Prophecies suck and being the “chosen one”? It’s not all it’s cracked up to be.I was happy living my simple human life, but–as a Halfling–I can only pretend to be normal for so long. I never had any interest in attending the High Fae Academy for Gifted Supernaturals, but avoidance can only get you so far.Sure, student life isn’t all terrible. I have five sexy Fae males who all want a piece of … Fae males who all want a piece of me. The only downfall is that I have to choose between them. Not. Easy. Especially when my magic isn’t making my decision any easier. I can control all five elements, and the guys? Well… each facet of my magic draws me to a specific man–to the element’s perfect match.
According to some prophecy I’ve never even heard, I’m destined to end the war between the Light and Dark Fae. Me. A half human.
I’m about to set off on a dangerous and sexy ride that is supposed to bring peace to a war ravaged world all while maintaining a decent grade point average.
No pressure, right? Wrong.
This book is a medium burn paranormal romance that is suited for new adult audiences.

I don’t normally read ‘academy’ books so this is a genre of paranormal romance i’m not hugely experienced in.
This one was pretty good and definately left me wanting more. It was slow to start and had the typical ‘girl meets several guys she likes, can’ t choose between them’ set up and for me she kind of bounced a bit from loving then hating the spirit teacher. There again lies another thing of confusion for me as being a student, surely it would be frown upon by the academy to be romantically involved with a student! But they didn’t seem to be hiding or and no one seemed to care.
The book picked up pace gradually until it got about 2/3rd’s in the book and then it running at a faster pace and getting more interesting by the chapter. I loved the character rowen and found it both an intriging and funny to see their relationship grown over the course of the book.
The ending is a cliff hanger, but that isn’t’ a bad thing for a author as it leaves the reader wanting to read the second book to find out what happened. Certainly i want to read the second one now.
I liked the narrator, she did a very good job on the voices, accents and keeping the story interesting (nothing worse than boring narrators)
I read the ebook and loved it and well the audio!!! dang! great job loved listing to this while I work!! fabulous story!!
This book is fast paced, funny, whitty, sexy, and emotionally charged. Kaylin Peyerk writes in a way that makes her characters come alive. I felt like I was at The Academy experiencing life as a new elemental fae right there along with Tiana. I felt connections with every character in High Fae Academy: Year One. I was literally on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading. I enjoyed learning as Tiana’s powers, feelings, and life evolved throughout this book. I can’t wait to see what happens with Tiana and the other Fae as her/their story evolves.
I highly recommend High Fae Academy: Year One.
I was gifted an eARC of High Fae Academy: Year One to read post and honest review. The fact that I was gifted a copy of this book does not impact my review.
The narrator was the best thing about this book! I just could not stay focused on the story line.
I really wanted to enjoy this book. It was a first in the Fea/Fantasy genre for me. It just seems once it got to the point of only talking about the attraction and wanting to bump uglies, I couldn’t keep listening. Not that I am a prude or anything, I just needed more of an interesting story. Maybe I will try again, but for now, I had to stop listening because it was not holding my interest.
This book had a lot of potential, but all of the references to sexual tension and all of dwelling on sex is just too much. I was thinking this was going to be a book for teens/young adults. I would not recommend it for anyone in this age range. The actual story of a girl with elemental powers who attends a Fae Academy is great, but there is just too much dwelling on hormone for my taste. I think the narrator did a good job.
Loved this book. It kept me captivated through it all. I want her to pick all of the guys. 🙁 I can’t wait to see what happens next now that she’s with the Dark Fae.
I really enjoyed this story and the narrator. It is an academy story which I love and not so much of a reverse harem which is a nice touch. That said there are numerous suitors for the MC and as she learns more about her magical abilities and her fated future another male enters the fray. What does a half fae/human with little knowledge of her magical abilities do when she learns that it is prophesized that she will basically end the wars that have been going on for centuries? I gave this story only 4 stars because of ending as a cliffhanger. I was given a copy of this story in exchange for a honest review,
It was a different take on the fae. I liked the story interested to see book 2. I got this book from story origins and this is my voluntary and honest review.
good start to a series I want to see where it goes; looking forward to the next book.
A unique version of supernatural academy stories. i liked that it is slightly more grownup than most. Being a shorter novel, I liked that time was taken to get to know core characters and not introducing too many other characters to take away from the main characters. I like all the characters and that there are light and dark versions. The narration was great! Can’t wait to see what happens next. I received a free copy in exchange for review.
