The moment we signed the divorce papers, the shooting started…I don’t know who they are. I don’t know what they want. All I do know is that a boat-load of black-clad gunmen just gatecrashed my divorce and kidnapped my 6-year-old daughter. There’s only one man I trust to get her back: Tattooed, towering ex-Navy veteran Max Seger. The only problem? He’s the man I just divorced – and he’s the … Max Seger.
The only problem? He’s the man I just divorced – and he’s the reason they kidnapped her!
But for better or worse, Max won’t leave me in my hour of need – so now, we’re embarking on a desperate race against time; setting sail in a dilapidated former Navy vessel, on a wild journey that will take us to Key West, Cuba, and beyond.
I couldn’t have predicted any of this – not the kidnapping, the chaos, or the conspiracy that followed.
But least predictable of all?
Being thrust into this dangerous adventure has forced me to remember all the reasons I fell in love with Max in the first place…
High Point is a thrilling, fast-paced military romance – featuring scenes of smoldering sensuality, nail-biting tension, and gut-punching emotion.

I loved the series, but couldn’t get into this book. I had to give up.
I loved this book!!!! Omg I couldn’t put it down, just like all the other Knucklehead books. Just when I think I have a favorite Simone throws me again lol. I cried I laughed, I couldn’t put it down. Thank you for another amazing Knucklehead book, can’t wait for the next!!!
People say a great love must have passion and excitement and Max and Tina have it all in their marriage. Unfortunately, that same passion leads to volatile fights and to their (or at least Tina’s) decision to divorce. I love all the Knucklehead MC books and this one was no different and just like the others, there is a hint (yea) of more stories to come. On the day their divorce papers are signed, all hell breaks loose when Max’s, sorry, Tina’s home is literally blown apart around them and her 6 year old daughter Bella is kidnapped. What Max cannot comprehend is why all this is happening and by whom. He promises Tina that they will rescue Bella and that is when the adventure begins and what a ride Simone Scarlet takes you on. I loved this book and I am so glad there will be more books to come and I cannot wait!
** spoiler alert ** Max has been hiding his past for years. Tina only wants stability for her and her kids. She must rely on him to help her. Will Tina accept the secrets when they come to light? Will Max be able to save his family?
I have to admit, at times, Tina drove me up the wall. I understood her anger over the secrets, but sometimes I did feel it was a bit much on her reactions. I didn’t blame Max for his secrets and loved the fact that he was willing to do anything to save her daughter. Overall, I liked the story line and the story!
I am voluntarily leaving this review because I received an ARC. I have adored Simone Scarlet’s work since I first reviewed the first Knuckleheads Box Set. Simone knows how to pull in her readers with her sexy alpha males, strong feisty heroines, danger and hot sex scenes. High Point was full of suspense and action, the story was so well drawn out that I was terrified for Max, Tina, Marty and most definitely little Bella. Who knew getting divorced could not only get you the best orgasm, death and kidnapping. They say marriage is a struggle but Max and Tina definitely didn’t know what the past was brining to their door that day. Max has hidden things from Tina but she is guilty of the same thing, however Tina is an impetuous hot headed Italian that acts before thinking it through. Max on the other hand knows how to be patient and protective of those he loves even if they claim to hate him more. Tina wants to punish Max for his past, but will he ever be able to make her truly understand that she is the love of his life and he would go through hell for her and her kids. Simone is so good at creating such nail biting suspense that you want to throw your iPad at the wall out of frustration. But with that being said you also can’t put her stories down either because she’s so creative.
This action packed book was such a great read with strongly created characters that kept me totally invested in this book until the very end!
What a wild ride!
Right from the very opening scene, we know that Tina and Max are going to take us on a wild adventure! This mountainous, rum-scented reprobate and his Italian Tinkerbell have passion in spades, whether it’s for fighting or loving or making the best of the last few minutes before their marriage is officially over. Max has secrets that he’s honor bound to keep, and Tina has absolutely no use for a man who keeps things from her.
I adored this couple, with their snarky banter and heat-seeking attraction, and I loved how the author made it clear from the start that the fact that these two are still deeply in love is never in question. The action is non-stop, and the kidnapping scene was so intense, so vividly described that I nearly couldn’t continue. This is a fast-paced story – everything takes place over just a few days – but the HEA is well worth hanging on for.
