a novel that is hard to put down. High Seas was engaging from cover to cover leaving me wanting more from these characters. I am so excited to see where Bond takes us next.
I loved this book, second in a series of 5. I love the way Casey takes her characters from place to place per book. She has a talent for blending that i never would have thought possible. Never would I have considered combining Angels with vampires with sci-fi, but the way she did it really worked and made for a great story.