This book was great, I was hooked from the first page and was so absorbed I had easily finished it in one sitting. I love academy books and this one didn’t disappoint, it had some great plot twists.Tiana’s a strong heroine with a prophecy to fulfil, and five prospective mates! Its not plain sailing for her at the academy, and soon comes to the notice of the queen bee/bully. I love how Tiana faced her bully – she pulled no punches! I liked Lucian a lot, but I prefered Rowan! I can’t wait for the next book!
I enjoyed this book although it’s hard for me to think of a time when I don’t enjoy save the world kind of stories. In High Fae Academy Year One, by Kaylin Peyerk, it’s not that Tiana doesn’t know who she is, but she certainly doesn’t know about any prophecy. Until of course Orin enters her life. Then that all changes. First it seems like this was going to be one of those fluffy little hot and steamy books but it was quite refreshing to see that it didn’t actually go there. Although the relationships in this story are intense they are all part of building the story. Good characters good world building and a killer of an ending. You won’t want to miss the second book, I know I don’t.
I love, love, loved reading this book! Getting to know the stylish and witty Tiana and seeing her grow as a character was perfect! She reminds me of a few of my absolute favorite book characters and now shes one of them! This storys twists and turns made it impossible to put down! I will definitely be reading more of this series!
High Fae Academy: Year One is the first in the series by Kaylin Peyerk. I really enjoyed reading this story! Besides it being my favorite genre, I was intrigued by the world and the magic. I did think the character development could be better, but I look forward to reading more about these characters. The story ends on a cliff hanger, so I’m hopeful we’ll get more character back stories and growth. I can’t wait to see how the story progresses.
I really enjoyed this novel by Kaylin Peyerk. Usually I lean more towards vampire and shifter novels, so this was a bit of a departure for me, delving in the world of Fae. From the beginning with Tiana embracing the Fae she was meant to be to the cliffhanger ending this novel by Kaylin Peyerk was interesting and exciting. It kept my attention from the beginning to the end, which came as a surprise. I look forward to finding out what happens in the next book of this series.
This book was my first by Kaylin Peyerk. I enjoyed the story line quite a bit. I cannot wait for the next book. I finished this in no time at all, couldn’t put it down.
This story is about Tiana, a half fae half human who needs to decide what path her life is going to take. The characters you meet along the way are so well thought out that once this book ended my heart hurt for them. A great story along with great character building, this will not be the last book I read from kaylin. Read this book and find out which path Tiana decides to walk down, and if she should or not!
High Fae Academy – Year One : Fae Paranormal Romance by Kaylin Peyerk
4 Stars!!!!
I just love to find new authors! This is the first book in this series and the first book by this author I have read. I found that it was unique and I just couldn’t put this book down. The characters just really come to life and I felt as though I was there with them. The author has created such a diverse world and I like how there is a balance of drama and romance.
Tiana is such a unique character. I enjoyed how the story wasn’t predictable. It is apparent from the beginning that Tiana is special but I really like how the author winds the drama around her. I totally related to her character and found that the story really begins to paint a wonderful picture and the world develops as you get further into the story. I like how she is reluctant at first but then as the story progresses she adapts to the academy. I really look forward to reading more in this series to see how things progress with the Tiana and the Fae.
I give High Fae Academy – Year One: Fae Paranormal Romance by Kaylin Peyerk, 5 stars.
Ok, I will admit one thing right here — not too long ago, I recently read a book by another author where the main character controlled all the elements and went to an academy, where she was suddenly attracted to five different guys. So when I started this book, I loved the characters, but was expecting a similar story. Well, this author threw me a bunch of curve balls, including one major one (I will not give it away, but you will know when you read it). I literally stopped and had to think about that one. There has not been a book to do that to me in a VERY long time. Yeah I have been surprised by plot twists, but I quickly move on. The addition here was so great, it immediately raised the bar for me.
Now, back to the book itself. The characters were fun and interesting. I feel like we could learn some more about them, but I’m guessing we will as time goes on. The story is great too. Let’s face it, the supernatural academy romace seems to be becoming it’s own subgenre, but I enjoyed how the author handled this. She made it her own, not just another one in a long line. I eagerly await the chance to read book two, I’m sure the author has many surprises in store.
I was drawn to this book from a series I recently read and enjoyed. Plus, I love anything mythical and magical of the sorts. So, here goes nothing: First let me tell you what it’s all about. My review will follow:
This book gives us a glimpse inside of a fantasy world, we follow Tiana, an elemental fae, who can control all five elements but she’s wanted nothing but a regular life. She’s tried to evade the school for High Fae Academy for gifted supernaturals.
A 21-year deflection, a recruiter, Orin, reaches out to her for a Great War. In the midst of a fresh start, an explanation and training under her mentor, she can’t help how she feels for him. Tiana’s powers have minds of their own as they take her life on an unexpected path in this world of fantasy.