It’s a long story with plenty of detail and not a dull moment anywhere. The characters are vibrant and authentic, and I loved the quiet bravery of little Marty and his Pop-Pop. Tina’s personal growth is monumental, yet still believable. Max’s huge heart is proudly worn on his sleeve, and I loved that his devotion to Tina and the kids never wavered, no matter what. This is the first book I’ve read by this author, and now I’m intrigued enough to want to read the rest of the Knuckleheads MC series that I purchased them all. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
This very exciting book features Max and Tina. This book has some fantastic action! The beginning scene had me a little confused as to the divorce that was happening. Their whole relationship is a little volatile. Not physically abusive but they do like to yell and argue. Tina is an Italian woman from New York and she is EVERYTHING that entails. She is pretty OVER-THE-TOP and I felt she didn’t love Max like he loved her. The action was extreme given the reasons for it but the adventure was exciting. Pop-Pop was awesome! Max also drank WAY too much, which was never addressed out loud but Tina did think it often.
The story line is super exciting, full of fantastic unreal action and adventure. The characters were full of personality! Tina wasn’t my favorite character by far but she fit into the story line perfectly.
Max and Tina just signed their divorce papers in the beautiful beach house he no longer owns when all hell breaks loose. Suddenly gun fire erupts, there are boats filled with men dressed in black, firing machine guns into the house. When the gunfire stops, and the smoke clears, the occupants of the house have survived. However, the nightmare hasn’t ended, one of those men will kidnap Tina’s young daughter. Max, his old Navy buddy and lawyer, will set sail on in an old decommissioned navy vessel with Tina, her 70+ year old father, and Marty, her eleven year old stowaway son to rescue the little girl.
I will admit that at first I did not really like Tina, at all, but by the end of the book I could empathize with her, and Max, well he is a pretty typical male when it comes to communicating. Of course, if they both had been able to communicate more effectively, they might not ended in divorce. Tina and Max are sizzling hot characters that both made me laugh at times, and brought tears to my eyes, too. All the characters in this book are beautifully well written, unique, compelling, and absolutely fascinating. Wow, this is an action packed, exciting, suspenseful read. Add a little bit of mystery, at first Max has no idea who he could have made so angry they would try to kill him and the people he cares for, and you get a book that kept me on the edge of my seat. Fantastic!
I am voluntarily leaving an honest and non-incentivzed review of this ARC.
Life altering epiphanies a day late and a dollar short?
High Point: A Bad-Boy Military Romance by Simone Scarlet is high action, anger fueled and fast paced highly suspenseful romance. Max and Tina utterly and consistently fail to (productively) communicate and it takes the catastrophic, violent and heartbreaking kidnapping of little Bella for multiple epiphanies to occur for both of them.
This book is a thrill ride from beginning to end with worst case scenarios, dead ends and seeming hopeless circumstances. But through it all, no matter what either Max, Tina, Wyatt, Pauline or Marty pulled through with the impossible solution to survive once again.
The most memorable part of this book that will likely stay with me forever is Marty’s rage filled shout “Why the *can’t any of you try living for us instead? Out of the mouths of babes and so profound. This is just one of many heartfelt, gut wrenching moments that brought tears to my eyes.
Max and Tina struggle through the ups and downs and yet still take comfort from one another. There’s so much animosity between the two that could have been avoided! And honestly, for me, Tina was almost hard to like! The fact that she is a mother experiencing the unthinkable made her actions realistic and even understandable to the reader. Desperate times call for desperate measures certainly! Max’s understanding of Tina and her upbringing and recent losses is also enlightening for his own part in their self destruction as well as Tina’s. This book is a lot of everything; action, love, loss, acceptance, growth, new understanding and renewal.
Overall, an exceptionally well written book with engaging characters, emotional depth, intense action on all fronts an ultimately a loving, heartfelt and healing HEA.
I read an ARC of this book from Hidden Gems and voluntarily share my review.
From gutwrenching to heartwarming. This is a great spin off from the Knuckleheads MC series. It has all the action, suspense, drama, fantastic characters, and a storyline that kept me turning pages. Tina and Max were made to be together, but they had a lot of self work to do to get there. I liked that both main characters were eventually able to grow and move forward in a positive direction. Lightbulb moments! Aha! Baggage and secrets, unpredictable twists and turns, and characters with depth are all the things I’ve enjoyed from this author in past stories and exactly what I got this time. Total satisfaction and looking forward to the words from this author.
